The Women's Votes, Women's Voices, Women's Rights Exhibit is on display at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas from September 2022 to April 30, 2023. This vibrant, multimedia exhibition explores the risks women and their male allies took to win the vote, expand democracy, and elevate human rights over the past two centuries. The exhibit includes 18 art quilts that bring this history to life by Alice Beasley, Deb Cashatt and Kris Sazaki (the Pixeladies), Hollis Chatelain, Shin-hee Chin, Michael Cummings, Sylvia Hernandez, Patty Kennedy-Zafred, Lea McComas, Luana Rubin, Susan Shie, Sandra Sider, Gail Sims (and Renee Gannon, Gale Oppenheim-Pietrzak, and Ann Anastasio), Nancy Turbitt, Allison Wilbur and the Social Justice Sewing Academy (Sara Trail). The Exhibit was curated by Dr. Allida Black and Allison Wilbur was the Art Quilt Coordinator.

Stencil and Pounce longarm design SD 480p

Iron off Pounce and plastic stencils make it easy to transfer complex designs for longer quilting. See how the chalk powder says in place while the machine stitches. The lines fully disappear with the heat of an iron when you are finished quilting.

The tools are simple, the stitch is uncomplicated, and the rhythm of hand quilting is meditative and calming. It takes some practice, but with time you can create even stitches that add a beautiful look to any quilted project.

Continuous curve on pointed star on Longarm
มุมมอง 585 ปีที่แล้ว
Complement your piecing by stitching a continuous curve pattern on a pointed star. Work the bottom 2/3 of the block all the way across the quilt, then come back on the top third to complete the block. Continuous curve creates lovely secondary patterns that complement you're piecing.
Continuous Curve quilting on a Longarm

A quick fill for grid based quilts! Continuous curve makes lovely petal shapes and gives a nice even density of quilting. Trace the pattern out with your finger or on a dry erase board to practice.

Thank you dear. I have heard about the spoon method, however I have never seen it in action. Also my first time seeing that needle puller. I use silicone finger tips, but I can see how your device would be better at grasping to little needle showing. Thanks for sharing.😊
I love your bridge design. How can I buy a copy.
DM me through instagram at Allison WilburQuilts and I will send you a copy. Happy holidays!
@allisonwilburquilts3832 I will be looking for a copy of your bridge sashimi pattern. It is really beautiful. Diana
Your bridge sashimi will fit nicely on the hem line of my 👗 dress.

Needle puller and spoon. Been sewing all kinds for decades and you just changed my life! Thank you ❤️
Thank you! Finally some one explains how to start, finish the threads!!!
So glad this was helpful!
Yes perfect is the enemy of the good 👍 ❤😅
I’ve used rubber circles as needle pullers but that gadget looks pretty clever. I also never thought to use a spoon underneath and that also sounds like a good idea. I’m going to try it! Thank you!
Yes, the spoon really sees my fingernail on the bottom!
Great to see you! I learned from you- i have to try with medal thimble- i did years ago but i forgot- ill try again- Thank you!🥰❤️
thank you so much. I am new to this technique and I could not ask for a better tutorial. Happy quilting!
Very helpful with this clear demo. Many thanks!
You are so welcome!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU !!
Happy to share a little!
This is a good idea. i have been practicing but i worry that my stitches arent going through all the layers if I cant feel my needle underneath. which makes my stitches more like big stitch quilting 😅
The spoon really helps to turn the needle back up to the top and helps you to get a real stitch on the back since you can push all the way through the layers.
thank you
What a shame. Really bad camera work. Even to show your tools--most are off screen. And then it continues to miss what we want to see.
GREAT information Thaank You
Awesome video , thank you !
Cool needle gripper, where can we get one
I have been free motion quilting for a long time and have just now learned from you how this is supposed to be done. I always knew how to start, but pulling the thread up at the end always had me confused. Thank you!
Thank you, Allison!! This loving tribute to our exhibition is very special. It's so wonderful to get to see everyone again, in this video - like we're there again! Thank you so much! - Susi PS. I'm joyfully putting the link to this movie of yours, on my own FB pages. Big thanks, Susi. <3
My smaller machine had a thread lock but I’m starting a wall hanging on a new machine without a thread lock. Is returning to knot/bury threads a requirement for securing the stitching instead of just locking the stitch in place without the hand knot/bury method?
Your thread lock works fine as well. It will leave two short "rabbit ears" on the back, but since it is a wall hanging it should be fine. No on will see it! I use this type of thread burying to completely conceal where the stitching begins and ends on both sides of the quilt.
I'm just learning this technique. Thank you for the clear demonstration with explanation which makes it easy to understand.
Wow thank you. This is a must-know tip!!
Very helpful.
Thank you -- this helped me today! Good demo.
Wow, thanks for sharing your excellent version. I just started free motion quilting and I’ve completed two samplers blocks, but was definitely having issues. Again thanks 👍❤️😊
How or where can I get the needle puller that you use?
What brand needle puller
Where can I buy a needle puller
First mention I've ever heard of a needle puller, that sounds like a helpful tool. I like the spoon idea, too.
Such a beautiful quilt.
Would have been nice if you showed how to hold the spoon.
Indeed. There really was no spoon.
She did say at one point that she used the spoon on or with her thumb, which I took to mean her thumb rests in the bowl of the spoon and her fingers curl around to lightly grip the handle. I'll have to experiment, but after seeing several quilters using a smooth thimble underneath or another tool (Aunt Becky I think?), I had been considering using a spoon myself.

Do you know of the brand of your needle puller? I would love to find one that is all metal like you have, but can't find one anywhere! Great tutorial, and beautiful quilt!
Needle puller makes hand quilting so much easier.
Very nice mam 👌👍😊😀👏
Muito obrigada pela inspiração!

I've also been looking for a threader. I haven't found INE worth a darn yet. What is the brand of yours?
I believe the one she has is made by Clover.
Interesting. I've never heard of using a spoon. Or a needle puller. Good to know
Wow! A needle puller! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Super!!! 🌹🌹🌹
Beautiful
Wau !never seen it
Thank you very much for this video. I think this method of starts and stops would be permissible in competitive quilts. I know the judges look at the starts and stops methods used.
OMG. I've been wrestling with bringing up the bobbin threads when starting & stopping, & burying them when finished. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've watched so many other videos, & your video was the most helpful by far!
After many other similar videos, this is what I've been looking for. Perfect explanation. Thank you!!
Where did you get your thread puller?
Hi Jackie, I once saw it on Keepsake quilting but they don't have them anymore. I will look into getting them to sell on my web store, which my son is now setting upon for me. You might be able to find them elsewhere if you look for needle puller.
Amazon has them
Плохо видно!
