LIFEBOAT FALLS RENEWAL ONBOARD SHIP AT ANCHOR || FLYING AT SEA ||
-Identify the Wires: Determine which wire is the large wire and which one is the small wire. The large wire typically goes forward, while the small wire goes aft.
-Prepare the Mooring Winch: Attempt to heave in the wires using the mooring winch. If it's not possible due to any reason such as damage or mechanical failure, you'll need to proceed with an alternative method.
-Cut the Old Wire: If you can't heave in the wires, you'll need to cut the old wire. Ensure to cut it at a safe distance from the lifeboat to prevent any accidents.
-Remove Old Wire from Davit Drum: Once cut, remove the old wire from the lifeboat davit drum carefully. Make sure there are no sharp edges that could cause injury.
-Thread New Wire Through Sheaves: Take the new wires and thread them through each sheave in a similar manner to how you removed the old wires. --Ensure that they are correctly aligned and secured to avoid any issues during hoisting.
-Adjust Falls: As you install the new falls, you may find that the lengths need adjustment, especially the last falls. Use a connecting shackle at the end with a turnbuckle to adjust the length as needed. This ensures that the lifeboat is properly suspended and balanced.
-Secure Connections: Once the falls are adjusted to the correct length, make sure all connections are secure. Double-check the integrity of the wires, shackles, and turnbuckles to ensure they can withstand the load of the lifeboat.
-Test Hoisting: Before putting the lifeboat into service, conduct a test hoist to ensure everything is functioning correctly. This includes testing the hoisting mechanism, checking for any signs of strain on the wires, and verifying that the lifeboat is properly suspended.

Good practice but precautions required for an emergency situation to remove extra rope lashing of liferaft .. You may place a knife near Liferaft till the extra rope lashing on.
