What does food mean to you? Where does it come from, what does it do? And, most importantly, is it Real?
These are just a few of the questions that the 5th grade students and their teachers at Sullivan West Elementary School answered when STEAM teaching artists, Beth and Scott Bierko, came to share the Real Food Songwriting Program in May of 2024.
With the artist's help, the students learned about the difference between real and processed foods, composed new song lyrics, and recorded a brand new version of “‘Real Food Rules!”
This program was provided by the STEAM Fund at CFOS with the educational guidance of A Single Bite and all of the great stakeholders, administrators, teachers, and staff of Sullivan West Elementary School.
