    Hey man, I just wanted to make sure my email made it through to you. I was going to see if you could send me the file for the wing (the version you improved/strengthen). I am in the process of repairing the old one you send me but I am not sure how many more times I will be able to fix it! 🤣 Also, do you think it would be an easy fix to make a version that is only 4.5 inches long (making the side fins stop at the 2nd diffuser on the back of the wing/making the wing about 60% the original size)? I can get it the original version printed and then cut it down and glue new side fins on it though so not a big deal if it isn't an easy adjustment. I found I can print them cheaply using CloudCraft (I just ordered new mounts to repair the one your originally sent me. Thanks!

    Have you tried messing with the spur size on 4s? IE 23/33, 23/31, 23/29? Also, I'm only making odd # examplese because I read somewhere that having even numbers for gearing (whether mesh or chain or w/e) isn't idea for wear. Especially if all the gears in a set or ratio are even numbered, and it's particularly bad if the ratio is an even or round-ish number like 3:1 or 4.5:1 or 2.25:1.

    Hi! I'm not too sure what you are trying exactly, and it would be interesting to have an explanation about that. Litterally, we can see the difference between aero and no aero in a straight line. but aero componenets where iniatially made for turning at high speed, and can be detrimental in the straights. That's why LMP use low downforce, and why Chaparal tried some excentric variable pitch airfoils. ANother thing of interest, is why would you want these on a buggy? That's a cool idea, but that's going to load the suspention, and jumps are going to be much more scary (especially if the front wing generates more downforce than the rear wing). I think there's much more to learn from this experiment than just a 2mph difference. And thanks for the video! Best regards.

    • @rjs907
      @rjs907 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed response. I'm by no means an expert, but love to tinker. I love the challenge in making something such as the bandit go faster, even though there are better platforms. What I have found, at about 80 to 90mph, the front end picks up and you loose control. Most people who speed run 2wd bandits and rustlers just add weight to the front and call it a day, I went a different route and 3d printed freely available aero from thingiverse. Another youtuber channel briansrcstuff thought adding aero was slowing him down as well as keeping his bandit planted. I was just proved what we both had figured out. My next goal is to figure out hom much does it actually need to keep it stable. I can't design parts for nothing, but have a few ideas I want to try. I should have made this all a little clearer in the beginning. I just want to get to the fun stuff!!! Also its still kinda weird talking to myself in front of a camera, but I think I'm getting better!!!

    What an exciting video (for me anyway)! Thanks so much for doing this! Great results! Here is something to ponder. The physics behind aero drag - if you double your speed there is 4x the drag. At 53 mph your gained about 2 mph vs without aero. You went 106 mph (just so happens to be 2 x 53 mph!) with your car with aero on 6s. If you could run it without aero (which of course you can't... maybe a lot of weight and a prayer would get you close though), you would in theory be able to do about 114 mph (2 mph x 4 = 8 mph 106 mph + 8 = 114 mph!). I may be oversimplifying things a bit but at near 100 mph the extra drag could be quite a bit. Now, I am running the same front spoiler as you but trimmed down to 40% of its original size. The aerodynamics may be a bit different but lets just say I have half the drag you do on the front (my shocks may add a little so 50% seems fair I guess) and lets say the rear wing makes the same drag as the front (it may make more.... it looks more aggressive and has the mounts too.... but it is hard to say as on the back of the car there may be less resistance... IDK). Long story short, I hit a best of 98.7 mph on 3s in my car and a typical run is about 97.5 mph (with some weight added to the front plus my mini spoiler). I am sure the weight slows the car down a little as it may make the voltage sag a little more during a speed run (but otherwise shouldn't have much impact on top speed). I bet with the front and rear wing I would be more around 93 mph on a typical run and maybe an all time best of about 94 mph. I guess I may have to test this..... I was going to run the car today but I was busy and it was a bit warmer than ideal. I also, I am really nervous as my last few runs haven't been great. I get stressed out dong the runs lol. I wish I had a better road! Also, I am running the stock transmitter and range is an issue for me. I think at around 60 to 70 mph I do not have enough downforce and if I hit the throttle too hard, this is where I run into issues with the front of the car lifting (with my most powerful 3s LIPOs). At 80 and above I seem to have enough and the car is planted. I will for sure get it out there in the next few weeks though! I play on cutting down the broken front spoiler to about 60% of the original size and see how that performs too.... should be interesting. Thanks again for doing this! What are your thoughts?

