A visit to the lake east of Oskemen on the Irtysh river. You can see the hydro electric plan. Next to this is the deepest lock in the world, more than 40 meters.
Oskemen Festival

Festival in Oskemen, Kazakhstan, bees and honey, a grand parade, and a walk in the park. Lots to eat and they would not let me pay. Sorry, but the music used has got nothing to do with Kazakhstan.

A short hop over the mountains to the Coffee growing area. Landing requires skill and lots of flap.
Landing on a mountain top. Bogota to Bucaramanga
มุมมอง 62213 ปีที่แล้ว
Bucaramanga airport sits on top of a mountain. When a plane lands it does not lose height so much as the ground rises to meet it. One of the more unusual landings you could experience. The video shows the spectacular scenery on the flight from Bogota to Bucaramanga.
Views of Barichara and Guanes, Colombia
มุมมอง 1.6K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Near San Gil, Colombia are the small country towns of Barichara and Guanes. Safe, peaceful and quiet, nothing much happens there but they are well worth a visit. They are both beautiful mountain towns, unspoilt by the modern world.
Bucaramanga to San Gil

Bus ride from Bucaramanga to San Gil. Just $8 dollars and worth every cent! The bus climbs over the mountains, and passes by Chicamocha. The San Gil area is beautiful.

Sailing Regatta, Cartagena - December 2009
What happened to the wind vane?
The vane worked well but it was a real pain getting the paddle up in rest mode. We tried making an elaborate hinge mechanism but it never really worked. In the end we worked out that with the sails well balanced the boat would keep a course for ages with a bungee cord or two.
I am watching all your videos. I have been sailing to Cartagena all my life and I am in contract with a southen cross 31 now survey on monday.
Good luck and good sailing. I left Cartagena quite a few years ago. Spent a few years in Kazakhstan. SC 31's are great boats, they can cross oceans, I never felt worried at sea. My boats could sail itself with a few bungee cords. The one thing that caused me problems was the engine, find a boat with a reliable unit.
I'm sure they felt uneasy. Remember 1741 lads.
🙂♥️
07:59 to get there is a quick trip. ty
A beautiful Southern Cross 31 with some lovely music
Bien bonito el video.
Beautiful.......free-sailing your bliss captain....well done. You sail past my thoughts from time to time.
well Julie you might sail through my thoughts too if I knew or could remember who you are!
great video and music
did you finally sell the sc 31?
sorry for delay, not been looking in here recently, how do we know each other?
Beautiful scenery
Very nicely done. Thanks. I'll check the rest of your stuff out too. - Capt. Paul
I think the music is by Philip Glass, one is called Orange Tree
Can I ask the artist of the soundtracks?
very nice, some day I am going to see it...yeaaa..:)
Hi, sorry can´t remember, clearly, just behind the wing.
Hi. What seat was it on that flight? thx
Glad you liked the video, you can see some more of the island on our latest video, Cartagena to Isla Mujeres, enjoy!
Happy music for such a stress full event ! Been in need of the same repair, bulldozer broke through the ice of Lake Huron, Michigan, just one track submerged. Long, , wet, freezing cold night. Had to do the repair myself.
@karpiu77 Is this the fish? or a navigation mark? (black cone)
black cone???
@TheDamnSpot Glad you liked it. Just a few mile from Cartagena is Cholon, a wonderful alternative to the busy city.
Man, this makes me want to travel... Great video, thanks.
@ahboybluey Thank you for pointing out the obvious. Not sure I understand what you write about the frigate, I certainly never made any such request. When going through any channel I keep well out of the way of ships, if the water allows, I keep to the other side of the bouys. Simple common sense. THIRD officer eh, impressive!
wow that thing is awsome
Another 20 years and this might be the norm for offshore vessels...
@werlecar Many thanks. The channel is around 80 feet at that point, but it gets very narrow. Those ships get very close. Out on the ocean the sea floor drops away until the depth sounder find ´no bottom´ In those remote places weeks can pass without a sight of ships or boats.
I would love to see that one day. Just imagine how deep the water is! Thank you for posting this, I love the big ships and the ocean. The mysteries of the deep~
