Man.. most of what they took out served purpose. Nora accidentally knocked Blake off but we see (and Nora probably trusted. Imagine if it were Jean things would've been different) that Blake is a capable acrobat and is able to get herself back into the fight. There are similar explanations for most changes and why some of them suck, and why some are fine because this show took a different narrative, which is kinda sad because of the lack of humor and charm (eg the "Can I?" Joke) but also understandable. Also the MUSIC. the OG tracks were inspired, epic, and timed with the events on screen. Not generic anime bs

for me personally the only thing they did remotely better than the original was ruby running up the wall. it looks fucking amazing.aside from that they completely butchered this fight. no offense to the animators im sure it was a budget thing but i dont see why it had to be remade into an anime so soon if they couldnt actually fully represent the greatness of it

I can appreciate the quality of Ice Queendom, regardless of what parts they omitted/added. It's still pretty true and reverent to the original. The music, however, is just a terrible downgrade. Red Like Roses pt. II here is an absolutely integral part of this fight, to the degree that the fight was choreographed around it. The Ice Queendom music just feels hollow in comparison.

I find it funny that this is the first time I’m seeing the IQ fight and I’m seeing nearly an identical combat zone as I built in my rewrite of the full RWBY series. The fights are different from both OG and IQ versions at parts but still hold the same vibe.

Miscellaneous things - After playing ultimate, I went to recharge my glasses in the car. I went back into the venue to spectate & also revisited the art booths, where they gave me one of those free rockstar energy drinks as advertised. It was good. While I was at the art booths, I saw people doing the Kirby target challenge again. They explained to me the goal was to hit the target on the bottom with Kirby up b and reach the grass on the platform. They said Aklo had the record for doing it the fastest at the time. Don't Park On The Grass was a very one of a kind experience you could not get anywhere else. I enjoyed it.

I didn't watch the anime but everything I've seen of it fails to capture the charm that the original RWBY had. Ironically despite the insane animation and fluidity of motion the anime has, it fails to tell a story through character movements. Also it's very unclear what is happening in the Animated version. They don't take the time to linger on impactful, humorous, meaningful moments. Its really impressive how not good it manages to be :V

The show already wasn't something amazing, but it really loses a lot going from 3d to 2d, especially in terms of weight. Never thought I would say that about a show.
