2:15 Exactly me
Good job. Do you still go to the gym ?
I stopped going to the gym 7 years ago and I’m consistently happier. Not saying I wasn’t happy when in the gym , some days I was extremely happy that I felt like I can do anything and other days felt so down I didn’t want to see or talk to anyone. I’m happier because I’m proud of the things I accomplished in my life, not only the gym but also my job and family. I used to feel so down when I trained so hard in the gym with little gain. My gp told me to relax your not taking drugs your natural. I used to make gym my first priority and now my job and family is. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses in life. You need to find what your good in. Be happy life is short . Some people I know see that I’m happier and they ask me are you working out and I said no I haven’t for years. When your feeling good your physical appearance looks better. Your eyes, your posture, everything is better. They’ll always be a person trying to bring you down in life. One guy I knew always said I’m skinny and I was always pushing hard in gym. He was always thicker than me and he never trained. One time we went together at gym and he pushed more weight than me on leg press. He pressed 1000 lbs and I did 450 lbs . But he was cheating doing half squats. He always brags of that day when he’s around people ,and I never said he cheated because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings .He has been bragging for 20 years. He bragged about it again this year and I had enough finally told him you cheated that day. He was so shocked and embarrassed and he shut up right away. What a relief I felt. Goes to show don’t believe everything you hear ,some people lie and cheat and want to bring you down because your a threat to them your better than them. Peace from Canada.
I've met some people that felt this way as well. They told me that they worked out for a year or some months and then they stopped working out and then they came back months or years later. I think that happens to almost everyone that goes to the gym. Sometimes it doesn't feel good anymore. I work out and practice MMA and I feel torn between these two activities. I really wanna stop doing one of them but I love both.
My problem with the gym is that after a while, it starts to feel boring, repetitive, and meaningless. Like, two years doing almost the same exercises, just increasing the weights, and sometimes not even that anymore. That excitement from the first few months fades away, and then you just keep going mechanically, asking yourself, "What the hell am I even doing here every day? What's the point of this?" Now, I kind of understand why some athletes turn to anabolic steroids because, at least, it’s a way to stay motivated to keep training and progressing.
ahhh who cares?
Thank you! Very inspiring video. I stopped going because it was demotivating. Off topic: How much did you pay for your adjustable weights?
Love u❤
Working as a research assistant rn. Completely resonate with the muscle memory shit. These Western blots be hella troublesome tho.
What are those style of noodles called never seen them before
I’ve been going to the gym for the last 2 years 4 days a week for a hour a day and haven’t seen any progress in my stature and I look around the gym sometimes and see that a lot of the regulars who have been going since or before I started look exactly the same? I’m starting to dread going
After nearly two years at gym, i quit. I dont need big muscles. I just go for runs now
Maybe because punishing the body is more for the male body. We thrive on it. We need a break sometimes, but our bodys crave it. I can tell by the difference in how my gf i and i train. I can run a very steep mountain time. And just brutally push my self to the point if misery. She can't. Its not fun. She prefers functional training. High reps. Low volume. Easy recovery.
The westie is so cute!
Your coffee art is getting better!!
Looks amazing Zoe🥹💛
That's literally me 😂
Please make weekly lab vlogs!!
I forgot that if they sell you something so much, be careful, the gym keeps you distracted and stresses you out, I was overtrained, poorly fed, tired all the time, in pain from everything, I think that in the near future I will only train at home and 30 minutes 3 times After a week maximum, enjoying life is better than being in the gym worried about not completing the entire routine. That stresses, tires and makes you sick. thanks for sharing
Attunement with your body is loving it, not deciding with your mind what you think is best based on what you see other people doing. Your body has wisdom. Listen. ❤
Congratulations, well done!
What do I do when I even find walking hard now?🤦♀️
youre a woman so ofc you can quit. No one's judging you after all.
Same. I used to lift heavy and although I felt like a tank, I didn't feel "healthy" per se. Lifting in the evening also gave me terrible insomnia. These days I go for a simple calisthenics workout, a hike or a run. Makes me feel good and i'm not as tied to a routine
my dream body -hourglass -big hips✅ -slim arms ✅ -slim waist ❌ -flat stomach ❌
This video actually made me cry Its the first time im hearing someone share the same experience, and this feels so validating and refreshing At some point I would force myself to workout and end up crying and feeling really bad, I just stop being able to lift weights and enjoy it... Im also running and doing pilates now, its something that I can actually enjoy WHILE im doing it! Still struggling with the beauty standards and people saying that if you run you lose muscles blah blah but Im trying to listen to my body and if I want to run, Ill just run! Courage for anyone going through this, remember that the most important part is that you are doing something that is sustainable for you! And enjoying life :) Whats the point on spending all of your time trying to look a certain way if youre taking out from enjoying life Just listen to your body and do whatever makes you healthier and happier :)
I love this!! Thank you for your thoughts ❤
I am going through this right now, thanks for sharing. Makes me feel that I am not alone❤
😂😂😂
I found my people. Thanks so much . Love the video
Its the fitness culture tbh its becoming so toxic, im so done
But you can still work out on your own regardless? I don't understand your argument at all
I quit the gym for calisthenics. I’ve tried both and got injured way more with weights than calisthenics
The world is your gym
I was happier for 5 months and finally achieved my slim face goal then I let some comments get to me and freaked out and started doing lat pull downs and now I lost my narrow face/cheeks I am so sad. I want to quit so bad but it will feel like I'm being a quitter who already quit on themselves but is now quitting in others.. I have to be true to me though
gym burn out is real
I like tge gym its relaxing but i try to do things with proper form and go light
i wanted to say thank you, ive watched for a while and you are part of the reason i started my channel. I needed a creative outlet and for my last job i managed the social media pages and fell in love with editing. So i took a leap and have brought my two passions together. Thank you Zoe
thank you so much for your kind comment!! it means the world to me. I'm so happy you found something you love!
