I went through Army basic and AIT in 1988. We were not allowed any tobacco products or anything that wasn't military issue. Today's Army is a woke kindergarten type of training. These modern, spoiled, woke kids wouldn't have lasted 1 hour back then. The liberal democrat ideals of today have ruined not only the military, but the whole country. These kids come into a job and are basically useless. And you can't do anything to motivate them or even penalize them for poor performance or spending all their time on their phones or even sleeping on the job. Until our country turns around and teaches the youth to be responsible and that their actions have consequences, our military and country will continue to be weak and fail.

Total BS! I went through Boot Camp at Parris Island in 1964. I was punched in the solar plexus and saw others choked, and even kicked. Don’t tell this BS to this old Jarhead!

My brother joined and he said tbe exact same thing what you see on youtube is toned way down infact he had ptsd from the training I am not making this up they make you pt until you feel like you cant do anything more and they dont stop this was in the early 2000s and they did hit people and I believe him he was not the same person when he came home and he told me that it did become easier years after he was in and he didnt like it he told me about the stress card and it upset him because they didnt do that for him but that was in the early 2000s and he told me during war time they get really tough so yes what this man has to say is true.

Thank you for this story, the part where the sergeants told you to buy supplies just to confiscate them later sounds like classic army banter to me, really gave me a good laugh. Also I agree wholly with you. These stress cards defeat the whole purpose of military training...what a joke

You are wrong Physical discipline including punching slapping and being beaten with a rifle were daily occurrence in Parris Island back in the day

Truth! Basic training at Ft. Dix in 1972 for me. Those were the days. I think the stress card should say, "I'm mentally and physically weak. Kick my ass out for the good of my fellow soldiers who are real men."

I appreciate your effort to share this story, but I am having trouble seeing your viewpoint. You seem to be on both sides of the situation. I understand the cruelty of the assault with intent to cause severe bodily harm or even murder of someone who was just existing, and did no harm to others. On the other hand, you say you would have no respect for a colleague who announced being transgender. A colleague you knew and respected until that point. In 1984, a young man I worked with in the Air Force decided to avail himself of a new policy to come out to the commander to get an early discharge. The colonel told him to keep quiet and finish his enlistment, about 14 months. He agreed. And within two weeks, his room was vandalized, his car, and he was attacked off base so severely that he was hospitalized for six weeks. We had an E5 who was terrorized for 9 months before he was discharged for liking silky underwear. He had just reenlisted with an web of 3, a $12,000 award because his skill was so valuable. Yet an E6 who was on 10 years probation for child molestation was retained and offered reenlistment. A drug dealer was offered immunity for testifying against over 300 of his customers, and was transferred to keep him safe. People who are just trying to live are persecuted and known criminals are aided and rewarded? Any wonder I agree that our military is a mistake for our citizens?

When you get killed, it's a good idea to put a mark as close to your body as you can. That blue mark that you had left from landing was misleading to red/orange. I guess you've got voice comms with your teammates, but I couldn't hear them in this video, but if you DON'T have voice comms, a well-placed navigation mark can help your teammates find your death crate.
