Ep 46 Game Theory Of Bitcoin Mining
In this episode of the Build-a-Mine podcast, host Trevor Bello engages in a thought-provoking conversation with Patrick Motorist, a seasoned Bitcoin enthusiast and advocate. Patrick's journey into the world of Bitcoin began during the 2013 Cyprus banking crisis, igniting his passion for sound money and self-sovereignty. With extensive experience in the Bitcoin space, including organizing events like Unconfiscatable and the Bitcoin Standard Conference, Patrick shares his insights on the evolution of Bitcoin mining and its implications for decentralization.
The discussion delves into the philosophical underpinnings of Bitcoin, the challenges faced by home miners versus industrial miners, and the potential future of Bitcoin mining as a means of generating heat and energy. Patrick emphasizes the importance of understanding incentives in the Bitcoin ecosystem and the long-term vision for a sound monetary system.
Listeners will gain valuable perspectives on the intersection of Bitcoin, mining, and the broader economic landscape, as well as practical advice for those looking to navigate the complexities of Bitcoin ownership and mining. Join us for an enlightening conversation that explores the future of money and the role of Bitcoin in shaping a more equitable world.

Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Thanks for having me on ❤
🎉❤
Thanks, that was a good overview and informative ep. look forward to trying some epic boards
I highly recomend the ePIC control boards, i currently have two. One i use on my S19kpro that heats my house, and the other is being used on an S19Jpro Loki rig that i use to heat my studio. You can purchase them at altairtech.io/ they are great guys over there.
There are so many use cases, that you can't even think of one?? Lmfaoo
Great content, as always! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Great analysis, thank you! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Have you ever hear of a technology that doesn't go obsolete? Quantum computers and the current blockchain is garbage.
The sound differential is crazier than mentioned: the volume doubles every 3 decibels (dB), so a miner running at 9dB lower is 1/8th the loudness!
That is what the human ear perceives yes.
Great to see CK on a podcast. Absolute legend of the mining world tbh. Great to hear his take on things. PS he posts the best space pictures on X.
That's what i hear. Guess I need to follow him for images of our solar system
It's hilarious how he described my useless setup. I have a Pi5 running Bitcoin Core and CKPool. Currently managing two BitAxe miners. I'm running a full node with spam filters on. 🙂
Only sort of useless 😂
Jon knows what he's talking about when it comes to flexible loads, bitcoin mining and the energy markets game.
Love this concept to heat my home. The wifi pdu switch 👏👏👏 amazing product. And I would totally use a miner to dry my hair! 😂❤
We may actually see products like hairdryers in the future. It's just a resistive heater.
Thanks guys! Really enjoyed the chat.
Loved having you on the show, Antoine!
Thank you Trevor and Will for having us on the Build a Mind Podcast! We were impressed by your passion for Bitcoin and making mining accessible. Thanks again for the great discussion!
@ePIC_Blockchain grateful for your participation. It is not only important, but it is vital for the community to learn and understand how your products can help them reduce their operating expenses by cutting out the dev fees altogether. Finally, miners actually own their hardware! Huge shoutout to you all at ePIC, for the work you are doing.
Great episode! Thanks guys!
@@antoinedesjardins6752 Nico killed it on this one, such a wealth of information. Thanks for watching!
Yes money is the biggest hurdle. Tried SBA and the banks. Both view us as the plague.
The key is to use the right terminology and to reach out to the right partners. Instead of going directly to a bank, it is helpful to go to an agency that specializes in helping bitcoin businesses. Thats where Bitcoin Mining World can come in, we have various contacts in the industry that can provide capital and help with funding.
Excellent breakdown! Interesting thoughts on the upcoming market changes! For further details, take a look at my bio. Looking forward to your next video!
I loved your pod cast. I found it by searching Rick Margerison name as Rick is my son. A busy guy and I'm so proud of him. His dad use to say to him when he'd get discouraged, where do you believe you'll be in 5 years. We'll I know where he is and I think the Lord has given his dad a glance of his sons' success today. Successful yet humble. One of Rick favorite songs. I love son ❤ I am in Canada 🇨🇦 Delores Margerison
@doloresmargerison2294 nice to meet you, Delores. Rick is a great guy. I've met him several times, and he's always very quiet and reserved. He is good at what he does, yet humble and kind. I am glad you enjoyed the podcast. I love hearing from the audience, so this starts my day off with a great vibe. Thank you for the kind words.
such good advice: "challenge the status quo." Karl's a f'n badass.
@antoinedesjardins6752 seriously, we need to step outside of the box and not be afraid to try things
Good stuff! Keep em coming. It was lovely knowing you guys at the brainerd conference. - Low time preference

Fun ways to integrate bitcoin mining into homesteading!
@@offordscottASIC Bitcoin mining is the revolution. Heating applications abound!
This was a great pod, DATUM needs to be better understood by as many miners as possible to help gain traction. Have Mechanic and Luke back on in H2, 2025 to see how things developed.
@mc-kz8zn DATUM is going to change things and you're right it needs to be much better understood. Not a bad idea. We will reach out to them.
Another great episode. Thank you!
@@antoinedesjardins6752 glad you enjoyed it!
Will they be at the Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas May 27 - 28 showcasing their product?
enjoyed this one, thx guys
Used solar panels for the win
Terrific insight on how to maximize energy use by reuse, AND diverse investments with bitcoin mining. All this and fueling a goal of global financial equality and fulfilling a piece of humanitarian needs, a warm secure home, and hot water. I just might add, heating a greenhouse for longer growing season. … less agribusiness dependancy. Dang this is so terrific!
@teribalaska9032 I'm so glad you found it inspiring and insightful. That the whole point of this show. We want to show the world how bitcoin mining can improve people's lives and give them a sense of sovereignty over themselves. Would love to see how you incorporate an immersion system into a greenhouse we could even do a video together 😉😉
It was fantastic chatting with you both on the podcast! I’m thrilled about the insights we shared and hope they really help the next generation of miners and Bitcoin enthusiasts. I also hope this podcast encourages more of us to get involved in mining at home, leverage the energy we already have, and contribute to building a more decentralized and energy-efficient Bitcoin ecosystem. Thanks again for the great discussion, and I look forward to seeing how this inspires others to take the "plunge" into immersion mining!
@HashrateHouse it was fun and insightful. I am motivated by this to keep pushing towards my immersion setup. Hopefully, I'll have something figured out by mid year 2025. Thanks for coming on the show, Dane.

Greetings from El Salvador. Good job on your first pod! I actually listened to it all and learned a lot. Just the right level of info for plebs like me. Maybe add a topic directory with timestamps after it’s done. Congrats. I know the work it takes to put that together.
Thank you for reaching out and letting us know how you felt about it. I'm glad to hear you learned some things. The podcast is definitely a work in progress but we are having fun doing it. I'll keep your suggestion in mind going forward. I really appreciate the feedback 🫡
