Cracked Plugins Are Hurting You (More Than You Think)

This video does not encourage or endorse piracy! The content is for entertainment, educational and informational purposes only! Pirated software is something that all of us have used to varying degrees of capacity at some point of our journey. Whether we care to admit it publicly or not. But a few months ago I stopped doing that. I stopped using any form of cracked DAWs, plugins, amp sims or an...
Why Every Guitarist Will Need Locking Tuners in 2025

❌ Don't be like Shmuck 👉 www.guyker.com/?ref=thaeerdi I think that in the coming 2025 every guitar player, no matter the skill level, is gonna have to buy a set of locking tuner. It's just WAY TOO convenient, it improves your tuning stability, and it's not like they're expensive or hard to install. That's basically the entire video in a nutshell. Enjoy! TIPS FOR RECORDING GUTIARS (BEGINNER)
Buy us a randall amp :3
The Bluetooth IR thing is baffling to me... it's bouncing out to a Bluetooth speaker and is using an IR to make it listenable. No human being would ever try to record or do anything other than jam via Bluetooth. The reason it sounds like trash is because you are essentially using two IR's, creating massive phase problems. Bluetooth is not a viable recording method.
Hey, I think I didn’t explain well enough what the bluetooth feature does. It doesn’t let you share the sound OUT of the amp to another device, but rather the opposite - share sound FROM your phone for example TO the amplifier. Thanks for writing!
Holy I thought you had more subs/views for a high quality video
Thanks!
just bought a het set, i like them more than fishman fluences
EMGs are top professional level pickups. Many of my favourite metal bands use it. I used to have a 85. My favourite all time bridge pickup for heavy music.
3:09 Harley Benton actually has an American Store on reverb, it’s verified and they sell most of the same items. Most of the same because some items are not in the American shop.
EMG makes plenty of passive pickups. They also make tons of models. This whole argument is absurd. Thats like renting a cobalt and saying a corvette is shit from that experience. Emg passives and actives are great. As well as duncans and dimarzios. The only pickups i have ever played that flat out suck are fishmans. They sound terrible imo.
Hey Alex, this might sound odd but thank you so much for the sponge tip in your first video, that was incredible
Hey, thanks so much for writing! I'm glad I could help out! I might be making more of those "recording tips"-style videos soon, so stay tuned! Thanks again for sharing!
I've gone forward, backwards, and side to side when it comes to pickups. I started as a diehard EMG fan, tried Fishmans and I liked them but not enough and ended up getting rid of that guitar that had the fishman in it. Came back to EMG/seymour duncan actives and love them. Lately i've been playing a ton of passives and what not, but at this point I think in 2025 anything you buy aftermarket pickup wise will be perfect for you. Actives, non actives, and definitely doesnt matter what brand. whatever works, will work.
I love all four sets of my EMG's and my set of fishman fluence moderns. I recommend the 24volt mod
my hellraiser has emgs and my evil twin has fluences....now to get a seymour duncan guitar....and need a les paul
MODO BASS 2 IS FREE AND SOUNDS BETTER IN MY OPINION
EMG forever!
Thumbnail is wrong lol
#1: plugins are software, not a physical product, sure the price can change but u would need like almost every person on earth to pirate it for that to happen because when you pirate something you didnt steal it, the original is still there and you just got a copy of it #2: only download the ones you want to use, you dont have to download every single one, you can also delete the unused ones when your options are bloated #3: you dont have to openly say "i pirate software and use it for every project i make", also aint no way someone actually pays for adobe products instead of using an open source alternative #4: it IS expensive, why do you think countries like russia have piracy spread out so much? economic problems. the 10$ you buy software with could end up being more than 200 in some countries, also if you dont want your gpu used as a bitcoin goldmine use trusted sources instead of just looking things up on google, and even there remember to first run it on a sandbox/vm until you are sure you can trust it also if you support the company (or developer if it was made solo) you can always buy whenever you can afford it or just send a donation, if you cant afford neither then spread the word about the software and someone else might buy it
Whatever gauge you use. Make sure they are progressive tension. Meaning that the pounds per tension increases as the string gets thicker
I call bs on this tbh. Have bought most of the plugins I use regularly and there has been times where a cracked version doesn't need an internet connection or third party software to make checks all the time. Some plugin manufactures abandon good plugins and the only way to get them on a fresh install of your OS is through piracy. Not saying piracy is always justified however a lot of software companies do rlly crappy things to their paying customers who end up having a better experience with pirated copies. Adobe is openly taking advantage of consumers who don't even own the software they pay for. How is it stealing if you can literally have what you paid for taken away from you if you don't accept tos or price changes?
the only reason I dont use cracked plugins is that if one of my clients need a change and the plugin stopped work for some reason I'm screwed...
