    Hi Kevin! Ii have a bunch of Kato 24-818feeder joiners .I d like to keep the white plugs on them and not cut them off- is there a Kato junction box I can plug say 6-10 of these feeders into and run one wire to my Kato transformer and plug it in and run all-of the feeders off of one? Is there such a thing ? Please advise , Thank you, George USA

      @kevinbrown104 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately, to my knowledge, Kato doesn't have anything bigger than the blue triple feed extension. I just make a " daisy chain" of those for my bus line. While not perfect, I find it works very well. I hope that answers your question - Kevin.

    Does it FORCE you to use Blue White, White Blue? Otherwise, why wouldn't you just run it "properly?" That way you can cross over to different lines to pass or whatnot.

    • @kevinbrown104
      @kevinbrown104 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Adherence to the T-trak wiring standards is only necessary if you plan on taking your modules to shows and/or meets and connect with other modules. If you plan on keeping your modules solely for a home layout, then you obviously can do whatever you want. In my experience, the "blue/white, white/blue" wiring is easily overcome by reversing the polarity of the track power feed for one of the main lines at the power source. This gives you the best of both worlds - compatibility with other people's modules and easy crossovers between the mainlines. Hope that answers your question - Kevin.

    • @kevinbrown104
      @kevinbrown104 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the two main modules for Thomasboro are both two-footers. If I remember correctly, The Kato double crossover just fits on a single module. I am a big fan of "double modules." They are long enough to have more interesting track work, and they are easy to store and transport. Hope that answers your question and thank you for your comment - Kevin.

    • @kevinbrown104

      Unfortunately, I have never used the HO unitrack nor tried to put in a roundhouse/turntable. I have found the Kato short track packs quite useful for odd lengths, but I don't know if that would be enough for such exacting needs. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

    Hi Kevin! It’s always a good day to see a video from you on TH-cam! Especially after having had to watch the Bears lose their fourth game in a row, to a team that’s just as bad as they are. Oh dear, what a mess. Here’s some thoughts I had while watching your video:

 1. KATO CROSSOVER - For some odd reason, in my own T-Trak layout design, I refused to use those type of switches, instead opting for the the 20-230 single track crossover to switch trains from one main to the other. After watching your video, I’m glad I went that route! I actually hate the concrete ties used on that crossover, as my layout is set in the mid 70’s before concrete ties became a thing, but I like it’s simplicity. 2. Love that KATO CNW “400” passenger train, as well as the CB&Q “Silver Streak” Zephyr, which is the train that got me into KATO and T-Trak. As a Burlington Northern model railroader, I learned something very interesting this past week: Amtrak, in the early 70’s, used CNW’s “400” bi-level cars for a train that traveled on the Burlington tracks called the “Illinois Zephyr.” When the train first started out, they left the coaches and engines in CNW paint! E and F units were the norm for power, and sometimes both an E-9 and F-7 were used together. Eventually Amtrak bought the coaches from the CNW, and they were repainted in Amtrak’s colors. Now I have an excuse to buy my own “400” set!

 3. I really enjoy seeing the underside of your modules, and the wiring techniques that you used. 4. Sad to see so few people at the Matoon show, but then that’s always been the problem with Mattoon: it’s just to far away from anything! I’ve been there a few times in my life, and it seems like it takes an eternity to get there. It's far more remote than one realizes, and there's no interstates nearby to make it an easy drive. 5. The time issue has been my biggest problem when it comes to model railroading, as I have a TON of hobbies and interests, and most of them are less costly and less expensive than model railroading! Yet I’ve been a life long model railroader, and will stay with it in one form or another until my time to leave this planet comes. I had to give up my military modeling, as I could not do that and model trains at the same time. For gaming, I just like to play plain old board games, but this is the golden age of boardgames, and there is a ton of great games out worth playing. They are relatively “cheap” to get into, and provide a lot of fun for all involved.

 6. Family has also been a BIG issue in my own life, and that does take up a lot of time as well, but it’s important to make that a priority.

I will certainly miss your monthly updates! Take care of your priorities first, as always, and we will be anxiously awaiting your return.

    • @kevinbrown104
      @kevinbrown104 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your comments. In general, I have had very little trouble with the Kato double crossovers. This one just got a bit cranky. I too have one of the single crossovers, which has worked well also. I found that painting the concrete ties flat black with a small brush really improved the look. I agree that model railroading is by far the most expensive and time demanding hobby I love. Heck, it makes even Games Workshop stuff look cheap! I am proud of what I have accomplished on my layout. I look forward to having the time to dig into it again.

    • @ronzack4572
      @ronzack4572 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinbrown104 - You had to mention Games Workshop, didn't you? LoL! Love their stuff, but I don't have the money for those guys! But what I really like is the "Flames of War" stuff. Not any cheaper, but I've always been a WWII nerd. Your videos have been VERY inspirational to me, especially in regards to using T-TRAK as a home layout. Can't thank you enough for posting these updates to TH-cam.

I HAD to get back there just because. Keep up the good work.
