In 1973, the winner of the female solo dancer at the Bastille Day celebrations in Papeete was from the Cooks. Locals kinda pissed because she couldn't speak either French or Tahitian. But they know how to dance in the Cooks.
As Hugh Mcpeake says it should have been named after the Engineer that died in its construction the late William john Pointon 20th November 1963 , there is a memorial plaque half way up the tunnel 0.57 on the left and you can see it.

miniprepper There were a lot of houses flooded on Scenic Way and Tall Timbers (some 3 ft or more) but not sure about Timber View
I currently live on Timber View. 3 houses got water in them. 609, 611, and the house across from 611.Timber View managed to somehow be a high point in the subdivision. Water was about thigh deep on me at the "Timbers" concrete sign.
