One reason for struggling to lose weight on a low-carb or ketogenic diet, is "Hidden Sugars" in your diet, ie eating sugars you might not be aware of, thereby driving your insulin up and preventing fat burning. Why are the messages about sugar - and carbohydrates generally - so contradictory and confusing? Let's take a step back and understand the simple chemistry of "sugars" before we unpack this conundrum. Great Andrew , I took your advice and started vit c high strength for my anaemia, as you suggested a couple of weeks ago , I must say the tiredness is really improving. Just had a blood test taken so I will,see what my results come back saying . Mind you the person collecting the. Loads at the gps seemed a bit confused about the tests I was having even though they had requested I had them taken . So I did say this would be an important one and why , and re checked while she was taking them , but I don’t feel she took all that required so we see. A lot of results came back on the same day , which was yesterday , but the fact which I expected to be there wasn’t available . So unless gps are holding it back for some reason , I await to see . You your comments made today , I can confirm are right . And with new guidelines in iron medications , it’s another source of getting your iron levels to return to where they should be . So once again thanks for advice and brill info .

    Linus Paulings work says that Vitamin C absorption is optimised by making sure you have enough of the amino acids L- Lysine and or Proline and as per his prodigy Patrick Holford, a maintenance dose is 2 grams or 2000mg a day. I make an increase of a lot if a virus presents itself. I don't experience stomach upsets with the bioflavonoids versions containing Rosehips etc but get to loose bowels when the body has an adequate amount. Everything you say is added important information about the immature blood cells etc Andrew and i am grateful for every simply explained and information packed video. I am out of the arthritic inflammation zone thanks to you and this was a great reminder as im now dealing with the chronic tendonitis and realised I've been so focussed on changing diet that i forget to take the vitamin C which is, as you said, vital to produce collagen! Im sure that plays a huge role with the tendon issues too. Thank once again to you Andrew.

      I know! Obesity, T2Diabetes, Alzheimers, Coronary Heart Disease and various Inflammatory conditions are all seen - and treated - as different "diseases"; but really they are just SYMPTOMS of the same disease: "Hyperinsulinemia", caused from prolonged consumption of excessive sugars in a carbohydrate-heavy diet, which raises insulin to intolerable levels and poisons the liver, pancreas and kidneys.

    Tell me I am wrong with this one, but I read that sugar and Vitamin C has the same molecular attachment mechanism. So if you eat sugar, the sugar attaches to the cell and if you take vitamin C, and there is sugar already there, Vitamin C can not attach.

    Hi Andrew. A few aspects to consider. 1. Ascorbic acid is a synthetic, laboratory-made isolate in vitamin C, made in China. 2. ALL ascorbic acid comes from CHINA. 3. Ascorbic acid depletes the natural stores of natural vitamin C in our body, creating vitamin C deficiency, since the body cannot make vitamin C. 4. Natural food forms of vitamin C provide the entire complex of vitamin C which the body requires for health and healing. 5. Sources of natural food forms: rose hips, acerola berry, gooseberry, chokecherry, being some the highest in vitamin C and low in sugars. 6. One orange contains 14 grams of sugar, thereby a source to avoid for obvious reasons.

    • @liviacotto7647
      @liviacotto7647 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with you apart the last point. So you mean you avoid orages because they have sugar in it? Really? Look that an orange contains quite a good quantity of fiber, that makes the absorbing of sugar very slow. You can say the sugar in an orange could be a problem only it is an orange juice, but not a full orange. Don't you eat fruit?😮

    • @shapefixer
      @shapefixer 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Kathleen, thank you for your message. You make some good points but I'm not sure all of it is 100% accurate. Not all supplemental ascorbic acid is made in China - although I'm not sure I get the relevance as it's a simple enough molecule and is very easily tested. But I do agree completely that dietary sources are always going to be better, just on principle (though all VitC is "ascorbic acid", wherever it comes from - that's what "Vitamin C" is)! Supplements should ALWAYS only be used when there is a dietarey deficiency that cannot be fixed, eg proper food unavailable for some reason. You've lost me however on your reference to ascorbic acid "depleting natural stores of VitC"... what natural stores? Our body does not make it, so all of it is "exogenous" (ie comes from outside - so food or supplement). This intrigues me, if you could refer me to some readfing material on that I would definitely read up on it. Thank you for your ongoing engagement! - Andrew

      @@shapefixer Thank you for your response, Andrew. And yes, we are "taught" that vitamin C is ascorbic acid, but it is only one isolated component of natural food source vitamin C. Ascorbid acid has been synthesized in the laboratory for miniscule amounts on the dollar and then sold everywhere as if it was Vitamin C, with all its harms as well. Our body cannot manufacture vitamin C and must be consumed, otherwise disease deficiencies occur, ie scurvy, pelagra, with symptoms you covered in your video. Vitamin C robs the body of the whole food vitamin C, not unlike drinking sodas high in potassium. In order for the body to process such high amounts, it robs the calcium from the bones causing osteoporosis. The epidemic in teenage boys revealed the seriousness of this, resulting in bone cancers in these youth as well. China is not "known" for its purity of ingredients, therefore, that all (I will agree to say "most") ascorbic acid comes from labs in China is of grave concern. It is made from ascorbic acid and sulphuric acid in corn starch (GMO produced). Think melamin rice and baby food laced with melamin. There are about four companies in the USA who produce all the background materials for supplements from which all the sellers of vitamins and supplements purchase in order to compound their products for sale. IE, Joseph Mercola, :Synergy Company, Garden of Life, Metagenics, for examples. A couple books on this subject: SUPPLEMENTS EXPOSED by Dr. Brian R Clement PhD, THE CALCIUM LIE by Robert Thompson and a very good video on ascorbic acid v vitamin C by Dr. Eric Berg on youtube. Look for: THE FOUR THINGS ABOUT VITAMIN C THAT ARE QUITE SHOCKING. When I did the deep dive on the supplement/vitamin I was rather shocked to find the duplicity and greed and that big pharma runs these companies........

Isn't it that meat elevates uric acid, which contributes to arthritis? Now I am super confused, I was an advocate for keto, diabetes went away, hipertension went away, but my joints started to protest and I am lost. One thing though I admit I did wrong - not too many vegetables ? Still, not sure what path to take now.
