Yep there is something intoxicating about the 996s. I’ve had 997.2 3.8 RS and 4.0 RS too. But the 996 is the purer more rewarding drive. They are all great of course, but the 996 just puts you in the middle of this ballet of weight balance :)

Thanks. Yes, there are some videos on the channel. The e46 also comes alive at the ring. Great balance to the chassis. I felt it had the same cornering speeds as the 996 and wasn’t much further behind on pace.

They really are wonderful! I've had all the mezger cars and the 996 is by far my favourite

Yes, no problem. The key mods are: - Uprated brakes (Uber9s discs, Pagid RSL29 pads) - Motorsport/cup diff plates - Cup final drive (8/32) - Nitron 3-way suspension - Single mass flywheel - Engine/exhause is standard oem - Michelin Cup2 Connect tyres

Thanks. Yes I now cannot watch a track video without telemetry 😀 Without it you don’t know what you are looking it - is it fast or slow? Where is it different? How much is the car being pushed? Etc. As you say, being able to compare then to what you do helps with any learning points either about the car or your own driving.

Haha. Joining the circuit I did wonder where it would interrupt the lap. However to be fair to the driver, they were very nice about letting me pass without too much bother

Thanks. Yep I was up 1-2 seconds on subsequent laps but we had live recovery so yellow flags ok circuit. Infact I was also quicker with a 100kg passenger! I think real Pace about about 7:35-7:37

Yeah that’s what I’ve been analysing too. After driving the BAC I’ve got an itch for a faster sequential car 🙈

@@Shakman007 yes probably gearing. Though was not expecting such a difference on terminal speed. I’m wondering if manual car needs some tweaking.

Yep! That is exactly how it feels! :)

Oui slicks. I am also running some increased aero devices - large racing rear wing, front corner aero (aerodynamics package 2), Carbon racing suspension cover, Racing airbox, Racing windshield, Racing headlight covers, longer front splitter, and lowered engine kit :D So the car has good stability in the high speed corners. Low speed is just the natural advantage of a light, low car with high mechanical grip.

@@xcite94 Yes that is the limiting factor. It doesn't have enought straight line power on the longer straights to overcome drag. On the infield it probably can make up time to the 911 race cars. As you will know, Dijon is a funny circuit - it compresses the differences between these cars and we can 'compete' with the higher power cars. At somewhere like Spa or Silverstone the higher powered cars would be long gone.

Hi - yes on slicks. Infact the rears were pretty used slicks in terms of heat cycles - had already been out at Zandvoort 2 days, Silverstone, and Spa. The fronts were new as I had flatspotted the previous set. However the main grip does come from the rears.

Yes it doesn’t look like it, but on the way in I would have committed to go in flat and at the time did not know he was going to move over so lifted early and dabbed the brake (there was no window to take that much pace on the limit into that corner if the other car would have stayed on racing line). Then I also didn’t know that the second car would stay right (beckets is usually not an overtaking place) so hesitated a bit before going back on it. The net effect is that the video doesn’t show actual impeding but I wasn’t committed. I have compared to my previous fast lap and it is clear to see on the trace. Agree with the green bit. The front end was pushing slightly in the very fast corners.

I went through the slick earlier before it was treated and was defo slippy. Then later when sand had been put on it. Then on last lap figured out that it you turn in early then you cross the oil slick whilst driving straight. At this point I was in full send mode 😀

@@LaSource911 yes it was by fluke that we were crossing it without much steering lock. I'm sure the drive (we know who it was) deliberately moved off line as soon as they realised the problem. Experiene.

Thanks - yes it is a PB in this car. I have been 7:30 odd in a XBow on slicks but then that is a different kettle of fish! Though with the learnings on this trip, I think the XBow on slicks should be closer to 7:15-25

@@LaSource911 7:43 is really good for a 996 GT3 I’d say. I was there in my silver 997 Carrera CS but I’m around 8:30 ish at the moment, I’ll try to get closer to that 8 min mark when I get back out the for the Street Series double header in August
