Kolforsen Aurora
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 1 มี.ค. 2023
In late 2022 I installed an Annke NC800 4K, 8MP IP Bullet Camera with F1.0 and an exceptional low lux of 0.005. which basically means great colour images in low light.
The camera is located in the small village of Kolforsen, just outside of Ockelbo in central Sweden. Pointing the camera to the north, I set out to capture the Aurora borealis or Northern Lights in 4K.

Nice but feint aurora on 14th october 2024. The whole event lasted around 6 hours, but as with most aurora it comes and goes. Even with the moon, the green Aurora is visible.

Fantastico 🎉🎉
Bellissimo fantastico 🎉🎉
Very nice ! What camera do you use ?
Is that a forest fire?
No, the area is heavily forested and they fell hectares of trees for wood, paper etc. When they do this it's a 24/7 operation and so they use light in the forest to see. it's just reflecting off a cloud, its quite common to see. Thanks for watching 😀
The beautiful views and melodious sounds of nature are serene 😮🎉🎉
Very good thumbnail.
Thank you, I always put on a thumbnail from the video in question. It's difficult to see, but the timecode of when the thumb was captured in in the bottom left. Hope you like the videos as well 👍
Hey, great shots! 🌟 What gear did you have? What should I consider in my setup, especially settings?
Hi, I think you are under the impression that the videos are from a DSLR and combined into a Timelapse, Im afraid not.... this is a security camera on the back of my house. Mind you, its a good security camera with an F1 aperture and a 0.0005 lux so with out lighting it sees very well in the dark. Its recording live images at .3 of a second per frame and in in Final Cut I tone down the brightness as it is too bright. Hope that helps. Enjoy the videos, and when permitting I post a live stream on to TH-cam as well
Wow! - those clouds sliding over @ 26.00, love it!
I'm guessing that I am looking towards the East, with North to my left?
Hi, if you look for tree in the middle with the flat top, then to the left of that is another tree with a more pointed top, That is approximately due north. Most of the videos I've done you see the Aurora in the NNW position, only when its very strong does it fill the field of view. Hope that helps.
@@KolforsenAurora Thank you. that helps me a lot!
I am playing it on the tv now. It was amazing last night.
It was good, I saw a couple of hours then went to bed. I keep trying with different length videos, what do you think is a good length??
I can stare at it for hours. So I am the wrong person to ask this.😂
gorgeous colors! looking forward to the upcoming months 😊
Hopefully it will be good, the sun's activity is coming to a peak, just need clear skies
pretty! 💚💜 thank for these lovely time lapse videos 💗
So pleased you enjoy them
so very nice 😊 thank you 💚
Glad you liked it, Thanks for viewing
@@KolforsenAurora just wanted to say, the music with this video is awesome.. tranquil and soothing 😌
Is dit 'gewoon' vanuit jullie achtertuin?
Yes it is, I'm lucky enough to have a rear view to the north and very little light pollution, Plus the camera is very sensitive to light so it sees a lot more that the naked eye would see.
Beaitiful pink and green. 💓💚
I missed this. I missed the stars and the night and aurora ❤
2:31:50 shooting star :D
Shhh🤫 don't tell every one or I'll have to change the name of the video 🤣
WoW I just read on BBC News that this Aurora could be seen from many parts of the world, even from the Canary Islands. Do you know where the Canary Islands are? I don't know if you've ever been able to see the Northern Lights from here. I can't believe it, I personally didn't see it.
Hi, Surprised that is could be seen in the Canary Islands, that is very far south in the Atlantic Ocean, just off the coast of Morocco, although it was the most active solar event since 2003.
@@KolforsenAurora Yes, exactly, there are photos on Google. One photographer said, "I never thought I could photograph the Northern Lights in the Canary Islands." I'm surprised.
Stunning, playing it on the tv. Kids saw it in suffolk too. See you soon!
Thank you Sandra, need your opinion on length of video, speed of time lapse and music??
I think it's so relaxing with this music. It doesn't distract from the video. It lifts it up
There is a meteor shower called Eta Aquarrid peaking this weekend.
Thanks Sandra, I'm looking out for this event, but typically, it's gone cloudy again. See you both soon!
probably space debris
You could well be correct, Its the haze around it that has me puzzled
@@KolforsenAurora i'm thinking the mist was created by the heat coming off the object as it traveled through the cooler air
Hello, these are nice impressions. What unit is your time based on? CEST or UTC? There is a gap from 23:32 to 01:38. Too many clouds? It was exactly at this time that I had my maximum aurora observation. Best regards from Germany.👍
Hi, Thanks for the comment. The time code is CET or UTC+1, local time in Sweden, which I believe is the same as you. You are also correct the gap is due to complete cloud coverage, as the title says it's the "best bits" from the night. After editing out the clouds the video was around 3 hours in length from sunset to sunrise and this was reduced in Final Cut Pro to around 50 minutes really to fit the length of the music. The complete unedited video is on the live stream page which runs for 8 hours. I try to live stream when ever possible. Regards from Sweden / UK
Great job ❤❤ Thanks for your charm videos ❤
Thank you,, much appreciated. Very shortly there will be posted a 50 minute "Best Bits" from last evenings live stream, and that is looking really good, marred by some clouds at times, but they clear to some beautiful views of the Aurora.
*PromoSM* 😢
OMG the stars!
Beautiful
Thank you,. try this one with where there was a great Aurora. th-cam.com/video/OcTxBj3OY-o/w-d-xo.html
@@KolforsenAurora thank you❤️
too fast to be space debris, thats a meteor, Also shooting stars ARE meteors so..
Not a lot of solar activity unfortunately!
Nothing visible in these latitudes Jerry, but there is some in the north of Sweden, Norway and Finland, so I live in hope
Beautiful 😻😻😻
I worked as a planetarium director. I wish i had that video for teaching.
Magnificent. At one point it looked like the trees had green flames. I have a question, how many hours of sunlight are there at this time of year?
Hi, its about 6.5 hours at the moment, Glad you liked the video, the Aurora can be spectacular at times
@@KolforsenAurora Yes it is. More people should appreciate the Earth System (Gaia) and nearby space. 💚💙
This is amazing ❤
I enjoy watching the northern lights on TH-cam channels. Its a bucket list item for me. I want to go far enough north to see them. I live in southeast United States. No chance of seeing them here.
Wow🎉
A spectacular meteor shower that is lighting up the skies for two months will peak on Saturday 21st October. The Orionid display started on 2 October and will last until 7 November. The shower originated in debris of Halley's comet, one of the most famous in history. If you spot any meteors in the live stream, please comment with the time code from the bottom left of the video an I will edit together a short video of all sightings. There is a spectacular one at 06:10:35
😮
How Beautiful
