We all know cyclists can be a pain in the ass but they are people, just like you and i. Give them space and expect them to be unpredictable. You know. like a student driver. Like you. The minimum distance is one metre on roads with speed limits of 50 km/h or less and 1.5 metres on highways with speeds of 51 km/h or more. If the road user is in a protected, separated bike lane or sidewalk, drive...

    Watched your video and passed class 4 on first try! Thank you for making this video. A car tailed us during my road test and was caught by the examiner. The examiner didn't say it explicitly but I know the tailing driver likely got an automatically fail because of it. Don't try it boys. I did a really bad parallel parking, with about 1/2 meter away from curb after backing in. Fortunately there was no car behind so I can back up further to align my car closer to the curb. The examiner didn't seem to care. When I do back up I try not to rely on back camera screen but I keep forgetting it so I end up still looking at it like 60% of the time. I keep checking right mirror and looking through back window. It was very awkward as I am not used to back up this way for a long long time. You have to fight your urge to keep staring at backup camera! I did plenty of 360 checks before driving and shoulder checks while driving. When someone was close to my car, I waited until they walked away before moving. I only move the car when no one was around and only after a 360 check. Good luck I hope you guys all pass on first try.

    Why are the cars on the left side of the road in the 2-way stop sign example?

  • @karikling6751
    @karikling6751 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I agree with some points, but not with everything. Yes, bicyclists should never ride on the sidewalk. It's a side*walk*, not a side*bike* or a side*park your car*(yes, I see that all the f***ing time in my city). I appreciate that you checked the bike crossings before turning. I see too many drivers who don't do that, and I've nearly been hooked many times by drivers who were not paying attention, even when I followed the laws. I agree that we need to use hand signals, especially when turning left since that is where drivers usually pass bicyclists. Here's where I somewhat disagree. When engineers and traffic planners design infrastructure, they often prioritize cars, and bicyclists are an afterthought if any thought at all. It's changing some, but the infrastructure often isn't built with their safety in mind. Because of that, there are sometimes situations where it's safer to stop at the red light, make sure cross traffic is clear, and then go before your light turns green. To give you an example, my city has several intersections where someone who wasn't thinking designed a bike lane that switches sides of the road at the intersection. So, in that case, your options as a bicyclist are to either go on green and stop biking in the bike lane until traffic going with you is clear(God help you if it's rush hour) or, when you come to that intersection or the intersection before, you go through the red light when cross traffic is clear so that you have a clear path to get across to the other side where the bike lane has switched. Another thing is that, because of how bicycles work on momentum and take more effort to get going if they're not electric, some states have an Idaho stop rule, which means bicyclists are legally allowed to treat stop signs as yield signs and stop lights as stop signs. When it comes to "taking the lane" as you showed in a clip of someone riding down the middle, some situations necessitate that, like riding down narrow one-way roads, because we know if we go to the side drivers will attempt to pass us dangerously close. Where I live, Pennsylvania, drivers are required to give bicyclists 4 feet of passing distance. It varies by state. Here's where I strongly disagree. I don't know if it was your intention to imply that bicyclists are the cause of the bicyclists vs cars friction and drama we have going on in some countries, but that's how it came across to me. Yes, there are bicyclists who are inconsiderate assholes. They'll bike the wrong way in traffic, ride on sidewalks, and pop wheelies in traffic, but they don't often instigate animosity. I have experienced drivers who intentionally swerved into my path, threatened to run me over, threw drinks at me for stopping for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, filmed themselves throwing a drink at me while not having a license plate on their car, told me I could get shot, waited til I was crossing the intersection before running their red light straight at me, told me to bike into oncoming traffic, etc. My friend and his friend were biking, signaled a left turn in advance of the turn, and the driver behind them still tried to pass on their left as they were turning. The driver hit my friend's friend, got out of the car, and threatened to run them over again. Today, I was biking with a friend in the lane. We were going straight and had no stop sign or stop light, so the driver pulling out of the shopping center lot needed to yield to us. She didn't. She nearly hit my friend's back wheel, and she cut me off. She then rolled down her window and yelled, "move, bitch!". People become aggressive when they get behind the wheel of a car, and many of them lose patience and their sense of humanity.