#1: You still can value cracked plugins. Time and effort to get them replaces the money you would spent to get them legally. Also being a pirate doesn't make you impatient to try every plugin in and out. #2: If you have all the plugins cracked then you can try each one and pick the most suitable for the job. If you wanted to try them legit you would have to rely on demos which aren't always available. I wouldn't say that having multiple options is a bad thing, but yeah if you're a beginner sticking with one and then trying others is the easy way around. #2.5: True. #3: Also true. Never use pirated sw to make money. #4: Plugins are fairly priced for professional use. Too overpriced for hobby-users. Freeware is an option tho. 4/10 video. Good luck on your YT journey.
Thanks!
industry shill lmao
1) Paying wouldn't change that? sure you *might* want to use it more and hence learn more about it but I don't think that paying is actually the driving factor behind you wanting to use a plugin but the plugin and what it offers you. 2) Sure, I guess, that might be valid. But it's a bit of a strawman argument. Not every pirate is gonna download a million plugins at once without knowing what any of them do. That's an assumption and generalisation on your part 3) Piracy isn't theft though, If you crack FL or something Image Line doesn't lose that one copy for example. It's infinitely reproducible therefore you can't equate the two 4)That is wholly subjective, you never know someone's situation and saying something like that feels tone-deaf. Even if 200 Euro is pennies to you most of us don't have that luxury. Millions of cracked plugins aside, The base price of the software is a massive barrier.
lmfao hell naaaaa
adobe, lol
as in: in subject of ethical marketing behavior with customers
I only crack plugins if i want a very specific thing... I always mainly use vital as a synth .. sometimes the U-He synths, i also installed some virtual clones of vintage things.... But mainly use vital, for effects... The stock plugins in Bitwig work perfectly fine... If i want some other sound that i absolutely can not get from what i already have then i might go on a little search... And also... Every plugin i crack.. i always buy it legitimately once i have the money to do so
When I was not experienced in music production I only used very expensive plugins, now when I have way more experience than then - I tend to use stocks and frees a lot :D
Tbh same here. Not saying I'm very experienced, but over my time doing this I've realised that just slapping a number of expensive plugins on a track, for better or for worse, doesn't automatically make it sound great. Thanks for writing!
@AlexGichevMusic Yeah exactly, it is like using a crane to lift a bag of apples from the ground
bro got payed off
most of these reasons don't make any sense... maybe this is the point and trying to provoke people to write comments like i'm doing right now? the only real bad thing of cracked plugins is the risk of malware... my two only virus infections i had on my computers in the last 20 years were both from pirated plugins. One of them managed to infect my system because the default malware protection in windows was pretty bad then and i only found out that my system was infected when when the default windows antivirus got better over time, it had been infected almost half a year then. Also if it's from a smaller firm or a single person making the plugin and that's their income and it's not a super popular plugin, then i guess actually buying their product is just a the right thing to do.
Nah, I didn't intend for his video to be "rage bait". Unfortunately it is kind of turning into that. The reasons I shared are the ACTUAL reasons I stopped using pirated software, apparently not many people resonate with them.
Delusional propaganda
i am using Cracked FL 20 with some cracked Plugins. But i did it, because i didnt knew if i stick with producing, it is not good to install cracked sowtware, but its free. what should i do when i bought it, and then notice "i dont like it" waste of money. Next DAW i Buy, because i stick with music producing. The only 3 Plugins i Crackes are: Serum, Pro EQ 3y and Volcano 3. there was a Full bundle, i did the full yes. i need them because i make my Harderstyle kicks "like Rawstyle and much more" my self, not Sample Packs kicks. and the full bundle costs 1600€. i am a Hobby Producer, not a paid producer. So daw i pay, Serum i will pay soon too, because the cracked version is bad. But the 1600€ I dont have for now. so as long i dont pay, they earn Bitcoins of my pc yes. but FL 20 cracked was good for starting because the Free Demo version is really bad, you can save your music, but cant open it again as long you dont pay the 200€. what is the sence of making music and cant open the file if you pc crashes.
i did the same thing, except i got rid of fl studio because i wasnt feeling like going into music producing at all
For years i left my pc exactly the way it was because of audio production. When my pc got too cluttered I had to reinstall windows, the only plugins that still worked were the cracked ones. The headache all the paid ones gave me was not worth it. I decided that i wouldnt use paid plugins anymore. I pay for plugins and use cracked versions because I cannot afford to have to finish a project and then be stuck for hours with licensing issues. No more using paid plugins for me. I pay them and then I pirate them. Never had issues with plugins mining for me. Never need to awkwardly fix licensing issues while people are waiting in my studio.
This is a valid point. I've never had such issues, but to be fair I haven't switched machines/reinstalled windows since I started using paid software. Your tactic of still paying for them, but just using the cracked version cause they just work better is OK in my book. My points were more in the vein of "why PAYING for what you use is good". Thanks for writing!
I think you should just pay for what you can, and crack what you cant
only true answer
If buying it doesn't mean owning it, pirating isn't stealing. I can afford the Creative Cloud License but I don't put up with Adobes shit policies
this.
