Painfully slow on stock gearing and using a 13.5T brushless motor. Slow and steady wins the race?😂

First run of the Yokomo YZ 870c was a success. Drivetrain was silky smooth and nothing fell apart. I’m also glad that the motor did not overheat after 20 minutes of running. There’s hardly any ventilation as the body and under-tray is well sealed. Did not run it in the sand as the gears are exposed. An optional cover will need to be installed for that. Drove well as expected and it feels somewh...

Beautiful build! May I know which motor and esc are you using?
@@DragonBolt-l8g Thanks! I’m using the Kyosho Le Mans 13.5T blm with Tamiya TBLE 04S.👌😊
@ Thanks for sharing! 😊
Awesome run!
@@RCRoads Thanks for watching!😊
Nice action. I really like how the tires look. Great job filming and keeping the car in frame and up close for us to enjoy. 🫶
@@RCRoads Thanks my friend! Glad you enjoyed it.😊
@@Toystheyrenot Where did you get the tires from? I really like how they look.
I remember these buggies from back in the day mate.....timeless design, they certainly still perform. I know the clean up aint fun,but its great to see buggies getting run on dirt tracks where they were designed to be run. Im just not feeling this modern trend of running rc buggies inside on carpet. Get outside, get them dirty, and get that rear end sliding......thats what its all about!!😊👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Totally agree James! These old buggies are best enjoyed on a dirt track. Although.. I wish it wasn’t so muddy that day.. too bad it’s the rainy season now. As you can imagine.. the clean up took up some time.😅 Still, it was well worth the effort. This buggy is awesome. Feels similar to the optima mid to some extent..
Looks more accurate than the new Tamiya body.
@@ronr6450 Thanks my friend! I think the Tamiya should be more accurate.. although some proportions look a little off probably due to lens distortion.
Christmas wish list. Are you able to share this location? I was going to dust off my old SWB cat at an appropriate track to catch up with old racing buddies.
@@pureretro88 It’s located at Lorong Halus here in Singapore. Merry Christmas and thanks for watching my friend.😊
@ thank you and have a wonderful Christmas!
That old buggy looked like it enjoyed some time in the dirt, nice and steady!
@@madsrcbuggy Thanks Mads! It drives really well around here. I just wish that the track wasn’t so wet.. it’s the rainy season here..
Very nice run with the Super Dog Fighter Sean! It looks reallly sharp 🙂👍
Thanks Peter! It drove really well. I just wish that the track condition was better..It’s no fun cleaning a muddy buggy..😅
as a tamiya owner, I still remember the first time I saw an RC10 run, and was in awe of how supple the suspension was and how smooth the tramnny was. I ran right out and got a second job!
We all love our Tamiya’s even though they don’t quite stand a chance against more track focused machines of the day. I felt the same the first time I saw a Kyosho Turbo Optima in action. I was running a Boomerang then. 😂
Just watched this again, great vid! I'm waiting anxiously to get mine! As wasteful and dumb as it probably is, mine will likely only see street use. For that reason I'm not gonna go crazy with the latest, competitive gear. Are you happy with the gear you used, would you recommend more or less? I thought I was being conservative with a budget $85 HW Quicrun 3250kv combo and whoa, it turned out to be entirely too much for the Kyosho Beetle i just built! It does about 25mph at half throttle and will literally wheelie and flip backwards if you punch it. I basically ruined the unpainted body today, its a mess. Need to figure how to tone it down, its rowdy!
@@SpaceCoastStreetRippers I’m running it bone stock on a 21.5T brushless motor. It’s pretty quick already. For the racetrack, I’m using 13.5T (3500kv) on my Fantom but have yet to try it out on this 2wd. Sorry to hear about the ruined Beetle body, but it sounds like that buggy is a lot of fun! 😂 3250kv should be just about right for a 2WD buggy.👌
Pan cars were always my favorite, even for the street. Can't beat the simplicity of a proper 2wd design and the bodies in my opinion are the best. They're also fun to tune with changes easily noticed. I prefer 1/10 scale size but the 12's were always the fastest and the most skilled, most knowledgeable drivers were always the 1/12th guys. These things used to be magic and in the 90's here in Florida, there were several tracks within a two hour radius. Lame ass video games were for rainy days.
@@SpaceCoastStreetRippers Im a big fan of pan cars too. They are simple and requires very little setup to drive well. Always a great time running these on a proper race track. 1/12 modified class is crazy fast.. drivers of that class must have super human reflexes. 😂
Just pre ordered mine tonight. Have no idea where to even run it. Back in the day, before all the chinese RTR's, pan cars were the fastest cars in the hood. Used to run a RC10L with friends on the street before bashing was ever a thing. New tires were like $6 a pair, what's a premount? We glued & trued our own on a homemade, very rudimentary truing rig. Just saw an "automatic" Hudy unit for over $700, lol. Are you serious? No wonder the ghouls play their video games. Anyway, I'm just getting back in after 35 years, almost finished with a Kyosho Beetle, went brushless. Saw the Kyosho vid on this and just had to have it. Super cool.
@@SpaceCoastStreetRippers Thanks for watching my friend. With seemingly endless rereleases from every brand we grew up with, it’s certainly a great time to get back into the hobby. Enjoy yours when it arrives!😁
What a beauty!
@@poorboysrc Thanks Fil!😊
Haha, i thought of adapting the champ body to the dt-03 chassis to get this classic look..but i was too lazy and bought the bbx 😂
@@halmakenreuther8843 Good choice. The BBX is the spiritual successor of these old greats.👌😊
Cool video and nice buggy 😮
@@barrygiddey9139 Thanks for watching!😊
Awesome creation there Sean! Love what you have done with that, and she looked right in her element on the sand. Great footage buddy.😊 👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Thanks James! I was inspired by others who’ve done the same thing. Its a great pairing and I’m pleased with how this turned out.😁
Awesome ride and landscape! 👍 👍 👍
@KPtain_RC Thanks my friend!😊
@@Toystheyrenot you're welcome and subscribed! 👍 👍 👍
It is a great looking car. I love the livery on it but the decals look like they are horrible to put on! Going over the big fenders I am sure was a challenge and a half to get them on and line everything up!
@@AddamsPlayground Thanks Addam! Yes, this is one of the trickiest decal applications I have ever attempted. Not for the faint hearted for sure. The soapy water technique helps but even so, its hard to get it to wrap around the curved arches without any noticeable creases. Using a hair dryer doesn’t help all that much..
Devine looking car Sean. I thought exactly the same as Addam regarding the decals, but it looks as though you pulled them off perfectly! Great job mate! 😊👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Thanks James! It took alot of patience to get this one done.. but worth it in the end. Ill need a runner shell tho.. too much work has gone into this.😂
Great looking tribute car! Well and the location! Now I want to make a Super Champ!
@@Paul__FC That’s a great pairing too! Have fun with it my friend. Hope to see the build video soon!
can the diff handle getting dirt in there?
@@turretbarrage2707 probably not. Best to run this on a smooth and clean race track.👌
It takes 5 seconds to feel if the diff needs service and only a few minutes to actually do it. The diff is the heart of a pan car.. Anyone even half serious will accumulate spare diff parts in no time flat. So simple and fun. I figure its only because of cost and the economy that they're not more popular. Pan cars were always niche, but waaaay more popular when this country had a larger, MUCH smarter middle class. There used to be more of everything.
Ouyeah, I had been looking forward to this video! It's such a beautiful RC car, very simple but so elegant!
Thanks Mads! Like the Fantom, it really is a minimalist masterpiece.😊
Awesome 👍🏼
Thanks my friend!😊
Amazing to see in the middle of a concrete jungle. Well done!
@@pureretro88 Thanks for watching my friend.🙏😊
It looks amazing slinging the sand around on the beach! What a great paring of a really great buggy and a really great body. Super cool idea and it turned out great. Makes me want to sign back into Buyee and start looking around! LOL!!
@@AddamsPlayground Thanks Addam! It really is a great pairing of chassis and body shell. Ive seen others do it and finally tried it myself. So pleased with how it turned out. Now this chassis takes turns being the Holiday Buggy and this.😁
Wow Sean, that is such a fine looking creation of an RC buggy! Modern handling to go with such classic looks. It's a winner in my eyes, I might look into making something similar! Great run video pal! 🙌😍👍
@@MarkBryanRC Thanks Mark! Ive seen others make this body swap and thought of trying it myself. So glad I did. It’s great to see a Rough Rider handling like a Buggy Champ!😂 You should definitely make one too!

