About gardening in Southern California. Tips, things we enjoy in our garden and other random stuff.
Tiny African daisy with tiny flower
This little guy grew on its own recently. Guessing it’s tiny due to the tough environment it sprouted up in (hot and dry). Nothing special, but cute nonetheless.

Sorry for the dizzying camera work. It’s tough to film and walk at the same time.

Why is it covered mango like full 🌞 sun.
How old plant?
That's litterly how I season everything. No measurements, just "cover it" 😁

We need to cover up with plastic bag on top?
You made me laugh when you said just stick it in the dirt :) I’m gonna do that. The soup looks good, I didn’t know you could eat the leaves. Thank you 🙏🏼
Very nice 👌 👍new friend 🎉
2like done
Good job. When will be a good time to graft plumeria? Thank you.
I could hear you just fine. I found that my seedlings (grown indoors) have doubled in growth as soon as I repotted them. Although I think I kept them in a pot too small for their needs for a few months. They're thriving now 😊
This has white flowers
Is this yellow one ?
Bro my uncle and I thought it was a ufo 😂
😂
Are you in Woodland Hills?
In San Gabriel Valley
Thank you for the tutorial. Do you let the grafted site “breathe” like taking some of the tape off time to time or do you leave the tape until the stems bind permanently together?
❤wow
Thanks!
I am watching for India
My Canadian sensibilities: peel the skin, slice thick, wrap in bacon, BBQ or pan fry, put it in a burger bun with cheese and toppings.
Didn't trim roots.
Good info, but I can barely hear you even with my A/C turned off. You need to redo it.
Looks great! First time I’ve seen ube in soup 😍
Why not put it in a prettier pot? Js 😊 thank you 😊
The tree is too precocious. I'd remove it to grow enough leaves then let it fruit when it's bigger. The growth will stop with so much fruit.
Thank you so much for this video. First one Ive seen that shows how they turn out. Ive just tried the slant & v graft few days ago. As you say slant was harder to keep in place. Cant wait to see how they turn out. 👍
Thank you for your video I’m planning on grafting several varieties onto one tree this coming spring. My question is how do you know which varieties can be grafted together and are compatible?
Take off that fruit for healthy fast growing plant.
You shouldn´t let it fruit after the third or fourth year planted... The tree could even die.
Bro, that midget tree is already producing, jeez
Great video ! Get a Razor Blade Knife, you are fighting the tree with a dull kitchen instrument. You can remove the blades and sharpen them many times.
Are you in los angels? Temperature range 👍👀
My dragon fruit tree is bothered by aphids and ants. do you get that problem? I tried to use neem oil and DE but it sometimes it makes the fruit "burnt" looking
How can you get vegetarian fish sauce when fish is an animal
Excellent did you say mushroom powder
Are you on mushroom powder? Lol
Can you do a video on how to grow. I tried the small ones fall off the vine. What do you use for fertilizer
If you leave the longer part of the stem on thr BOTTOM, GRAVITY WILL HELP bc you can rest the top piece on the bottom stem (like for the first example and then the angle one that you showed that you didn't do in the video... But you had the liner pieces on top...)
Thank you for this informative Video.
Mine, too! after many years of planting, I finally got the first flower and blooming! very beautiful! 👍🏻♥️🤟 i only got one flower 😅😅
I have plumeria from the same farm you bought yours from. I’d be interested in seeing what names you have. I have 8 to 10 different ones. Jeanne Morange, pink courtade, Singapore pink, charlotte Egbert, Anaheim sunset, Linda K. I have some that I’ve grown from seed, those are purple-yellow, blue-green, blue-yellow, bright red, white-yellow, yellow varieties, pink variety, and a few other ones. What color tree do you use as the rootstock for your graphing? Do you use the basic white or yellow every time? I’m very interested to see what the resulting color emerged.
From Upland Nursery, I got India, Singapore Pink (deceased), Penang Peach, Kauka Wilder, Heidi Gold, Jean Morange (although the flower doesn't look like it). I bought several seed packs as well. It's only been a few years, but I haven't gotten any of the seedlings to flower yet. For grafting, I mostly use an unknown pink variety given to me by a coworker. It appears to give me the highest chance for success.
I just ate a Nam Doc Mai this morning. That has got to be my favorite mango. It's fiberless and tastes like happiness. I would be happy eating a couple of those every single day.
My 3 wk old graft is starting to look wrinkled. I haven't watered because there is no new growth. Is this a sign of failure?
This may be the case. Successful grafts stay firm and green.
When is the best time to graft?
In the spring. I've had luck all the way through late summer, though
You cut too early? Did they flower again?
No, the plant died shortly after, possibly during a heat wave. I've learned my lesson with mango plants grown elsewhere (it was from Florida).
Why cut off perfectly good piece to add another. Just throw away extra plant? Or give it away?
It's a method to make one plant multiple colors .. the one cut will continue to grow as well lol
Omg, I’m so jealous. I killed 4 mam doc mai plants. For some reason they just don’t do well in my care 🤷🏻♀️ I just got myself a Carrie mango tree, no fruit yet.
My seedlings are blooming in less than 2 years
Thank you, very good video
Sorry, can’t hear you.
Are leaves edible as well?
