Headcanon: The pouch is filled with low-value coins like nickels. Thus, while The Rabbit would have kept the kid regardless, the decision was incredibly easy.

What a creative and heart-warming story! And the baby mandrake is absolutely adorable!😊
Would have been a cute Plot to see when de badger couldnt raise the mandrake because he wanted to raise it normally how animals would, but the key was, since the baby is a vegetable, to water him and maybe even let him tucked in in dirt to sleep. But otherwise cute Story. I first didnt quite get it because I thought the baby isnt growing.

I wonder why the badger became the villain in this story? He paid a large sum of money to the farmer in exchange to grow the mandrake and when it is time for the badger to collect what he paid for the farmer took that away from him.
