    I had been thinking about the importance of sentence stress& intonation in grammar lessons before I came across an article where Thornbury mentions that sentence stress is better learned in a context because it differs from one situation to another based on the message that the speaker wants to deliver. Despite the fact that content words are the stressed ones in a sentence, there is always one prominent word that carries the stress of the entire sentence, which cannot be identified out of the context. This idea makes me a bit skeptical about the validity of teaching sentence stress in every grammar lesson. I might highlight that content words are more likely to be stressed once throughout the course, but my main focus in this lesson would be on weak forms. I'm not sure if that would be all right, though. What's ur take on that? ps. I like how you demonstrate your lessons; it is so engaging. Is it a graphic software?😁

    • @hamedshiref2972
      @hamedshiref2972 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, Radwa. I completely agree with your point. However, if stress differs based on a situation or context, this will be the irregular aspect to the rule of sentence stress. Although I mentioned that we can focus on senentce stress, this is not something that should always happen. However, it will be difficult to focus on weak forms without focusing on stress. In the video, the sentences are out of context but in a real lesson, they would be. Plus, I belive focusing on one word to carry the main stress will be more of contrastive stress. I am using a new software, yes 😁.

    • @radwaayman7829
      @radwaayman7829 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hamedshiref2972 I meant that the idea behind "sentence stress" is fixed: content words are more likely to be highlighted than function ones. Once students are aware of this point, I feel there is no point in highlighting it again unless it sheds light on something different. What's more, I thought about only highlighting waek forms since they can be considered as the new piece of information in the lesson. I mean, although students might know that "have, has, and been" are function words, they still need some guidance to pronounce them accurately in spontaneous speech. I'm really thankful for the chance ur videos and posts give me to reflect on things I learned about. 🙏✨

    Good evening sir. While delivering the lesson to the volunteer students, do they use a specific course book, or is everything based on my planning as a trainee? If the lesson is about reading, for instance, will students depend on the text I will provide them with and follow the three stages of a reading lesson, or will they be using a course book and following its plan and stages? Many thanks for all efforts you are making.

    • @hamedshiref2972
      @hamedshiref2972 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally, it is much better to use a coursebook. Plus, if your main aim is reading, Ss do not have to do writing at the end. It could be speaking. However, if the main aim is writing, then Ss do one or two reading tasks then move to the writing stages to save time for the writing.
