Nathan Wayne Endicott is married, a father of four beautiful children, a licensed civil engineer at a water utility, and a dedicated bow hunter. Wayne Endicott (dad) spent most of his childhood days either working on the farm, trapping furbearers, following a pack string into the wilderness, or fishing the river for steelhead. As a young adult, Dad purchased The Bow Rack in Springfield, Oregon and has owned the business for 34 years. Wayne Endicott Sr. (grandpa) would capture remarkable photographs of his outdoor adventures and record film on reels. Endicott Films was founded in 1947, when grandpa purchased his film projector, initiating a legacy of outdoor adventure filming. Dad and I have full-time jobs, but we love hunting, fishing, and sharing those experiences. Hunts are filmed and edited by Nathan Endicott, but collectively, Endicott Films is a family heritage.
Overcome | Blacktail Deer | OTC Archery
Missing rush hour traffic on your way to work is a good thing. Missing a massive pothole on a gravel road or a deer crossing the road is also a good thing. But missing a potential world record non-typical blacktail deer is not a good thing. I hit the California OTC blacktail hunt, zero to sixty, and my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity passed me like a quick glimpse in the rearview mirror. I wanted to turn around and take a second pass, but that’s not how hunting works and my arrow deflected high over the top of the velvet 10x8 buck. WOW! That was one wild ride, and I couldn’t wait to try it again! Fortunately, I found myself in a similar situation just three months later.

This film is about how their hunts come together, at the same time, on what would be known as their Pinnacle blacktail bucks. Hunting can mean many different things to many different people; notoriety, bravado, reputation, popularity, are just a few things that can give hunting a bad rap. However, i believe that the inward journey is just as important as the outward and this film highlights great character along with the hunting experience. Let me know what you think of this film. How do you feel about still-hunting? To my great relief, there is a still-hunting method that requires exceptional effort and movement while minimizing sound. Contrary to the English definition of “still,” the absence of sound or movement, my still-hunting method is a demanding activity that could more appropriately be classified as “insidious,” moving slowly with harmful effects. Was it on private property? That makes a HUGE difference. It would be nice to let everyone in advance if it was because if it was i would never have watched this. just an fyi.
@@MrFishingnut71 this is not on private land, and why do you think it was?
I'm looking to get OTC archery mule deer tag this year .. if I buy one do they give you a specific zone you have to hunt??
@@brandoncousins8673 nope. Most of the state has open units but you have to watch for the closure list because of the quota system. Definitely need to read the regulations for deer before buying a tag.
U have to call or check online everyday to see if a unit is opened or closed until the following year
@@AGGITATOR I think I just watched the website link for deer quota. There is some strategy to it the list and how units close on Wednesdays: “When the number of deer equaling the archery deer harvest limit for a particular unit and species has been reported, that unit will be closed to further archery deer hunting at sundown the Wednesday immediately following.” - website
Great job!

Awesome film as usual! I'm getting into hunting blacktail and I'm wondering what elevation to chase them in November? I'm looking towards the high country western oregon as well.
@@MrPress6 it all depends on the spot. Each area is a little unique.
Awesome video Nathan, been watching your content for a while now and I definitely got the bug to go and try my hand at Oregon Blacktail hunting, I hunt here in the sierras of CA and am applying some of the skills I’ve been picking up from other Pacific Northwest hunters
Thank you! 🙏🏽 I love it down there! I’ve been down a few times this year and love camping out up high in the alpine. Oregon just doesn’t have the same habitat as the high country down there.
@@NathanEndicott_Films no problem👍🏼🙏🏻 yeah the high country out here is something else, nothing like it. Missed my chance and a big 3pt I’ve been watching since June yesterday. Did some still walking through thick cover and missed my shot when I jumped him. The hunt continues
@@Simpleoljesus it’s been super hot and that’s not helping much. I was down there on Thursday and saw two small bucks and a bear. I still have 1-deer tag and the bear tag so hopefully I’ll connect on a good buck. The bear was on a mission and didn’t stop.
@@NathanEndicott_Films keep at it, I’m sure you’ll be blessed with an oppurtunity eventually, been listening to some podcast you’re on as well as others with Scott Haugen and a few other people. Definitely helping me put the pieces together.

Awesome video and so cool that you give the glory to God. I shot my first archery buck otc in az a few weeks ago. He was only a little guy after getting close to several bigger bucks throughout the week without a clear shot. I’ve been battling stage 4 cancer for the past two years so this buck meant so much to me. I’m grateful to God for the extra time he’s given me with my family. The fight continues, but it’s going well right now, so I’m hoping to be able to get out there and pass this legacy to my kiddos for years to come. I’m sure you get lots of comments, but if you have desire for future az hunts and want to connect I’d be honored. I’m working on building a group of like minded Christian guys who can get out there and support each other on these hunts. Either way, keep it up! All glory to God!
@@themonohornfamily thank you for the kind words and sharing about your battle with cancer. I’m really sorry to hear that but happy to know you’re making the most of your time. I’d love to connect and think that’s a great idea. Do you have instagram or Facebook? My instagram is Nathan4you.
What did that buck end up scoring??? Awesome blacktail
Wyatt sent me the official score back in January but I can’t remember now. I think it went 148” or right around that.

Great video. Late season is my favorite time of year here in oregon. I hunt california as well. Are you putting in for any draws down there. I only need 3 more points to hopefully get the unit I've been going for.

When would you say rut begins for black tail in Washington state.
@@cruzmann5484 I don’t know Washington like I do Oregon. South coast deer rut in late October and all coastal deer rut a few weeks before cascade deer. The valley peaks right around the end of October. I guess the best answer is, it just depends on the location.
@@NathanEndicott_Films appreciate it.
First time bow hunting in September for blacktail in Washington !!!! I usually do rifle and become successful every year with a rifle but I have a question is ! What are blacktail doing during September do I need to call or anything ?
@@itsjaysYT September there is not a ton of daylight movement but the bucks can be found where the best feed is. Often they get lazy and bed down in a big unit and stay there for the day. High country is much different, they are high and below alpine, tucked into a good bed, and feed locally until mid October when they start to move a little more.
Man im excited. Cant wait.