@airborne373 Thanks, glad you like it. Can seem like living the dream down here, sometimes!
Hope you have fun sailing your new boat, they have lots of features usually only found in larger boats.
Yup, I have to agree. What boat did you buy?
We all live and work down here, our sailing is mostly at the weekend. But, when we do sail we do have fun!
yes I am trying to wait patiently for the right boat. I have also been searching for a Alberg 30 since i know a few of them have been around the world. Can you give me some other names of boats I could look up? I think I have covered almost all the full keel tiller steering sailboats in the 28-32ft range but if you can give me more i'm all ears. Thanks Chris
My advice is wait to find the right boat, and when you do drive a hard bargain. I think this is a buyer's market. I'd be happy to suggest some alternatives to SC 31's. But, the SC is a great boat, tough, sea worthy, loads of space to carry stuff, and quite fast for its size and weight. When the wind gets strong, it will keep going.
thats right I forgot you had said once the recession hasn't hit yall yet. Same here I'd rather a boat that was factory done
You could be right, but boats seem to sell for quite high prices down here. The recession has not hit here, yet! Either way, I would prefer a factory completed boat, unless you can find a REALLY well crafted and professionally completed boat.
yeah I seen this boat once online and then never seen it again. Thought maybe it had sold. The funny thing is this exact boat which I think it is the one you're talking about sold in pensacola FL like 2 years ago and sold for so much less then what the new owners want for it in DR. and there doesn't seem to be anything new on here. Sure wish this boat was in the states now and i think the new owners could sell it faster if it was
Never had to change one of those. I cannot imagine that it can be done in the water, but you never know in Colombia! I note that there is a SC 31 for sale on the Dominican Republic, self build interior, over 30,000!
that was really cool I'll have to remember this trick for later on. Now the cutlass bearing how do you replace this? I assume the boat has to be outta the water for it correct?
Good question, there has to be more space than I realized. When they pulled the shaft out they plugged the top first while the shaft was still half out, then the bottom. This is Colombia, they improvise! Glad you liked the video.
haha how did that guy get in there? and pretty cool I had no idea you could do that while it was still in the water. Gosh it looked way to easy
@welderman27 Glad you liked the video, does not seem to get much colder down here. In these months the winds get much stronger, maybe up to 30 mph. That sail was in winds around 18 mph, we were flying!
nice video, doesn't look like much of a winter for the way yall are dressed :)
Many thanks JoJo and Welderman, Glad you enjoyehe video. I had planne d to sail 70 miles to Covenas, no wind changed plans. Anyway, Cholon seemed much better, sheltered and requires no check in and payment. Five days to relax, listen to the Parrots in the trees and watch the fish feed. Regards from cartagena
another awsome video
Its really good to see your part of the world.....thanks again.
Hello, It was a pleasure to meet you, I am pleased that you enjoyed your time aboard. We'll see you again another time in Cartagena.
Wauu, I remember last September we went to cartagena 4 days for my daughter´s birthday. We spent a good time in this boat... ¡what a experience ! Thank you for this beautiful trip around tierra bomba . Hello from Medellín, we hope see you again...
Hi JoJo, never sailed on the Clyde, maybe some time in the future. Busy shipping areas are a worry. Depening on the channel, there is often little a ship can do to avoid a small boat. Far out at sea those ships most likely never see the yachts they pass. Where can I see a picture of your boat? Best P
Good video & excellent music. I know its not the samebut.we quite often pass a couple of hundred yards from merchant traffic, trawlers and warships. The Clyde can be quite busy at times, as last week one of our club members had to call up a French Frigate to advise him to take avoiding action.which he duly did. I have not been out much at night on Gina.but seriously hoping to this next season as I find it so surreal and relaxing.
