Cracked Splitting Axe to Viking Maul - Restoration No Talking
This was a cracked splitting axe or maul I had in my workshop. The cutting edge was cracked and overall it was in very rough shape. I considered sanding the faces down but they were extremely pitted and would require removing a lot of material. I decided to go with a light refinishing and cold bluing along with a wood charred handle after seeing a few Nordic style axes on Esty. I considered using a leather wrap on the handle and head but couldn't get any in time to finish the video today. The maul is neither Nordic nor is it very old, I simply styled the restoration after reproduction Viking axes I had seen online. This splitting maul restoration took about two days start to finish. The splitting maul performed very well splitting wood. Leave a comment if you prefer the restoration no talking style videos or if you think you would be interested in a soft spoken narration. If you enjoyed the axe to Viking maul transformation consider subscribing for more videos and to stay tuned for a very unique restoration I have planned this month.
Thanks for watching and take care.

Building a Snowman using a 50 Year Old Hammer - Restoration No Talking
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I picked up this very old ball peen hammer from my elderly neighbor who did not have a need for it anymore. I previously planned to sand blast and cold blue the 50 year old hammer but decided on trying to polish it. The video loosely shows the process I use regarding how to polish metal to a mirror finish. The ball peen hammer came out very shiny and overall I'm happy with it. It also recently ...
Unique Hatchet Restoration using Epoxy Resin and Gold - Restoration No Talking
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A hatchet restoration using epoxy resin and gold leaf. The hatchet was purchased for $3 from a flea market. This was my first restoration with epoxy resin and I am very satisfied with the finish. The rusty axe was very sharp after the Restoration and I decided to split some wood for the fire with it. This hatchet restoration using gold leaf and epoxy resin was inspired by TysyTube Restoration w...
Mirror Polishing a Rusty Old Vise - Restoration No Talking
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A rusty old vise restoration consisting of a lot of metal work and mirror polishing. The rusty old vise sat for many years outside before I obtained it. The cast iron surfaces looked ruined but I after many hours of work I was about to sand them to a mirror finish. While extremely difficult, I believe the broken vise looked worth it after polishing the rusty metal. I am happy to have restored t...
40 Year Old Vintage Bench Grinder Saved from the Junkyard - Restoration No Talking
มุมมอง 23K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Restoration of a 40 year old old vintage bench grinder. The vintage grinder would have been scrapped and did not seem like it would be too difficult to save from the junkyard. I hate to see good tools go to waste or get destroyed. The grinder which was manufactured in 1983 had not been used in many years and needed a new power cord and bearings. I have a passion for rescuing tools I enjoy makin...

Thanks for watching and commenting. Regarding the cold bluing you should definitely try it out. It’s a pretty easy process and gives a nice finish that resist rust fairly well. I use it on most of my axes and hatchets that I use on a regular basis.
