I am African American and calling a parent by their first name is considered ignorant. To see children call parents by their first name is generally rare, especially in African American culture. Also, I was taught to say yes ma'am yes sir... I am definitely thinking of moving to Africa though.
Thank you Annie, I agree with you! The use of words like “yes ma/sir”; dad/mom are indeed the absolute best when responding to or addressing one’s parents. Our parents regardless of how young or old they are, deserve to be respected.

So Ab was the one backed up by the God almighty himself, and still he was too afraid to tell the truth and let somebody else take his wife?
So this is the background story: Abraham and Sarah relocated to Gerar but in Gerar, men really liked beautiful women and had no fear of God. The Bible suggests that the men of Gerar could kill a person married to a beautiful woman just to take her as their wife. When Abimelech saw Sarah, he was in love with Sarah and wanted to marry her. In order to avoid being killed by Abimelech, Abraham had to say that Sarah was his sister. This story is in Genesis 20
In truth, Abraham and Sarah were siblings. They had the same father but different mothers.
Thanks for the background story. But my point is still the same. If you have direct contact with the most Powerfull, who is watching over you 24/7, why would let someone take your woman( even if it’s your sister, daughter, cousin or neighbour whatever) against their will?!
@@masiehmitra8273 I agree with you! Personally, I wouldn’t let anyone take my loved ones from me. But I believe that man should apply wisdom at all times even when GOD is solidly behind you. In this case, I believe that Abraham did not wish for Abimelech to take Sarah. He probably had it at the back of his mind that God would fight for him and rescue Sarah. And that was what happened because God appeared to Abimelech and told him to return Sarah to Abraham.
