The ending of that invasion before the divine beast boss fog is the definition of a group of people saying: "Ok, enough playing around" and immediately dying when they started taking things more seriously 😅
"They effectively used tactics and teamwork to beat me. That makes them scrubs" - OP
Actually my real argument is that leaving comments like this makes you a scrub. You’d know that if you watched the video :)
It's even worse at 150, if you can believe it...I invaded some First Step griefers. The host was using some kind of thrusting sword that was doing both scarlet rot and poison build up, I don't know what it was, but I had to deal with that and a phantom sniping me with golem arrows from somewhere. I could've killed the host despite the poison/rot and having to rhythmically time my rolls to avoid the golem arrows, but then a red co-invader comes in and...kills me with a Giant's Flame Take Thee from offscreen. I thought it was an accident because he hit the host too, but then they both start tbagging my corpse. I'm training myself not to let shit like that piss me off. It's a hike up Mt. Everest, but I'm getting there. That being said, I don't know how you had the patience to deal with the shitters in this video...
Yeah it's always worse when the gankers know how to use invader tools like golem arrows. Clearly they tried invading before and couldn't handle losing so they resort to griefing. I try to remember that I'll never be as much of a cringe loser as these scrubs who just want to ruin my day.
Great video man. This is a huge reason why i only invade like once a week rather than all of the time like prior souls games. Not only is it frustrating to spend your time off either getting destroyed, or winning by having ran for 10 minutes, but half of your "invasions" are actually just fog walls. I know its júst a game, but ffs getting blendered after waiting for an invasion for 5-10 minutes is very demoralizing.
Thanks man! I feel this is becoming a more discussed topic in the community since the DLC. We're all feeling the life drain out of pvp in real time and forced to create our own fun. And it's so exhausting when you only have so many hours to yourself.
Thank you for this relaxing video! And the hollow knight soundtrack hits so hard, wasn’t expecting it, pleasantly surprised!
Nice vid man 👍
This video couldn't get to me at a better moment (Also thanks to algorythm but anyways). Long ago I watched Chasethebro's Pvp solo leveling run and got motivated to try it. Problem is, there is a lot of disadvantage and getting lots of runes out of it is hard, at least at the beginning. It was my first time focusingon invasion and on the pvp in general and got hit hard. I even considered quitting from the challenge and the game for a while. But after watching some other videos, after seeing I wasn't alone in this matter, and that there was much more for me to learn on pvp, I gave it another try. I keep frustrating at times, but I try to tune it down. Thanks for the video my dude!
I also did a pvp run and I got pretty tilted more than a few times lol. Had to take a bit of break after I completed it. Cool that it got you into that side of the game though, stick with it!
@@Weird_B0nes Updates to that. I was invading last night and thought of pausing for the day, but I went for a few more. I stumbled upon a coop who had the late game stuff, but either had little health or no upgrades on flasks. Even though I died in the end, I killed the coop and the guy dropped a wopping 300k RUNES! You can't imagine just how euphoric I was! I could lvl up 30 levels and buy a lot of stuff!! Really the boost I needed hahahah!
You say that the point of invading is to win? No. The point to anything in the game is enjoyment. Win or lose, if you aren't enjoying the process itself, you have already been defeated.
I didn't say the point is to win
No? At 01:28 it sounded as though you had.
@@alex_pearlMaybe my tone was off. My point is more how *most* players will view pvp when the souls version doesn’t gel with that. “After all the point of pvp is to win” was meant to be more of a “well this is what somebody would probably say”. Worth calling out.
@@Weird_B0nes Ah. Understandable. 👍🏻
I've had times where I am doing very well in an invasion. Dodging projectiles, waiting for a safe opening in a 3 v 1. I get one of them down, but then I get stuck on a rock or some immovable object and the other two catch up to me and chop me up like a vegetable. Either that or I spawn in and they're fighting a big ass dragon that takes up half the screen and can also hit me if it wants to. Usually I only get triggered by somebody spamming magic from two football fields away and as my corpse is fading they run over and start t-bagging, like alright bet, when I respawn you'll be my first target. But I like what you did when you left the afk blue alone to occupy a slot. I usually kill them for the free flasks, but I'll try it your way from here on. Sorry for the paragraph. New subscriber here, about to check out your other videos and see what else I can learn.
