I've been watching your videos for a few weeks and just today I realized that you're my across the street neighbor lol. I am not a Ham, but have wanted to get into Ham for about 30 yrs. Ivd been on 11 Meter since the early 90s! I'd love any info that you'd be willing to offer so I can get my tech license.

At 17 minutes, the little jumper that you attended, is that like a mini J pole?

So is this the same principle as a "Screwdriver antenna"?

Antennas are lightning magnets. Please don't use anything connected to your houses ground. Keep your antenna ground separate or lose everything in your house.

Have owned two of these COMPACtennas and used them primarily on wsjt-x FT4 and FT8 on 20 meters. They work but I have not found them not to be as robust as I would like. Both suddenly stopped working after about a year. If you buy one, follow operating instructions to a "T."

LNA used is from 50mHZ to 4 gHZ - so not useful for HF right?

Another idea is to make a _"trap dipole"_ with a capacitive/inductive trap to isolate each band from the next longest...

Earlier this month I bought my FT891 paired with ATAS-120A. After viewing your video, I now know how to properly tune for FT8. I was trying to tune using the button without making adjustments. The 891 would be my radio when I’m out and about, but I will be buying the 991A for home.

its not a low power application for FT8.. its a weak signal mode. so i run 200-400w .

Why not just tab the coil at rhe 50ohn point,,,way. simpler,,,moving the coil to adjust feed point impedance is a hairpin feed,,,eithet way its very effective and can be used in 1/2 antennas also.

So essentially making a fan dipole out of a multy strand wire if I am following here. Do you pull the remaining wire out of the shielding (the part not connected to the feed end hookup?) I don't get how that would not become a parasidic antenna to effect your bandwidth...

Hams often overthink grounding and bonding. Is a ham transceiver "equipment" or an "appliance"? Why do you need a separate ground attached to your service panel? Why can't you use outlet ground? What electrical code are you speaking about when using an appliance such as an amateur radio transceiver?

Communication on vhf uhf is normally vertically polarised.

Am I the only one that noticed? 80 Meters is 262.5 feet, not 281with a quarter wave of 65.6. 40 Metets is 131.25 feet not 141 with a quarter of 32.8 feet. The 30 meter measurement is correct. But the 20 is also wrong. Hope this helps someone who is cutting wires to exact lengths or do your own conversions.

Decent projects Bandit, especially since I just started messing around with sdr`s. Maybe you can find some way to reduce the actual file size of the vids without affecting the resolution quality. Some vids I download to the laptop to view later, like on my bosses time LOL. So sometimes they end up being too large and take up too much space. 73`s.

This answered a lot of questions I had, thank you! A couple quick questions I still have, as silly as they may sound: 1) When you're cutting those CAT wires to length, do the "dead" ends interfere with the signal (i.e. should you slide them out of the insulation?) 2) What's the difference between grounding to a rod stuck in the earth vs. the ground in a grounded outlet? (I live on the 2nd floor in an HOA + I've also never seen anyone suggest using the ground in an outlet, so there must be a good reason.) 3) When you say "just one wire," referring to the "hot" wire in the core of the run, is this connected to all of the different lengths of CAT wire in the antenna at the same time, or do you have to change the length of the connection based on what frequency you're trying to receive? FYI: FT8 is, in fact, a weak signal mode, not a low power mode. It is always recommended to use minimum output power to make a QSO.

Could a person ground to the outlet plug in a apartment if they couldn't run the ground wire out the window?

18:00 i just found out about how ground can raise the noise floor when it's not done properly, a dipole is much better if you can't do a good ground

2nd year running RTL-SDR with air spy & with a dipole pizza pan antenna. Noise is a big problem; and your design looks very promising. Yep, I need a ground for my tiny rig to mute the noise. The large surface can collect weak signals, but it also overdrives the SDR. For now i just need to reduce the noise. I plan to use mason jar lids to create an old time tuning capacitor to pacify the over driven signal. Thank you for your presentation.

Getting 5 Difrent Conversations In One Frequency IS NOT GOOD, Im getting The Same Problem, But I Change The Antenna Settings, I Mix Mach The ANtennas AUntill I Get The reception I Need Or Want, Sometimes I Don`t Get What I Want , But Thats Why Radio And Antenna Things Are Always Interesting Because To get Best Results You Need To Think Outside Of The Box All The Time And Inovate On The Spot. Make a comparison with a 4 meter long speaker wire, the wire probably works just as well or even better

if i wanted to put this in a vehicle, can i ground to the chassis or will that cause problems? if i do a counter poise, will i get RFI off the vehicle? does the antenna have to be straight or can i make deliberate bends to follow the contour of the vehicle?
