Hot take, Total Drama All Stars finale is way better than Disventure camp All Stars finale.

The reason she does what she does boils down to how she wants to be perceived by her fans. It's kind of the opposite to Ally's arc where Ally's trying too hard to change, to please her haters, while Riya is trying too hard not to change to please her fans. After Season 2, Riya was dubbed the "Villainess" of TV (this is stated in Episode 1) and considering how many awards she has, Riya is probably too scared of losing this fame that she keeps up her facade, even if it hurts the people she loves. Fear is a VERY powerful emotion, easily clouding your judgement, and causes people to do unbelievable things if not kept in check. The reason there's such a jarring 180 with her in Season 2, is because she's not like other villains, she's not like Fiore, she's not like Alec, not like Heather, Alejandro, Yul, Scarlet, or anyone like that. All those villains are mean people putting on the facade of kindness to go under the radar. She's legitimately a good person who was corrupted by the game, and turned evil after realizing you can easily get further by playing dirty than fairly. That's why she's one of my favourite villains. She isn't a cartoonish villain like Fiore, or Yul (Fiore and Yul are amazing villains, I'm just using it as a comparison). She's a real type of person. She's the type of people you find in the film industry. Public image is a big part of fame, and most will do anything to keep up appearances, so you'll find a lot of Riyas in the film industry.

This season went out of its way to make Riya win. In episode 10 she had the villains alliance, episode 11 Connor dragged her to winning immunity for episode 12, episode 13 Grett officially broke up with Yul for goodso everyone voted for him, episode 14 was on auto elimination round, episode 15 Ally was being petty towards jake/aiden, episode 16 the totem was used on Jake and Alec was voted out for some reason and then she won immunity until the finale.

Riya lost all of her neuance in DCAS In seaso 2 we have reasons why she became a villain: she thought that Rosa prefer Lake more than her, the pressure of winning the season to promote her struggling career, Karol infecting her mind, seeing Aiden sabotaging Oliver and causing Karol's injury. but aside from the cliff scene, her villianly was tamer and closer to the Courtney behavior in TDA. However we knew she is not sure about what she is doing by the scene of her spraying the perfume and having flashbacks of Connor, Rosa and Lake, showing that she is concern. when she was trapped in the water cave, it was a physical version of her fear of loneliness. this made her realize she screwed up. the season end with her apologizing Connor and he forive her. in her last scene we can see her smiling, having a spot hope however, the lesson she learn in seaso 2 was undone in All Stars when she slowly becoming more evil than she was before for no real reason. at first she was more like Heather, a villain but she had tamer behavior, was strategistic and knew how to work in a team. once the merge begin, her behaviour became like Julia, even worst. and only close to the season end the writers were like "shit we have five episodes left. we have to make her complex" so they added those scene with sad face here and there and came with "it was all an act" retcon. with all of this, Riya turned from a nuanced character to a plain villain (without the redeeming qualities Heather, Courtney or Julia have) and than to a forced complex character despite OCN claim they want to make a separation from TD, to me it seems they want to ride on Julia's popoulairyt. between the canon remake of season 1 to DCAS, the two seasons of the reboot aired and Julia became one of the more popular characters. I really belive that Julia's popularity has it's effect on writing Riya in DCAS. and this season already tend to show it's women in more negative lights than they actually are (unless they are a therapy characters).

Fun fact: Riya does have a backstory which was kinda delved into in season 2 but not really this season, she grew up in a poor part of India and became an actess to help support her family, but she had a hard time and has to star in "adult" movies to get any pay, that's why she decided to move to the US for better chances and why she wants to win in the 1st place and it's the reason why she acts the way she does

My main issue with Riya in DCAS is just the fact that her consequences or lack there of don’t equal what she has done. What makes it even worse is that ONC has shown that they can give villains a proper comeuppance. Yul tried to poison Aiden, got poisoned by James instead. Fiore did all the shit she did season 1 just to lose anyways and then in season 3 got used and voted out as she did to others. Even in Total Drama Island (using them as an example). Heather lost the original season and got her hair cut off. Now as for Riya… she attempted murder a few characters multiple times over and her punishment is “well you get to keep your career and win 3 million dollars but your alone”, why the fuck would she care about 18 people not liking her if she still has her career and 3 MILLION DOLLARS!? Even outside of her, Emily does 2 fucked up things in 2 episodes (pushing Trevor off the cliff and then releasing the scorpions) and then her punishment is being put in a full body cast? It just… doesn’t add up? I’m not saying like kill Riya off because of what she’s done but give her proper punishment to what she’s done, have her cancelled on social media, have her lose her acting career, even have EESHA just end up hating her because of her behavior on tv. But just. “Oh no, she’s all alone now” as punishment is kind of like… okay, and? I’m just disappointed with how they wrote Riya and I don’t like her at all and am disappointed with her winning especially when ONC has shown they can write better (imo) villains. Fiore,Alec,Yul,Ellie, and Grett especially. But of all of them, you let Riya win? Just… no…

Hate me if you like, but Ally or Jake should have won!! This woman just commited crimes and get no consequences for it!!

Riya should not have been in the finale. It should have been Grett! It would have been much more satisfying to see her against Jake in the Finale and instead of Fighting they should of had to do an obstacle course that ends with climbing a wall and having to do pull ups to get themselves up. It would have played well into how Grett felt insecure about exercise and Jake's fear of heights. Also she tried to kill people multiple people multiple times and NEVER got any consequences for it? Like WTF!!! Now we know that who ever attempts to kill another person in ONC's series is automatically going to be the winner!

I'm totally agree. I wish we have a spin-off one day, or an explanation for the reason she act like that. Why she's so obstinate. If she as a members on her family who's sick, or anything. In the episode 20, she clamed she NEED the money, with rage in her eyes. She stabbed Jack's troat with a metal weapon ! Tried to make people fall of a cliff, send rocks in the face of Ally, Tom, etc. She just did this for money or attention ? I don't think. But finally, we don't have any ansewers. :c I like her character, and really like the final even if it's predictable and not perfect, but yeah, the character is not deep as the Team wants to be. :c And OMG. I'm really disapponted by the fandom. Why all fandoms as to be so toxic nowdays ? It's so terrible. The team and fans doesn't deserve all this hate. (Sorry for my english).
