Westcliff is actually upside down in how the class material is presented. There should be no written assignments in the 1st week of the semester, allowing the professors to engage the students in the reading and theory of the class. This will put us in a position to work ahead of the students and the materials. The students are unprepared for the content study. Week 8 is now the close of the materials and discussions and the professors are deep diving into the content.

Sorry for the late reply. You can ask your students to read a story or complete an activity dealing with the content/topic you will discuss the following session. It does not need to be complex as you are working with children, but it will help students activate previous knowledge before coming to class.
