Back before Benriach rebranded their curiousitas 10 yr used to be a non-chill filtered whisky, and then it dropped from the label. Sadly it seems they didnt bring it back with the rebranded versions.

I just had a dram of it this morning... Chased it down with a Glasgow 1770 Single Malt.

Scout, a friend recommended the 10 yr Smoky but going on line to buy, decided to jump up to this 12 year. I liked the balance and restrained smoke.

I’ve never had one of those cinnamon whiskies, but it seems like every time I’m at a liquor store somebody is buying a gigantic bottle of Fireball or something similar. Must not be too bad if people love it so much

Did they use former Bourbon barrels for this or how did they get around the Bourbon laws?

I miss this one now that it’s gone. I should have bought a few bottles back when I had the chance. I avoided the new 7 year Bottled in Bond out of spite for as long as I could. I’ve been drinking it this week and it’s pretty damn good.

I need to try more Irish whiskies, I’ve usually liked every pot stilled one I’ve had. Have you had any of the Spot whiskies? I’ve always heard good things about them, and Redbreast

I've yet to really love a Woodhat yet. Jean and I have driven by the distillery many times. We just need to pop in and see what cask strengths they offer on-site. Cheers to ya.

Scout, got a sample from a bourbon friend about 6 years ago. Since I'm not a peathead, I was surprised that I kinda liked it. Did not get as much floral as you did. Agree, did not buy a bottle at about $65 around here back then.

Never had this one, but I can buy one at a local mom and shop. good to hear a review. I gotta say, your review sounds exactly like the kind of stuff I'd say. Maybe I'm having a moment, but it's oddly spooky to me. No telling if our palate preferences overlap though.

Carolans Irish Cream is very nice (and relatively affordable)! I’ll watch for this Salted Caramel variant. Would be great poured over a scoop of ice cream.

Sorry for the late comment here (catching up on your catalog as a new subscriber), saw Aman’s in the title and wondering if it was from here in SE Wisconsin. And indeed, Aman’s is considered one of the finest beer & whiskey spots in this region. Good guy, great products…I would trust his store picks with utmost confidence.

I’ve enjoyed your appearances on Louisiana Beer Reviews page’s hangouts, so gave you a follow here. I appreciate your palate and the thoughtfulness and honesty of your reviews. I didn’t know Jeppson‘s had a bourbon, as they’re most (in)famous here in SE Wisconsin for being the Chicago brand that unleashed the dreadful Malort on the world. Jager, I can take. Underberg, I can take. Malort…just vile stuff. But Chicagoans love it.

Scout, really enjoy their 12 year and I'm cheap so didn't try the 15 since it was about double the price. But had a pour and was blown away by how good it is so bought a couple of bottles. CHEERS!

Interesting comparison. Sounds like the higher abv gives more wood interaction increasing the vanilla and caramel notes - which would make sense. Too bad it is a chore to get through. I know all about picking to many of those kind of bottles😅

My bottle says "Natural Color" and "non-chill-filtered". I love it!

Won’t even look at it at the liquor store… A no go go sure 😂