@@LifewithZoe absolutely! i always look forward to your videos and wish you the best in all you do!
What you said about that whole "no excuses" mantra, is so true!! It's like you're supposed to feel guilty if you don't choose to aggressively push yourself on a consistent basis. I've been feeling similar about going to the gym this past year. I also was doing heavy weight training. Building muscle is great but it always left me so exhausted. Plus it became harder and harder to motivate myself to go. Especially with my current job (when I got into lifting, I was in college and had more time. But now with my hectic job it is just so much harder to have the energy for it). Lately I've been running outside (or I go for a walk if I'm too tired! The goal is to be active even if I'm not going hard). I also signed up for megaformer pilates classes, which I have been liking (it's challenging but low impact). I feel like lifting heavy doesn't work for my current lifestyle and needs right now as well. And I relate to initially being worried that my workouts wouldn't be intense enough if I'm not lifting heavy. But PLENTY of people who don't lift heavy weights are fit and athletic. There's more than one way to be fit and healthy.😉
I relate to this so much! I've been going to the gym for around 4 years at this point and while I can never truly hate the gym or stop going for long periods of time, at this point in my life (having a hectic job with lots of overtime while also job hunting and my other personal commitments) it's just harder to muster up the energy to go to the gym and push myself, particularly on those heavy compound lifts that are always intimidating and require a lot of mental prep. I think it's not talked about enough in the bodybuilding/strength world about bouts of burn out like this, and I think it should be ok to take long breaks from the gym if you're bored or tired of it. Because people in the fitness world are so worried about 'losing gains' that these long breaks seem out of the question or just dismissed as 'being lazy'. Reality is that life fluctuates and your workouts should fluctuate along with it (yes that can include fluctuations in how your body looks and that's fine!) Now I'm going to the gym less and doing more low-impact workouts like pilates, dumbbell workouts at home, and walking, as well as enjoying sports with friends like swimming, hiking, bouldering and badminton. I'm enjoying exercise much more by doing this! Of course I'll still go to gym, and maybe one day when my life stabilises I will be up for more routine weightlifting like I used to. But right now it's not the time, and that's ok.
listen to your body, not other people. no animal in nature works out, why do we have to?
Hi. I started weightlifting at 14 and just recently quit and ALL intense exercise at 22 years old.. indefinitely. I have come to the conclusion that damaging my body is extremely stressful and detrimental to aging. If my environment doesn’t require that I’m strong and excessively fit, then why am I forcing myself to be? I no longer wake up daily with tight neck, back and hips. This perspective is totally unconventional and irregular, so it might shock you as you read it. But I hope I can open somebody up to escaping exercise slavery. Preserve your body, eat incredibly well and live as relaxed as you want, without guilt - though it may take a while to unprogram yourself from the toxic ‘work hard’ paradox
Exactly my thoughts, if the environment we’re in doesn’t require a great deal of strenuous activity, then I feel as though it’s not necessary to be extremely muscular and built as such. Body weighted workouts such as callisthenics can be just as beneficial.
@@FS-rj4xo 100%. I used to lift heavy and although It made me feel strong, I didn't feel healthy necessarily. It was also boring me out of my mind. These days I enjoy more doing a simple calisthenics workout or going for a run, especially outdoors. I feel like I can make that spiritual connection between body and mind and actually enjoy performing movement.
@ReBirthAB you just have to find ways to train your back muscles, if you hate the gym then buy a pull up tool to attach to your door and do pull ups at home, or buy equipment like barbells for home too.
@ReBirthAB yes I think it’s better than nothing, you can actually see a lot of progress by going twice a week compared to going every single day, because you’re allowing your muscles to have a resting period where they can grow. Callisthenics is very good, you’re using your own body weight for exercising and that can be just as effective, if not better in my opinion. Good luck!
You’re very bright for a 22 year old bro I’ve been training since I was 16 am now 28 making the decision to quit the gym for other avenues of fitness
I'm white myself and even I use my friend's parents last names when referring to them
This was so honest. I just subbed. I feel the same guilt, except for going out instead of working out. I've never really worked out consistently. I'm working on accepting that I probably never will. (But long walks, dancing and occastional yoga makes me incredibly happy)
Working out every day is difficult. Especially if you work in a stressful environment all day long for over 8 hours. Going to the gym afterwards for some makes those work days even more stressful. I’m one of those people. I quit the gym and just started going with my own flow. I’m much happier now.
Stressful environment 👍🏻

I watched your “why I quit lifting” video and I really enjoyed it. I’m 37, been lifting since 22 and it’s so hard to let go of but I keep feeling like I need to. I’ve been wanting to pick up running but fearful I’m going to injure myself (says the girl who lifts heavy weights) hahaha 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway I really enjoy your videos! ❤
that's a long time to be dedicated to something wow!! you should be really proud of yourself. i'm with you on your journey to finding what fitness works for this phase of your life. you got this <3 also! i found that when i started running more seriously i had to start strength training again to support my joints, but it was never as intense as it was when lifting was my only sport. as much as i dreaded it, it was the best thing to prevent injuries :)