    • @rjs907
      @rjs907 ปีที่แล้ว

      All signs proved your theory!!! A down force is obviously necessary at these speeds, hence why most people just add weight and call it a day. Adding weight will slow you down off the line, but will help keep it planted at high speed. Where as the aero we are using is lighter and will be quicker off the line and keep you planted at higher speeds. The real question is how much down force is really needed??? The guy who posted the 3d files made them for a 2wd rustler, that body has more of a parachuting affect, and may need more downforce to counter act. Active aero sounds intriguing. I think having a variable wing hooked up to a servo mixed with throttle input could be useful. Could be possible at a certain speed you can have less downforce with a large enough surface area with it being almost parallel with the ground. Then again theres guys breaking 220 mph in a limitless with no aero like we are using. Just some horizontal stabilizers on a slip streamed body. Regardless, I its more fun trying to make a slow car fast, then an already fast car even faster.

    • @rjs907
      @rjs907 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! Didn't think to cover the details in the video. I primarily stick with inland brand from microcenter. Pla +, with an infill around 12 to 25%. The front splitter I actually joined both pieces in cura and print it as 1. So I don't have snap the pieces together, it does lead to other issues as it now prints the walls of both parts and gets a little messy. But overall I am happy with the result. I haven't printed anything with abs or nylon yet. I hear they are strong, but my printer is pretty dialed in. Plus, I should really have a fume extractor.

    Clearly you totally over geared in the previous vid compared to Traxxas recommendations for the motor. Now you're just a little over geared. I've seen others over voltage the velineon motor but at 6S you're theoretically hitting 77,700 rpm! That's what the calculations would lead you to believe but those calculations also show you should be doing 189mph . . . 🙄 Given all the work you've already done, I'm sure you've seen in Traxxas docs to generally, try to keep your motor temp below 200° F. Clearly you've proven the aerodynamics are working without having to use lead weights. Deleting the front shocks while relying on the flexible shock towers is thinking out of the box! I will have to rethink my approach!

My speed run buddy LightningDad13 showed me some logs of the temp reduction jumping up to 6.5mm bullets (on the stock ESC)…. But I guess that doesn’t apply to your setup. Ave you tried removing the rear wing yet? Maybe do a 2s or 3s run and see how it reacts. There is still a lot of speed left on the table. I don’t need my wheelie bar anymore. It I have just left it in for now.👍. It saved me from flipping a few times but I am debating taking it off. Love the battery tie down. Wish I hard a better transmitter… still running the stock one.

    I used to be able to do several 3s runs in a row when my car was running the stock power system and in the lower 80 mph range (I never tired when it was really outside however).

    whats the relevance of 2s 3s 4s?

    • @rjs907
      @rjs907 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each "s" represents a cell in a lipo battery pack. Each cell adds another 4.2 volts (when fully charged.) More volts = faster, hopefully.

    Great runs man! That thing looked really stable! I am impressed! I wish I had an ESC I could run 4s...... maybe one day I am going to try to get mine out tomorrow morning ( have to try to beat the traffic). I really wish I had a road like yours with less traffic! I am doing my 1st 3s run with the Hobbywing 120A ESC and it should hit 97-98 mph but we shall see. I think that is the same front spoiler I am running but mine is trimmed down a lot (the plastic mine was made out of was flexing really badly and scraping so I had to trim it and it seems to provide me just enough downforce. For what it is worth, I am not running any rear wing. I don't want to suggest playing with your setup as it looks great..... but maybe if you are looking for more speed down the road no wing might pick up a few mph.... IDK. I have no doubt you can get than car well over 100 mph at 4s as I have seen a Bandit hit 95 mph on 3s with the stock Velineon ESC and motor! Can't wait to see what you do next!

      Thanks!! This road is in an industrial complex, weekends are not too busy or weekdays after 6pm (if I can get out there after work.) I should be able to gear up enough and make 100mph on 4s if the velineon can hold up. ESC is good for 6s, but will be a tight fit with a bandit body. I see most others mention about adding weight up front, with only an aluminum bulkhead upfront and 3d printed aero I'm probably lighter. Sitting at 4 lbs 2oz without a battery currently. I got into this just trying to get faster and faster, so not sure how much past 100MPH I really want to go for as I'm using pretty much all of the available straight section of road. Pushing it on 2s with a high kv motor sounds like a fun challenge though. I have plenty of other RC Projects I want to start sharing on here. Frankenstein 2wd Traxxas mashups ideas and such. One of which will def be more speed run oriented. Good Luck Tomorrow!!! I will be gearing up and making another run as well!!!

      @@rjs907 Awesome. Thanks! I agree, the 2s stuff sounds fun.... not nearly as stressful (I find this near 100 mph stuff pretty nerve racking especially as my range isn't great with the stock transmitter). I bet with the right motor you could get it up to close to 90 mph on 2s.... IDK. I look forward to your new videos. I will try to remember to mention your channel when recording my video - you are doing some cool stuff over here!
