    Great video Kalin and well worth watching if you want to see 'Switchgammon' from a player's perspective.

      OBS Studio, best and easiest for streaming. My laptop is not great so I had to sacrifice a bit of quality for the better audio - review my previous live streams for reference

      @@Kalinators btw i dont think so cube is fit well here.1st - because of we dont have here gammons we cubing later. and after first shot we probably to much rarely opened a doubling window for us. AND if this was a possible to double after 2nd or 3rd shot so, after NoDouble/Take this is extremely fast jumping into area of D/P.. because 1 game is too short (in terms of distance and shots too much determined on +1 than misses). so, idea here it is ALL games is like 1 game. i mean, lets say two players played 4 (or 5) games. and you use double INSIDE of this 4(5). i mean doubling window opened here in 3rd game in some special moment. maybe 3 games is better because this is create more Passes. AND after this, lets 3 three games which is ended 2-0/0-2 (or rarely 4-0/0-4) you guys played ANOTHER 3 games (or 4, i really dont know about nuances of balance in tis game) and MATCH ended as in bg with score 5 on any side. crawfoed included. also free drops))) probably 3 games is too short. and after redouble is always a PASS. and YESm you can double on ANY shot! seems as 5-6-7 games create more non-pass games on redoubles. pretty often is still a take probably. but short games is like blitzes it is about agro doubles. but always a drops after redouble. maybe 4 games is fine. you know better)))

      If it is your first shot on the table, no. If it is not your first shot, you've already decided on whether you double.

    to add a little variation but still keep the no luck factor you could have two different rolls (or maybe even 3) and then you would rotate them say every 10 turns..... every roll still known in advance but a little bit harder perhaps.... maybe flip the dice over so 3-2 becomes 5-4 or maybe just have two different rolls that a player can choose from each turn

    • @Kalinators
      @Kalinators 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rotating every 10 turns could be hard to track. But maybe, it could be that there are, say, 3 rolls, which alternate every move? That way, after 3 turns each, both players will have played each roll once, so remains fair from that side. I completely like the idea of 2 rolls with players choosing one of them. It could be that both players roll once each and these are the two rolls, with the player rolling the higher getting to play first, already starting with choosing the roll. This could also be a way to include doubles: One of the rolls can be doubles without causing a standstill. I'll try out this variation in a next video on chessgammon!

  • @OliverHeuler
    @OliverHeuler 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have an addition, since it is still a matter of luck who begins: The first player could play the first move, and the second player can then decide if he wants to play black or white. If you play it perfect, the opponent will take your side; if you play awful, he will let you play this move. That’s why you will try to find a move that keeps the equity equal.

    • @Kalinators
      @Kalinators 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good idea! Actually, in some rolls the winner with perfect play is the 2nd to move. I believe 32 is one of them. So that probably makes it even better. The 2nd, if they aren't familiar with that, could voluntarily hand over the advantage. More opportunities for errors=more entertainment

    • @jgeorgiou3307
      @jgeorgiou3307 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @Kalinators
