Off the Cut provides unique insight into a community of boaters living on the Kennet and Avon canal. The film follows a family on their pedal powered boat as they embark on a journey in which their way of life, and that of the whole community, comes under threat. London is a WICKED place run by entities with no ethics , morals or care for communities . Never understood the lure of such a place of over crowded , criminal high rents and dark base energy . there are pockets of great communities there but those with a bit of power are attempting to break families down . like beautiful boat communities like this , they all need to stick together , which they probably are already doing I would imagine and work together to stop this infantile retarded none sense

    UK LEGAL CASE . SUE CRT. FOR MENTAL STRESS HEALTH ISSHUE.............In the UK, the equivalent of representing yourself in court, known as “pro se” in the US, is referred to as “litigant in person”. This means you are handling your own legal case without the assistance of a solicitor or barrister.

    The CRT has to Police the Canals and rivers because unfortunately there are a lot of people who think they can do anything they want and live on some Craft that honestly a Rat would abandon 🤷‍♂️. There are New Rules coming out soon regarding every Narrow Boat must have a Home Mooring,even if they regard themselves as continuous cruisers. The Waterways act was designed and implemented quite a long time ago now and unfortunately things do change with time. There are many who comply with the CRT rules but there are many who don’t and they are going to spoil the Canals and Rivers for everyone else because CRT will just get tougher and Licences are going to cost a lot more and of course the Boat Safety ( MOT ) needs to be able to keep people safe ( in a lot of cases from themselves and the way in which they are trying to live ). The Canals are getting busier and Yes there are lots of Colourful characters but they live in some pretty dangerous crafts 🤷‍♂️. Fossil Fuels are going to be banned everywhere soon so no more collecting fire wood and burning that 🤷‍♂️

    Feel bad for that little child, from a dilapidated boat to a van, Children need stability and it's easy to blame the CRT but the parent needs to do better. Just my opinion

    Sounds a bit sketchy to me. CRT refusing to take money for a license? Right... My guess is most, not all, but most of the boaters in this doc just want to claim a spot as their own and stay there indefinitely. If that is the case, then move into a marina or pay for a permanent canal mooring. Just seems like the CRT are moving people along so the canals are fair for everyone and everyone can moor up wherever they want for a bit and then move on.

    The guy 9:40 are the worst kind of people on the waterways just look at the state of the towpath on the video. I should know having worked on the canal for nearly 40 years. Whats that woman say 19:50, nobody minds moving, this from the people that are coursing the problem because they don't move, you couldn't make this up.

    I lived on the cut, on the road, in the woods, bridleways and lay-bys of the UK , I don't remember any of these middle-class hippies helping us when we were getting harassed ,arrested and abused. ...they looked at us like WE were the problem. Now the authorities are coming for them. .... it's hard to have sympathy , but they do add something important to the canal - a bit of personality , creativity and community - everything that's being lost in this homogenous world ! First they came for the Jews. ........ect, ect

    The canals network will eventually be sold off to the private sector. Each canal will require a toll to use. The tax payer CRT quango with gov cronies creaming off cash perhaps will end at some point. The late great Barbara Castle will be turning in her grave. Why then do the CRT not remove sunken boats ?

  • @lth1072
    @lth1072 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't really see the issue with what the CRT are doing. If van travellers ( gypsies ) set up camp on someone's street. The homeowners would want them moved. The people shown in this video seem to be like traveller's. There's live aboard canal boaters who have jobs and manage to contribute. It seems these people aren't bringing anything to the local area. Their boats don't look well maintained and they take over the tow path with chairs, tables, junk.

    The real problem here is Squatter Boaters refusing to navigate from A to B to C to D. No . . . these Squatters are simply going from A to B and back to A, travelling a short distance and never really leaving the area. They want to live near London on the cheap, trash up the area, and create an eyesore for the 99% who are more than happy to comply with reasonable rule.

