I wanted to try a home construction project on my parents' land here in #minnesota - I had no idea what I was doing, but thought it would be a fun challenge.
My dad showed me the basics of structural framing and had some good ideas along the way. Other than that I figured things out as I went. Had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I hope to do bigger things in the future, but this was a project to learn and cut my teeth.
I was pretty broke, so I had to use whatever we had laying around; fortunately, there was a good amount. We had leftover lumber, tar paper and metal from some remodels, and I #repurposed wood from some dilapidated structures around the farmstead. Sometimes my folks would chip in, and I only bought the things necessary to move the project forward as I went.
All in all, I think it turned out pretty well. Made plenty of mistakes, but that's a topic for another video.
