Symfluence is the coming together of two graceful dance styles, Odissi and Mohiniattam. The traditional piece from the Odissi repertoire in ragam Arabhi is reimagined to highlight its Ghana Raga features found in Carnatic music. This innovative piece effortlessly blends the rhythms of pakhawaj and maddalam, showcasing a unique collaboration between music and dance, creating an aural and visual odyssey.
The collaborative process was both challenging and rewarding. Working with artists from different disciplines required us to constantly communicate, adapt, and innovate. The added layer of being geographically apart made the process quite hectic at times, but in the end, it brought out the best in each of us. This project has deepened our appreciation for the interconnectedness of the arts and the endless possibilities that arise when diverse artistic traditions come together.
