I miss my MK3 Jetta. While power wasn't stellar, the 2.0 engine had so much low to mid-range torque that gave it incredible driveablility. I even towed a bunch of trailers with it, no shortage of torque or engine braking.

Which motor arm did you extend? The short one that is directly fixed on the motor? Or the long one that is fixed on the base of the wiper?

to anybody having trouble nailing down regular kickflips: the accidental sex change kick flip happens when your front foot is running way too parallel to your rails. your front foot is pointing forward more than it should, therefore when you jump it rotates and brings your hole body to a rotation as well. Try pointing both feet perpendicular to your board's rails. It will feel incredibly awkward at first. your front foot will want to move and point forward. dont let it do that. remain in the awkward position. try the kickflip. voila!
