You did the right thing cutting up from the bottom then cutting down and rolling the log to finish! I've cut a lot of trees and you always gotta be conscious of which way its going to go! Good luck with everything my friend!

To prevent the problem at 9:07 what you do when the pressure is downward (the log is suspenended on 1 end) you start the cut from the bottom and go about a 3rd of the way then finish the cut from the top. It prevents pinching, splintering like what happened to you, and really important to do if your limbing up an alive tree in order to get a clean cut reducing damage to the tree and encourage a fast clean heal over the collar of the tree limb.

4:22 your bars probably okay, most common a curve cut is an indicator of uneven teeth on your chain. Just like with knife sharpening maintaining your angles is the most important thing to focus on.

The nylon wedges are handy for sure. Heres a trick that works even without wedges this is a video link where it is demonstrated. The videos good overall but the technique is taught at 5:50 - 8:20. He calls it an under buck I call back bucking. Wait for the water to stabilize because beaver traps will be exposed and illegal. Unless you can get a 330 out in main channel so water level won’t expose it.

Just make a break big enough to get it flowing some . Don’t bust it all the way out . set your foot trap off to one side or the other of the break under water . You’ll have a beaver when they come back to fix .

Yea I trap year round in summer months I do nesence work but September to April I trap for my self I sell to live market so I stay purty busy been doing this for 50 years but that got set and poly fill is all I use under manhood luck on your trapping

I’m gonna set out 2 cameras on 1000 acres that trap every year this week I start trapping it bout second week September been getting 20-25 totes a year off it got tons of deer on it and coyotes

I'm jealous of your ability to be able to charge that much. In my city in New Zealand there are a couple of old cashed up guys that don't say no to any job and charge peanuts. That stump would have been done for $100-$120nzd ($60usd) so that's what i have to compete against... i know one guy who charges $140nzd an hour with a 38hp machine. If he is on a job for 5+ hours he'll even knock some more off his price. His machines are held together with duct tape and prayers. Been around for 20+ years though so I don't know what the hell to think haha

Feeders ensure proper vitamins, macro and micro nutrients for the deer. If predators are finding the feed lines and stalking the birds. Maybe changing the feedlines every month would help. You think about grasses they all seed at different times. If a natural grass were to seed out that would concentrate wild life to the spot and once its done they would naturally look for the next. On properties for hunting. The feed lines and feeders are also for the benifit of the hunters. Concentrating the animals to areas intened to be hunted.

Have them pay the damages. You sure don't wont to rent to them again anyways.

Id bill for the damage. The hit it twice.... Once in the middle and once on the back of the fender. Operator was careless.

Is it just "cosmetic" the material in this case;metal was stressed or weakened taking some of its life away. With a care less person damaging both sides and in multiple spots, as a business owner one may consider down time, vetting the customer's & project getting a solid contract drawn up like every other rental company has in place. The equipment cannot make money if it's in your yard or shop being worked on. You could put it in your contract to require while loading they hang the provided.... bumpers. bolt a chain to some old tires with a hook, place them in-front of axles to protect the sides. Maybe inspect the spare tire mount, that may have been used as a bumper too. Options and an opinion, hopefully everything works out for you.
