The talks between Minh and LT and Egan are profound. The final battle , and the enemies Basecamp, was incredibly dangerous and awesome. They stopped calling Chelinni "Cherry" at the end and we are left to imagine he turned into the next "Egan" if not a little nicer. Or not.
