Nathan Wayne Endicott is married, a father of four beautiful children, a licensed civil engineer at a water utility, and a dedicated bow hunter. Wayne Endicott (dad) spent most of his childhood days either working on the farm, trapping furbearers, following a pack string into the wilderness, or fishing the river for steelhead. As a young adult, Dad purchased The Bow Rack in Springfield, Oregon and has owned the business for 34 years. Wayne Endicott Sr. (grandpa) would capture remarkable photographs of his outdoor adventures and record film on reels. Endicott Films was founded in 1947, when grandpa purchased his film projector, initiating a legacy of outdoor adventure filming. Dad and I have full-time jobs, but we love hunting, fishing, and sharing those experiences. Hunts are filmed and edited by Nathan Endicott, but collectively, Endicott Films is a family heritage.
Sitka Blacktail | SE Alaska OTC | Adam Krick
Adam and I met a few years ago through his podcast, Tongas Talk, and we both really wanted to do an adventure bow hunt in SE Alaska for Sitka Blacktail deer. This film captures that experience and I really appreciate Adam and his friendship.

Missing rush hour traffic on your way to work is a good thing. Missing a massive pothole on a gravel road or a deer crossing the road is also a good thing. But missing a potential world record non-typical blacktail deer is not a good thing. I hit the California OTC blacktail hunt, zero to sixty, and my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity passed me like a quick glimpse in the rearview mirror. I wante...

This film is about how their hunts come together, at the same time, on what would be known as their Pinnacle blacktail bucks. Hunting can mean many different things to many different people; notoriety, bravado, reputation, popularity, are just a few things that can give hunting a bad rap. However, i believe that the inward journey is just as important as the outward and this film highlights great character along with the hunting experience. Let me know what you think of this film. How do you feel about still-hunting? To my great relief, there is a still-hunting method that requires exceptional effort and movement while minimizing sound. Contrary to the English definition of “still,” the absence of sound or movement, my still-hunting method is a demanding activity that could more appropriately be classified as “insidious,” moving slowly with harmful effects. @@ethanturner8096 thank you, pretty crazy timing. I’ve seen a couple fights but this was the first time the bucks were in the open.

What units were these?
@@BillyWaugh88 I’ve been to AZ a few times and I’ve been to at least 14 units and have found bucks in nearly all of those units. While I never share what those are, it goes without saying that AZ has a good deer population and every unit can produce a mature buck.
@@NathanEndicott_Films lol ive lived here my whole life i was asking out of curiosity not that i want your secret spots haha or you to guide me lol. hunters are so weird with that shit. the chiricahuas are great 30a/b 31 29 10 13a/b 20A 17 13a/b 12. its not like its a fucking secret lol but hey do you bro i wont ask or entertain your chnnel again dont want you worried ill steal your spot smh
@@BillyWaugh88 I understand what you mean and thank you for the response. Also, your lucky to live in AZ. It’s a curtesy to you that I don’t share units, at least that’s what my friends who are residents appreciate. I don’t film and edit and hunt with the intention of giving up unit names which seems to offend most of my friends who hunt. I do this to share my appreciation and opportunity we have to hunt. The film talks about that.
What a perfect example of a mature Columbian Blacktail. The quality of this video makes me feel as if I'm right there. Awesome!
Thank you and love that 🙏🏽
Man you have some incredible footage of blacktail
Thank you!! I packed an 8-pound lens on this hike 😂 I’m obsessed with hiking and learning and this was one of the more perfect days in the woods I’ve ever had. It was incredible.
@NathanEndicott_Films I try to get as much film as I can when I see him. Never got anything quite like this quality
nice footage! you must be a cliff ninja sneaking up on those blacktail like that! its so cool seeing these close encounters. thanks for sharing
Cliff ninja is an epic name!! I need to save that for a future film 😆. I am getting a lot better at expecting deer in certain places, I had never been to this area before but the way I moved through it was as if I knew it well. Also, I got lucky.
I love it
🙏🏽
Awesome! I finally found some blacktails on public land in unit 16 and went back up to the spot and now there's guys with chainsaws and weedeaters clearing trails. This might be my forst year getting skunked.
Oh no! That’s not good for blacktail action. Might have to bounce around. Keep after it!
Hi Nathan, I watch a lot of your vids because Blacktail are rare to see video of, But you seem to have it dialed!! Any grunting or fighting vids would be Awesome to see! I've taken two Bucks rattling and calling but this just gave me some of their real sounds! Thank You so much for sharing, keep up the GREAT WORK!! Doug.
@@joepodunk284 thank you, Doug! I just love the places these deer live and wish I could spend more time hiking and learning. Also, I’m very passionate about hunting and filming. Hopefully more short films which are easier to edit and a few more longer films this next year but finding the time is pretty hard, kids and work and family take priority. Thanks again and really appreciate the kind words.
@NathanEndicott_Films Thank You for responding! I understand the busy family life which I totally get, I was wondering do you ever rattle and use grunt calls If so, what calls do you like? Do you have any vids on this technique? I'm subscribed but haven't checked and I'm wondering. Just watched your latest short, that four point was AWESOME! As he "snorted" and bounced away. Thanks again.
@ I don’t personally like to rattle but I will use the Primos Can call. Check out the Blacktail Deer Tactics film in the calling section to see my dad show how to do that. My dad has killed half of his bucks by calling.
@NathanEndicott_Films I will do that!! I have the three pack of those exact calls. Thanks 👍
In a dessert they gotta categorize these deer better, lowland guys stand no chance against these open dessert deer, behave like muledeer with better minerals and potential muley genes

@@JessieFoss-z4f it was pretty wild!! I’ve hunted blacktail for over twenty years, and that was a first for me.
I’ve only heard a Blacktail grunt once. And it was September of 2016 about 5 minutes before I shot my first elk. I already filled my deer tag the day before otherwise I probably would’ve waited for the buck to show and missed my chance at the lone cow that was making her way through the creek bottom.
That’s epic! My heard my buck grunt behind me before I even knew he was there this year. That was pretty wild. It’s fun to see them vocalize and it’s surprising loud!
Cool
I've never heard a deer grunt like that.
My buck from this season grunted really loud behind me, never would have known he was there unless he made that sound.
