Hello and welcome to Beyond Blender. My name is Theo and I've been designing professionally for over 30 years. I created this channel as a way to share my Blender knowledge, techniques, and learn a few tips and tricks along the way. Me included! 😋
Along the way, I will make mistakes and will sometimes include them in my videos - failure can be a great teacher.
If you enjoy my content, please consider subscribing, it really helps my content reach more Blender enthusiasts and artists of all types😊
Have fun!

Game ready asset in Blender and Marmoset Toolbag 4 - Part 8 #blender #gameassets #marmosettoolbag
In this Blender and Marmoset Toolbag 4 tutorial series I'll be making a low poly (yes, it can be further optimised, feel free to do that) game ready asset from start to finish. And, the time has come...
In this final video of the series, I jump into Marmoset Toolbag 4, import the FBX file and take you through the complete process; from baking to texturing, and exporting your texture maps to be used elsewhere! The possibilities are endless. Enjoy 🫡

Very informative and useful, you earned a new subscriber :) I am definitely saving this for later!
Hi, thank you very much! I'm glad you found it useful and I hope you enjoy my other content too 🫡 Welcome aboard!
Really great video thank you! I´m trying to apply a material to the chain but its only allowing me to add it to the plane and Im not sure on how to rectify this? :)
Hi, thank you for the kind words 😊 if you click on the chain in the Viewport, you won't be selecting the Chain link at all. You'll need to click the Chain link Object in the Outliner 😉
On gettr now...
Thank you my friend, I appreciate it! 🫡

I am really impressed by this series so far. You have a great voice for these tutorials, and you move at a great pace for those of us trying to follow along. If I can make a single recommendation, it would be to do away with the movie clips/memes/SFX throughout your tutorial videos, as I find it takes away from your otherwise fantastic and professional content. Regardless, your videos are top-notch. Thank you for this awesome series!
Thanks for the kind feedback, it's very much appreciated 😊 Wow, thanks re my voice! 🙏🏼Oddly enough, I don't like my voice, I cringe every time I hear it haha That's interesting about the GIFs - I add them in an effort to lighten the mood, add some humour into the vids, but I take your point. I'm sure there'll be videos where I don't add any at all, after all, they take time to source and implement.
Waste of time omfg...
This is looking awesome!!!!!
Thank you 😊🫡
Hello, I'd like to ask if using subdivision surface workflow is bad for game asset creation but if I already made models with subdiv, can you just unsubdivide it to kill excess verts to prepare it for game engines. Btw your tutorials are very helpful
Hi, thanks for the kind words 😊 Usually, Subdivision is reserved only for the high poly version of the model. However, if you already have a model which has Subdivision applied to it, it's possible to Unsubdivide it and get decent results - you might need to manually tidy up some areas, or reduce the triangle count, but that's not too bad for low poly objects. I think it really depends on the model - some might be quite easy to reduce, others not so much.
im looking forward to the next tutorial
Hi, thanks 😊 It's in progress, hope to have it uploaded soon!
I learned more from this one video than 95% of all other tutorials
Hi, glad you found it helpful and informative 😊
cool

Great break down of materials and all the short cuts to the parts you want to see.... appreciate the work you put in.
Thank you, I try my best! 😊
Hi I wonder how you drew the mask along the body of the knife, I cannot really replicate it, any help is appreciated
First, switch to the front or side view so you're facing the side of the blade. Then, use the MASK brush to draw the mask. I used it with STABILISE ticked ON - you can find the option in the STROKE options. Carefully draw the mask and you'll be fine, and get something similar to what I did. If you don't get nice rounded corners in the area that isn't masked, you can set the Mask brush to Subtract (it's next to the Strength setting at the top - a plus and minus switch) and tidy that area up. Or, you can choose to make any shape mask you like, with sharp corners if you prefer.
where was this channel when i was learning blender :p
Thanks! 🙏🏼I was probably procrastinating starting my first video... I was very nervous! 😝
Great tutorial series. Very detailed. I'm not a beginner but this would have been a great starting tutorial to start with.
I really enjoyed making that, great fun! Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it 😊
I love the detailed explanation but I still don't get why you divide the ngons into tris but not leave them as quads
Thanks. So, Blender, like game engines, works off of triangles. I'm sure you know that a quad is two triangles, and instead of just letting Blender decide how to triangulate the quad, I make the edge myself in an effort to maximise efficient triangle area. Basically, I'm trying to avoid very thin triangles. I hope that helps?
@@beyondblender Thanks for the explanation
@董校龙 no problem at all 😊
Dont game engines tringulare meshes for you on import? You probably don't need to worrl too much ngons if your target is a game engine like unity
Yes, correct! Game engines use triangles. I would encourage artists to control the triangulation to some extent, simply for shading, but not a big deal at the end of the day 👍
well done!
Thank you 🫡
Amazing Tutorial thanks for ALL tips
Hi, thank you, and I'm glad you found it helpful 😊

