The Feuerhand is galvanised and powder coated. That is what you should buy. There are also Feuerhand lanterns that are only galvanised, I can not recommand them, they tend to rust. My deep Blue one has no rust at all after years of (outdoor-) use.

What's going on with the air holes on the bottom part of the chimney on the Dietz lamp? They seem unevenly spaced and randomly placed.

I got 2 of these German lanterns at 10 euros each, almost impossible to light them with a Vesta, you have to use such a long neck gas lighter, and these buggers only work for a short while, at least mine always did, after refilling you can try and try and try and if you are lucky you get a flame once in a while.

When I woke up this morning, I never thought I would order a Feuerhand Lantern. Matter of fact, I didn't think lantern at all. But because of your video, I just ordered one (11/13/24). Got it from W. T. Kirkman Lanterns, lot cheaper than Amazon.

Made in India Lanterns better than this Dietz perhaps not so good as the German costed about 2 USD in my town before they went out of production because of LEDs. I still have 3-4 of them. Long ago when bullock carts were around, they served as a head light, a tail light and a night light on long night sugarcane hauls

I think the main difference between the chinese and the german model is, that when you leave the chinese one out in the rain for some nights, it will start to rust. You can leave the german one out in the weather for years, and it will never rust, cause its so well done. Additional, you can get spare parts, like a new glass, for the german one without any problems.
