Hi, my name is Jessie Jaggers and I'm a sharpener in Oklahoma specializing in the Pet grooming industry. My goal with this page is to share information on grooming equipment maintenance. I will share videos on maintenance like changing blade drive and cords on clippers to proper oiling and care of clipper blades, and shears. If there is a video you would like to see please let me know and I'll make one. I hope these videos help. Oh and bare with me, I'm no Steven Spielberg...lol

Hello, groomers. This is Jessie with Sharp Edges in Oklahoma.
And today I wanted to go over changing the blade lever in the Wahl KMC cordless clipper.
Now, what you'll need for this is a phillips one size bit, a phillips size one bit, and a flathead screwdriver. There are three screws in the clipper, and I have already removed the three in order to save time in the video.
Once you've removed those three clippers, you take the top and you lay it back, and you'll see the blade lever there. You'll take your flathead screwdriver, you'll insert it underneath there and pry that up so that you can pull the blade lever off this post. Uh, and then you replace it with the new blade lever.
And you'll see that from the factory. This comes with a little dab of lithium, um, grease on the inside of the yoke there. Go ahead and put more grease on there. And then just put the new one back on the post. And that's really all there is to it.
Then you will want to just put the clipper back together, line everything up, make sure that the wires are inside and the post is lined up. And then you just put the three screws back in, and you're done. Now, if you're like me, sometimes you forget the bail hanger.
When you reassemble the clipper, you just stick one edge in the hole on that side and slide it over to the other side, and you're good to go. All right, well, I hope this helps.

Hey great video very informative… my wife has a grooming salon and I just recently bought an old treyco CL it’s 16” wheel ? It’s 25 years old roughly it works just fine ,honing wheel has plenty of life on the one side for HG sharpening … I am successfully sharpening my wife’s blades and she’s happy … However it takes me 2 minutes to sharpen the comb and cutter with the automatic arms on the Treyco machine this machine has one speed and is optimized for the automatic arms I believe … would you advise I update to a newer machine … most videos I see with people sharpening, is done by hand like you have done … is this because it much quicker than using the arms … I appreciate any information regarding me getting faster thx Dave
@@davidvarney7353 sorry for the late response. I would say that if you were just doing it to sharpen your wife’s blades, you’re fine with the machine you have. Having the arms on there greatly reduces the learning curve for doing clipper blades. It takes a while to learn how to do them freehand. As a matter of fact, I’m about to add new employees and I just bought an automatic Sharpener myself. If you do want to speed it up, though, you can do like I did an upgrade to a bigger motor...😁
@@sharpedgesok Hey thx so much Much for the reply , mush appreciate it
I just got my from the website groomers choice and when I go to switch the power button on to the 2 speed it just blinks and doesn’t cut on. It’s fully charged I think they gave me a used and non-functional clipper blade even looked used. Unless I’m doing something wrong.
@@noelyoung4132 the reason that the blade probably looks used is because they test all the blades and so that maybe test material that you’re seeing on the blade. as far as the light blinking and the clipper not coming on You should definitely contact Groomer’s choice or Wahl as those clippers come with a five-year warranty.
Hi, how long the battery last?
@@pablogarcia9426 it has a 2 hour run time...😁
I wondered if you need to line the teeth up somehow when you put it all back together.... Mine is pretty new, but I took it to pieces, then I put it back together, and now it won't cut! Any tips would be gratefully received!!
@@cocoandrobin yes the teeth should be lined up evenly. The teeth of the upper (cutter blade) should be approximately the width of a credit card back from the teeth of the bottom (comb) blade. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions...😁
I love the clack clack

I fired my sharpener because I sent in blades that were cutting fine but weren't gliding through the fur like they should be. Got them back and the guy had stolen the Andis cutters and replaced them with Oster. I don't think I'll ever pay someone to sharpen my stuff again. The guy already had points against him for returning most of my blades and they'd stop cutting on the first dog I would clip.
Wait I just noice you do the maintenance on these lol, what are your prices and how can I get it to you

One in four brand new Oster clipper blades will not cut hair ! ….because the comb comes down the assembly line and is sharpened there . Literally just took mine out of the box and they don't work
Unfortunately Quality control is not what I used to be.
Tbh companies let defects go through and wait for them to come back, it's like using the customer as an extra employee to check for defects
Although I will mention that shipping is also rough, I was a package handler at ups for 2 years; everyone tortures the boxes, cuts them open to see what's inside tape it back up, and if theyre getting boxes faster than they feel like working they start launching and slamming the packages to move faster. I wouldn't be surprised if your packages' handlers messed with it
@@robuu5890 yep, I see that all the time
@@robuu5890 I tell people when sending mail-in sharpening to just assume that their package will be football kicked across a warehouse and package accordingly...lol

If my clippers are only 1 year old and bot used often, would you assume its not the bkade drive/lever? I replaced the blades too. So maybe I'm dealing with the hinge screw or tension? Any thoughts?
I would think blade drive after a year.
Question about cleaning. Thanks for the light oil tip I saw a short. And they had the clippers on and turned upside down and put it in shallow liquid and it pulled all the hair out. Do you approve? Is that water.or.oil I was gonna do that with oil but I don't wanna soak the motor which I had yet to consider. Might try with water since it's easier cleanup.and dry. What about blade maintenance Got a touch of rust.
A good blade wash like H42 would be great
Thanks for this. My tension was too tight.

I just purchased one of these clippers a month ago, it had been working pretty amazing, and today, I turned it on and it was very loud, with or without a blade. Any advice or guess of what can cause that noise? Thank you so much
Try tightening the screws on the Hinge. It takes a Torx 10 but. Even a 1/4 turn can Make difference. making a lot of noise with without a blade. You should get it to your local Sharpener assuming they do clip repair. Because then it’s probably an internal issue, like the motor mount screws or the foam pad around the motor. Let me know if I can help anymore....😁
How important is it to wire brush your blades after sharpening on the wheel? I have been using the same sharpening guy for years and I always notice when using my Andis t-outliner they drag or won't cut thru fine hair. My guess is after he sharpens, he doesn't remove the burr from the blade.
Burr remove is very important. Anytime you sharpen anything a Burr is created. It's the excess metal from the sharpening process, and can significantly affect the cutting performance. Even causing the blade to not cut even though it is sharp.
Great video...One thing that puzzles me is which side do you remove the burr on the comb or cutter?
We remove the burr on both the Comb and the cutter
I purchased a sharpening machine that was mounted in a wooden box. The machine has no marks on so I don’t know who manufactured it. The honing disk is 12 inches in diameter and has a 1/2 inch hole to mount on the motor and one set screw to hold it in place. The disk needs to be replaced. I said all this to ask if you could help me figure out where to get a new disk? Thank you. I would send pictures but I don’t see any way in comments.

Is there any way to prevent the cord from pulling out of the bottom over time? That’s the only reason I ever have to replace my cord
Some people zip tie the cord to the metal hanger on the bottom of the clipper.
I think if my blade were any sharper I’d slice my face they’re brand new
What do you do if they do rust?
Use a scotch Brite pad or fine steal wool to remove the rust..😁
You said, "I hope that helps somenone.." . Thank you so much. You helped me. Just by telling me to pop the hinge open. Mine closed and I couldn't figure out what to open to get my blade back on. Thankyou so much for your help!!! :)