1. You value it because you did the research and know what it does, not because it's accessible. It has nothing to do with buying them or pirating them. A lot of people has bought a lot of plugins they can't use and have the same issue, they've just spent a ton of money on it. 2. Same goes, you can always delete plugins you don't use or can't use. 3. Don't forget third world countries with low average household income. Software is priced to be profitable for developed countries with a salary more than a 1000 dollars a month. You wound't hear music from 80% of the world if pirated software wasn't accessible to them. 4. A lot of software companies don't have an option for buying their product upfront, they just offer a subscription. As the saying goes: if buying is not owning, pirating isn't stealing. 5. Relative. 600 bucks for Ableton might not be expensive for you, but you'd be surprised how much money it is for the people assembling your microphone you're talking into. I bought all my plugins, because I work as a professional now in Europe, but I'm aware of the fact, that I'm privileged being able to do so.
Low income should never stop you from creating. I should've stated that more clearly in the video. PS. 600 bucks for Ableton IS a lot of money for me :) I plan on getting the $200 upgrade. Thanks for writing!
One of the stupidest piracy criticism videos I've ever seen
Agreed. I really didn't get ANY of his points. If the fucking company stays profitable and still has enough paying customers (other companies), what do they need my money for?
also agree, you can counter argument every point in the video
the only actually good reason here was the option paralysis
just dont download what you dont need to use and delete what you dont use if theres already too much
One pickup i liked better than emg is duncan blackouts. They have more of an organic tone, with all the benefits of actives
did the views end up covering the cost of strings?
Hah, I wish! I'm still not making any money from this channel, however I sure hope I start doing that soon. Thanks for writing!
I am using a paid softwares and i lost so many clients because they have an excess of the softwares that I am using. they do get away with this and it looks like the software developers don't care whether you are a paid client or not they just don't do anything. i think people that makes cracks are the same software developers, they using busnisee strategy .
Hm, interesting. I can see how the people actually cracking the software could be developers, that makes a lot of sense, really. And I also think companies don't care much about piracy, cause if a beginner learns on a cracked version of THEIR software, they are more likely to buy it later on. As far as loosing clients goes, I think that if you factor in the price of the tools you use into your rate, that would make it easier for you to purchase all the necessary stuff. Also I think that being transparent with your clients about this can help. If not...get better clients :) Thanks for writing!
using my gpu to mine etherium? Can we get a separate video on that pls
A lot of dodgy software has crypto miners built in so the person who made the crack can get a bit of money, that sums it up
@@kurwamamkaca use trusted sources instead of just searching up on google
Emg 81 is the goat. These trendy kids will learn one day.
Being a former trendy kid...I did
@ haha. Same here.
as a guitarist i would wear this type of shirts all day
More power to you
I'm mostly into early 2000s metalcore, but I just despise EMGs. They sound great with high gain, but with less gain they sound so dead. Fishman and SD Blackouts sound artificial instead. I will always choose passives over actives.
Yeah there's virtually no difference to me in the full mix. I'm definitely choosing strings for feel and ergonomics, I'm cool with slightly heavier gauges just because I can't stand a floppy bottom string
Floppy bottom stings are like...unusable, especially if you're heavy handed. Playing fast downpicky riffs on the 7s and 8s wasn't fun
emgs are classic and simple...thus far sd blackouts are my sweet spot...og ahb1 in my 6 with a 24 volt mod in c# and the new sd alt metal in my 7 with standard a tuning was amazing...i just tuned down to g to experiment and holy shit seymour duncan should make these in an 8 string variant as well...to explain why blackouts are my sweetspot because they are like a punch to the face..while emgs jjust have a nice crunch
I dont have locking tuners, but how would you go about minimising the winds so that you maintain tuning stability? Surely you'd have to wind it to get it in tune first, no?
You just pull it hard before locking it in and then the right note is usually no more than half a wind away. Thanks for the question!
@AlexGichevMusic ahhh makes sense. Thanks 👍
Everything below the .46 on the low string sounded the same to me through my surround sound. Once you got to the .46 and larger diameter i noticed the sound get more and more audibly muddy
i love 7's but 8.5's are all around just right for feel and sound.
You lost
I have 3 guitars with locking tuners and they make a big difference. They're table and take minutes to change strings. You have no excuse to rock those filthy worn out strings anymore.
I own a couple guitars with fishman fluence pickups a 7 string diamond series schecter and a custom strat. And here I am, as I type this; having EMG 81/85’s being installed on my schecter c1 silver mountain. 😂 came full circle. Spent money in every department trying to get the emg tone and finally folded after a decade and a half. I found a lot of sound quality comes from good speakers and decent pickups. But I still have had an itch for emg pickups from the start.
I think the only real innovation we got in how we create guitar sounds is the possibility to make vintage sounding equipment without many of the disadvantages we got with real vintage equipment like noise or very high volume. Apart form that everything else is sad and done about guitar sound. You can't reinvent the wheel or bend physics. Its good advice to always follow one rule first: Can the guitar cut through the mix without sonically canceling another instrument. The best guitar sound is worthless without the power to cut and integrate. Everything else is secondary and can be achieved in many ways and forms. EMG has clearly proofed their reliability on the battlefields of Heavy Metal. The pickups do exactly what thy claim to be capable of and many iconic bands used them live and on records.