    In the video, she states they have to move every 14 days and she has been on that boat in that area for 12 years. How far has she moved, or has she stayed in the same proximity for all of those years? She also states that she has no control, when on the bike. No wonder her license was supsended!

    • @michaelhiggins7365

      Exactly ! Her peddle-power boat is a menace and hazard to navigation and other boaters. She earned the right to be thrown of the canal. Good riddance !

    The guy in this video is a liar, absolute dick, their not a public body, well google helps with this, here goes, "The Canal & River Trust is one of the UK's newest charities, created in July 2012 as the successor to British Waterways. As a public body, British Waterways was subject to FOIA 2000 legislation and the Canal & River Trust has inherited these obligations in respect to its statutory duties."

    If I were a continuous cruiser, I would try and maintain a community spirit by getting all my boater friends, if at all possible, to move together, on the same day each time. Do people do this?

    Creating a scrap yard on the canal bank is not what narrowboat life should be about. If your boat looks like it’s ready to sink then get a job for a while and make it better for your child’s sake.

    looks to m as everyone in this video are no different to the freeloading travellers you see in laybys or car parks , i love the canal and though I've only a small 14ft day boat (crt14) i love watching and looking at the narrow boats but when you see one dragging 3 others behind loaded up with junk its an eye saw and to me its disrespectful to the genuine continuous cruisers who abide by the waterways. everyone has the right to use the waters but don't take the micky, if wana live in a community go buy a house boating's about the freedom and the ability to roam not build boat community, half them boats dont even look fit for purpose, boat for sale will px a caravan

  • @garfstiglz3981
    @garfstiglz3981 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Whilst I agree with the CRT that laws need enforcing, the Inland Waterways Act says you must move every 14 days but as he admitted not by how far. The CRT guy in this video admitted the CRT doesn't have the legal power to tell boaters how far to move but in the next sentence he says this is how far they should move as a minimum. If they don't have the legal authority and then tell people to move a minimum distance the surely that's an illegal instruction and thereby they are acting outside of the purview of the law. Come on guys, don't talk about enforcing the law and then go ahead and act outside of it.

  • @vargr8435

    I think these kinda people are very selfish. Canals are for everyone to enjoy, meaning certain things have to be trade-off or sacrificed for everyone to be happy. They're not alone in this and everyone have to abide by the laws and rules. If you want a permanent spot rent a mooring, it's quiet simple. Can understand why CRT are pushing these kinda people to move 20 miles per year, they don't want shantytowns or surroundings to be destroyed. If 20 miles is such a great sacrifice for them maybe they shouldn't live on a boat. It doesn't cost money to keep things clean and tidy.

  • @borderreiver3288

    at the end of the day, it is all about money money money...the CRT are being bloody-minded about a few people...they are only interested in making money from hire boats .....and have no respect for peoples rights or the laws....next they will start attacking anyone living on boats as they want the whole system to be only for hired boats which makes them more money...

    The CRT are only wanting the nice pretty boats from the hire fleets and the new boaters who have just bought brand new hulls, they see the older hulls as eyesores, If they could they would have the vintage hulls scrapped and have a strict number of new hulls per year and then they'd increase the costs of licensing to force those on limited budgets off the canals.

    I don't think it's fair she is forced to sell the boat cos crt are pricks over situation when it could be solved with simple GPS tracker n tell crt to monitor it to satisfy there requirements with a community like that she could easily get someone to tow her over the 15 miles in couple of days problem solved for short term n she'd be able to keep her n cubs home was heart breaking listening to child having to sell his toys you clearly could see the mentle torture that boy going through over something that crt could resolve easily but seems they don't want to but would waste money on this and expect people to volenteer to help them hmm

    Why is the government bent on ruining people lives? If the canals are too crowed just stop issuing licences. Simple. And of course, the government picks on people that they know can't afford to hire a lawyer. A good lawyer would have this thrown out of court in five minutes, because it is illegal. Isn't this just typical not just in England, but all over the world.
