This video is a timelapse of the southeastern United States nighttime radiance and cloud cover between Feb 16th and May 7th. The data were detected by the VIIRS satellite and processed by me using ArcGIS Pro v2.5. I also noted the start date of each state's COVID-19 quarantine order. VIIRS Nighttime Radiance & Cloud Cover with Raster Functions - ArcGIS Pro
This is my first attempt at a GIS tutorial video, so feel free to skip through at your pace. I welcome questions or feedback. The video explains how to analyze VIIRS nighttime imagery from its Day-Night Band (DNB), taking into account surface radiance and cloud coverage. Multiple ArcGIS raster tools are highlighted. Also, I apologize that the pop-up and drop-down menus don't appear in the video...
South Dakota License Plate Guide

A project I was inspired to do after seeing several South Dakota license plates, reminding me of my old home. Song: "Hail, South Dakota" by DeeCort Hammond, performed by Rick Pickren
Africa by Toto, but harmonized with the Google AI Doodle
I notated the output from the harmonization into Finale, and added the drum set patch. I did this in order to speed up the video to match the song's tempo. Hope you enjoy! And I hope there will be more and more machine learning applications with music. (Made possible by the Google AI Harmonization Doodle from 3/22/2019)

I've been playing Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer" for about a decade now, and this video shows just how much my piano playing ability has improved! The first rendition is from 2009, filmed in my 5th grade class. The second rendition is from this month, filmed in my junior year of college. The 2019 rendition was arranged by Jacob Koller. th-cam.com/users/jkmusicpublishing
F-22 Lightning II (Novalogic, 1996) Complete Remastered Soundtrack
Remastered MIDI tracks! This was one of my favorite childhood flight simulators. Music composed by James Donnellan. If you're curious, I essentially just converted the MIDI files to an mp3 or related format (making sure to the MIDI channels corresponded to the appropriate instruments). At times, I used the Garritan ARIA player to play back the MIDI files using an orchestral sound bank. After a ...
F-22 Lightning 3 (Novalogic, 1999) Complete Soundtrack
This was one of my favorite childhood flight simulators. And as I grew up, I realized just how intricate the interaction between the game and the music was. The composer of the electronic soundtrack, Alan Koshiyama, created a bunch of short audio snippets that, when strung together, sound like a full track. But certain in-game events trigger different audio files, usually within 4 seconds. This...
F-22 Raptor (Novalogic, 1997) Complete Remastered Soundtrack
Remastered MIDI tracks! This was one of my favorite childhood flight simulators. And as I grew up, I realized just how great and intricate the music was. The composer, Joseph Kolkovich, produced an astounding 20 minutes or so of fully orchestrated music, just for F-22 Raptor! As a listener in 2019, the in-game MIDI files don't do it justice - nor does this audio version quite do it, either. If ...
International Space Station (ISS) Flyby, 07/24/2018
The International Space Station, making one of its many evening flybys over Western Washington, USA, during late July. It's apparent magnitude was about -2.0, making it among the brightest lights in the night sky. This video is shown in real time, filmed on my iPhone. Does anyone know what that streak of light at the very end was?
I'm sorry, Bach.
We all have bad days. This was just plain comedic. I recently played a 15-minute program at WWU, starting with a simple Bach piece. But I.... missed a note, and just improvised Bach for over half the song to avoid stopping and reorienting. The rest of the program went great, though!

Return to base for debriefing Recently i discovered a easter egg in one of the quick missions: its one of the snowy ones, when i completed it and returned to base i saw a lone friendly unit flying away. That "aircraft" was a small ghost named Boo Ghost 1. It had a speed of a helicopter and a missile engine sound.

    • @alialibeyoglu7532
      @alialibeyoglu7532 ปีที่แล้ว

      increase your speed, take the incoming missile to your 90 degree left or right and try to keep the missile on your one side while flaring or chaffing. Or, reduce your altitude immidietely so close to the ground and keep it on your top while increasing your speed. Do not slow down, do not let it come from your behind or front directly. Here you have it, you survived.

    How do you identify the radiance value in the attribute table?

    • @ermian9888
      @ermian9888 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Build Attribute Table tool creates a frequency table of the values making up the input raster layer (in this case, radiance). Since the values are floats, the frequency table rounds them to the nearest integer, organizes them in the "Value" column, and counts how many exist in the clipped region. When running summary statistics, the decimals are preserved. You could go one step further and extract pixels at "Value = x" using raster calculator.

  • @klavenqt
    @klavenqt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm kinda new to these stuffs. How do you get that urban and rural areas? Did you just create it?

    • @ermian9888
      @ermian9888 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! I downloaded municipal boundary shapefiles for each state, and used the Buffer tool to expand those boundaries by one mile. I did this because ambient urban light outside city limits would be mistaken as rural. Then, I "rasterized" the layer (converted from polygon to raster) to calculate radiance and cloud statistics; this is required because I need cell-to-cell comparison.

    • @klavenqt
      @klavenqt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ermian9888 Hmm that's good to hear. Anyway that was a month ago and that time I was really looking for other options for my research. Luckily I get to know more about QGIS which prolly have the same aspects as with ArcGIS. I also downloaded shapefiles of municipal areas. I use it for zonal statistics plugin with the help of raster layer of VCMSLCFG and yeah, it's my first time to actually made a statistical output for this kind of research. Thank you btw.
