Well that’s a short sighted way of looking at it. Aluminum is 30-40% more expensive, weaker, flexes more and is more susceptible to corrosion between dissimilar metals, aluminum and the steel axles and brackets. Yea steel can rust too, but you can undercoat it. Aluminum will not hold up in rough use over dirt roads like a steel trailer will over time. Yea steel trailers are heavier but they last much longer. It’s almost like two different markets, short term users versus long term users. I wanted an aluminum trailer, but after seeing videos of corrosion, broken welds and cracked frames from road impacts, and the cost difference, steel is my choice.