omg this channel is a goldmine for exactly what i want to learn!!! you go at a perfect pace and i love how you mention every hotkey you use no matter how simple it is, also your voice is very calming ♥

Done...
Thank you, Sir! 🫡
nice one
Thank you! 🙏🏼
A q - would using a normal map or a bump map here instead of the SVG work alright?
Hi. Sure, I don't see why not, should totally work - the reason I chose to realise the actual decorations is to show modelling techniques and such 😊🫡
very nice

Too many polygons for a game asset.
I know... totally aware of that. But it also boils down to the purpose of the asset. This for sure can be further optimised, as I've mentioned quite a few times 😉
Sir can you send me the download link for marmoset, I am not able to find the crack file
I'm sure you can find Marmoset Toolbags official site with a simple search 😊
I'm here for the Mormoset stuff but I'm enjoying the vids so far. Keep 'em coming.
Thank you! Will do, more to come, and I'll be making more Marmoset vids in the future 👍😊
added to gettr..
That was quick! Thanks 😊
@@beyondblender I just came on youtube and it came right up on my feed.
Why don´t you convert the curves into meshes? You are retracing the curves which seems to be a waste of time, if the curves are made with the right number of edges you can just join them all and correct any geometry mistakes later if any.
Yes, absolutely, I could have done that. I wanted to model the polys, which I enjoy. It takes me back to the days of very low poly work, but that's just me. Feel free to choose whichever path you prefer. There are other, more efficient ways 👍
Thanks for the feedback btw 😀
@@beyondblender There are always more efficient ways because with 3D software there are usually many different ways to do the same.
@GA-br8wj 💯
why such bad toplogy? to make a low poly hole...very confused.
As I noted and will mention several times in the videos, the topology isn't optimised. Not sure if the holes themselves are an issue - the surrounding topology around the holes, yes, not optimised. Please do try to bear this in mind 🙏
I forgot to remove the Edge loops inside the holes 😝 dissolving those would remove a lot more triangles! 👍🏼
thank u
You're welcome 😉
Just yesterday I was thinking I should pay someone to make buttons for face orientation, merge and normals. This is perfect!
Thanks! It's the simple things... 😊🙏🏼

I don't even use Blender as my main 3d app but thank you for taking the time and sharing this.
Thank you for the feedback! I hope you enjoyed the ones I've released so far... lots more to come for this series 🫡
So at the bottom of my blade [sharp edge] it seems to be so flat it creates a sharp edge on the blades face. Do I crank up the smooth?
Nvm I see I shouldn’t let them clip together how I did great vid
Glad you figured it out! Yeah, avoiding them touching together works. The tricky part is later on when I sculpt the model, you'll see what I mean when I release the video/s 😉but once you figure that out too, it's simple enough lol
Hey man, would you mind telling where can I get the screen cast keys addon that you are using? Thank You!
Sure, it's called YAKD (Yet Another Key Displayer) - it's a standalone software, run it, configure the colours and font (if you want to) and you're done. Tip: fix the window in place, otherwise your mouse will interact with it, which is what you don't want usually 😝 github.com/Jagailo/YetAnotherKeyDisplayer
I'm loving your videos so far, you're such an inspiration to a beginner like myself.
You're very welcome! Glad you find them inspiring - good luck on your Blender journey! 😊
awesome
Thank you! 🫡
