A Conversation With DA SLYME
Newfoundland's ground-breaking and famous punk rockers, Da Slyme, reunited at Fred's Records in June of 2023. The occasion: to commemorate the special limited edition vinyl release of “If There’s No Rubble, You Haven’t Played: Collected Recordings 1977-89 on Montreal-based label Celluloid Lunch Records. Fred's own Quinten Taylor held the honours of MC for this once in a lifetime experience, drawing followers of the band through the decades and fresh faces having known of these legends from stories passed down. The members of Da Slyme - Stig Stiletto, Kurt Sic-o-Via, No Moniker, Pasquali Neutron, Dead Beat and Goohaw Groon - are witty, cordial, and vulnerable as they share a plethora of tales for a totally attentive crowd. This is a historical document that long-time fans and new listeners alike can use to place Newfoundland’s first punk band into the greater context of punk music.

Forgot to mention how great it is to see Fred's Records - I first haunted the vinyl stacks there in 1976 when I was at my first year at MUN, and still always love going back!