@@RCBirds Thanks for watching as always Dirk!🙏😊
Using a covering iron - for RC airplanes - will help those big decals follow the compound curves of the wheel arches.
@@FourDollaRacing Thanks for the tip!😊
Nice video iv got one has this got the standard plastic gears cogs
@@lukenochance993 Thanks! Yes, it’s bone stock.👌😊
Oh, man, it looks great! The creamy smooth slow motion close-ups and that beautiful race livery, all good! The handling looks nice, at least on video... Didn't seem squirrelly and tail happy, and even the steering seemed tight, no understeer... Did it feel as great as it looked?
Thanks Mads! It is surprisingly easy to drive around here. I wonder if it will behave just as well on the track. Feels almost as planted as the 4WD Fantom.👌😊
Stunning footage of a great car Sean! Im guessing this is one of those models where a thorough pre inspection of the running surface is required? I would dread to think what would happen if you hit a rut or raised section of tarmac!!😮 👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Thanks for watching James! Yes, these cars have to be run on very flat surfaces and preferably on a proper rc race track. They are surprisingly tough though..👌😊
What can i say.. its a work of art Sean!😀👌
Thanks Peter! Sorry for the late reply!
Looks fantastic Sean! Need to try my hands on building one of these some day 👍😀
@@Blastfromthepastrc1346 Thanks Peter! These 1/12 pancars are amazing. Highly recommend it if you have a place to run them.👍😊

The best looking holiday buggy i have seen by a longshot mate! 👌 Such a simplistic chassis, but it works so well. I bet the CVA shocks have improved it to? Im actually suprised just how tough these buggies are,I've thrashed the living daylights out of mine, and it just refuses to break!😂 Fitted lights to it this week and have been doing some night runs....great fun! Hope that paint manages to stay on buddy.😊👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Thanks James! Yes, this ‘new’ Holiday Buggy sure is capable and rugged on that DT02 chassis. One of the best Tamiya for the money for sure.
