As someone who had been a fan of the show as a child, Peter Davison must have been having the time of his life here.
Unless I'm mistaken, this may be the only footage of Tom actually sharing the stage with Jon Pertwee and Pat Troughton.
Thank you so much for uploading this. Seeing Troughton and Pertwee ribbing together is awesome; they clearly are fond enough of each other to pretend like they're enemies while riding on each other's jokes like old chums.
Troughton was on fine form that day
He really does have a dangerous smile! Perhaps it is for the best that Charisma such as this cannot be bottled, or none of us would be safe. 🇬🇧⚡🇺🇲
What a handsome man Richard Franklin was
Still waiting for Salamander to come back, played by Michael Troughton

I was there. Please post more! I’m so happy these videos survived!
Tom looked years younger here than he did in Logopolis which was 3 years before this show. Working with JNT and being sick on his last reason really made him look tired and old. But here he looked great.
A good one, although my favorite Peter Davison moment is much more recent. At a panel in 2013 he was asked, "What is the strangest gift you ever received from a fan? Peter hemmed and hawed for a bit while he considered his answer, and then some wag in the audience called out, "A grand-daughter!", causing the entire panel to dissolve into laughter. It was, of course, a reference to Peter's daughter, Georgia, marrying Tenth Doctor David Tennant, and the recent birth of their daughter.
NOTES/CONTEXT: His expressed reluctance to take up the role again notwithstanding, Tom did return to playing the Fourth Doctor, but for Big Finish Audio Productions, in 2011. He did his own stunt once, during the shooting of "Sontaran Experiment" (the first location shoot of his tenure in 1974) and broke his collarbone. It happened when Styre knocked him to the ground after The Doctor discovered Sarah being tortured. Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted him using his scarf as a makeshift sling in the second episode. The script he mentions working on with Ian Marter was "Doctor Who Meets Scratchman", which never saw publication until it was released as a novel in 2019, with help from James Goss. (I have a copy) lovely shot of them together at the end. William Hartnell had passed in 1975, and Peter Davison was the incumbent in 1983, so I think that's possibly the record, four actors who played The Doctor together at one time. Although, now that I think of it, in "The Five-ish Doctors Reboot" (2013) there was one scene where Paul McGann appeared alongside Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy. Still four Doctors, though.
I'd heard this story before, but it was so much fun hearing Jon tell it.
Troughton and Pertwee are terrific together.
What a cool, strange guy, i love him. Like all the best Doctors, he wasn't just playing a role - he EMBODIED the role.
Ah dammit, what a missed opportunity, I thought we'd hear them (including Tom) answering questions as they were all sitting down, where's the footage?,...that's the footage we all want to see with Tom sitting with them.
Tom never sat down for questions with the other Doctors. He only appeared together with them for this convention during the photo op session. Sorry.
Tom was on a schedule, and he didn't fancy doing the convention because he had just left the role in 1981, but they talked him into it, and by his own admission he had a good time. He didn't wish to get back into the Doctor Who world so quickly, he wanted to move on. That's why he didn't turn up in "The Five Doctors" except in archive footage. Because of his last-minute schedule wrangling, his time at the convention didn't overlap as much with that of Patrick, Jon, and Peter, so he missed out on most of those panels. (Source: Doctor Who Magazine, I have a back issue from that time that also has a great description of Patrick and Jon's water follies) Of course, I freely admit that my own memories of 1983 are likely imperfect.
@@jmyjoekokomo So what happened at the end here, you can see Tom getting ready to sit whilst Jon is moving forward for Patrick and they all have microphones in front of them, did they just sit there for a split second then stand up and Tom left?! seems a bit odd.
The images you see at video’s end of Tom behind the table with the other actors were taken during the photo opp session. Each actor was introduced, took a seat at the table and then the next until everyone was on stage. Then they all posed for photos (which was when the image of the 4 Doctors occurred). The microphones were used for the Grand Finale question and answer session (available elsewhere on this channel) which happened shortly after, however both Tom Baker and Peter Davison had to depart so that they could make a flight back to London. A pity.
No Tom?
Just like the original Five Doctors! How quaint.
No, he wasn't in the 5 doctors
Someone clearly doesn't get the joke ^😅
It's in The Sontaran Experiment you can actually hear the snap it's grim
I love Pat Troughton. He was my favourite Doctor and an absolute legend.
Best Who episode for 2024! Thanks for sharing this with us.
Simpler times Truly simpler times
We're so lucky to have video of this
Oh man that Salamander question to Troughton has to be the biggest "what if" i would have loved to see him make another appearance as that character. At least Salamander showed up again in a comic
What would've been an interesting twist was the brigadier was actually one of those projections timelords would occasionally utilize before they would regenerate into that form which in this case he could've been a future regeneration of the doctor.
Tom broke his collarbone doing a stunt on Sontaran Experiment
Poor baby he seemed hurt i wanna hug him
It would be pretty hard for Salamander to return, floating through the time vortex and all.
Maybe he just clung onto the side of the TARDIS and hitched a ride like someone else, lol.
@@ArakkoaChronicles Man, they really need to charge for TARDIS bus service lol.
I’d love to see more footage from this! I’ve only ever seen photos before

Best Doctor! ❤
Coincidently. The red Jellybabies are his favourite.
Had enough in ark and the cybermen one..and was very effective at times in s13 as dopplegangers
It's much like the banter between Pete Townshend and Keith Moon in The Who. Doctor Who, The Who. Things like this are vehicles for English eccentricity, which is great. Sylvester McCoy is loony too of course.
What a voice!
Imagine being Doctor Who. I'd love it. These old boys just having a laugh and playing up for the audience.
Thank you for posting the video. I had a VHS copy of a copy of this panel but the footage here is fantastic for 1983. So thank you again.
Spirits, I so miss Patrick Troughton! Got some nerve, Patrick - you've been interrupting the "Scarecrow" for years!! 🤣🤣
Bless her memory. She was a class act. 🌞
Tom later got his own back by tearing up Peter's panama.
We lost Ian far too soon.
They actually did this in a Third Doctor comic
The genreational span of this series continues to be insane. Pertwee and Troughton literally served in the war. Tom Baker, of course, is my parents' generation (a little younger than my dad). And now the lead can be fifteen years younger than me. Or older. It's doesn't even matter. But this was my era of fandom, when I was a paid up member of DWAS and obsessional in exactly the same way as modern fans. Only without their energy!
7:50 how do you feel about Peter Davison tearing up your scarf?
The Brig played Uno Reverse
And Enemy of the world is recovered and complete.
Tom on top form as usual, wish I could hear all of the questions though.
Peter and Nicholas’ faces are priceless here
Jon actually played Worzel longer than he played the Doctor. But he truly loved Worzel enough to do two more series in Australia. "Patrick, shut yer face!!" 🤣🤣
*the actual five doctors*
Absolute classic banter between 2 and 3. Loved it
Mary left us too soon.