The spamfest invasions are the ones that can get me tilted sometimes. Hate having to wait my turn to do anything at all. If I'm full on flasks, worth leaving the AFK blues alone. But if I need that refill I take the freebie. I was just so fed up with the constant summons with these guys and I wanted to isolate them as much as possible. Not sure how educational my mid gameplay will be, but thanks for checking it out!
Truly people who are just wanting to get into invasions have been given the most difficult game to do so. Those of us who have played the previous souls games during their prime are so lucky compared to the newcomers to Elden Ring when it comes to PvP
I’ve discovered that if I lose my mental game in the invasion and start raging, I always lose. You have to keep your mental game strong or you’ve already lost
We should have a battle of the bones
@@Barebonesboyan humongous showdown
Yes, I'm bad at invasions I don't care I play for the PVE. But, I'm not sure how many of you had the fun and exciting experience of farming for Vertebra Shackles in dark souls 3 in fight clubs and invasions to get the platinum.
Good points there, and good vid.
DS2 was my first souls game and sadly I realized very late that I could just play offline with my PS3.. Elden Ring 99% I play solo. I enjoy the "me against the world" feeling and I take my time with the game. I use summons only for bosses or arears where it is safe to use. 🙂
Invasions truly teach you to never give up...
Or to give up and come back another day ; )
real and true
Im just trying to do this for a quest man 😞
I started invading not so long ago and most likely from sheer luck, I won my first invasion and mistakenly thought to myself, "oh maybe this is easier than I thought". I then invaded again and got immediately one shot by a phantom with a grave scythe. 😅 It was a funny reminder that I'm not supposed to win.
I must have invaded hundreds of times by now, think i may have won like two invasions? But i never stop cause the fun of invading and PVP, is just too great to not enjoy. The potential for epic anime fights is too big.
Hell yeah good mentality
Sounds like a skill issue tbh
So true bestie
As someone who's been playing these games since the release of DS2, I have a nice tip for invaders: always expect disadvantage. You are not in the arena, hosts and his blues/sunbros don't respect you, they WILL rush you, they WILL gank and spam at you. Don't hate message them after getting pawned, because you are not welcomed in the world of the host, you are quite literally a parasite wanting to disrupt and make their experience harder. Learn how to go around all the shit they're throwing at you, and this comes only with practice, which means, it comes with failiure.
Couldn't agree more. Especially about the hate mail, which is like losing a second time lol. Even if you know deep down that you could beat them one-on-one, it's not a duel.
Exactly! Invaders are basically role-playing the bad guy. Never expect respect or fairness from a host.
lmao nice bro
I admire your dedication
I've posted a video of something similar that happened to me, you can't really trust hosts in general. Btw, i'm glad you came out on top, that must have felt so good 😂
One of my best shitpots in recent memory lol. Really makes you wonder why some people choose to spend their time like this.
@@Weird_B0nes i see what you mean but I've honestly stopped guessing now. I just have fun with the game and post whatever i feel like it's fun here on youtube. That's all i ask from elden ring 🤣
The mind of a host is not worth pondering
What a battle! Nicely done. Also, is that Metroid Prime music I hear?
Yes it is
Its always nice when new people join the red team.
90% of the reason I play fromsoft games is for the pvp, I beat the game for the pvp and I have no shame in summoning help for bosses when I get impatient. However i will say plaything through the game on my level 30 without having the option to summon help has been extremely fun.
1v1? We can live stream it😅 I think it’d be fun
Love your playstyle ! Well done

Miyazaki said he designs his games in a way that people shouldn’t use guides
Crazy thing is if you go and actually read the interview I quote in the video you'll see that Miyazaki doesn't want people to *have* to use guides, but recognizes it as a "perfectly valid playstyle" and they "we expect that". He does not say that they *shouldn't* use guides, as if it's against his vision. Just that they do not design around the usage of guides. He even concedes that there's room for improvement on the dev's part if people are feeling lost or left out of the experience. There's nuance.
@@Weird_B0nes I don’t think there’s a Dev out there who would flat out gatekeep his own game and drive away customers. I use a guide on my second play thru. I respect the game and the studio too much to not grant one attempt to play blind, as intended.
You are indirectly of implying that blind playthroughs are the real way to "respect" the game and the studio. Is someone disrespecting them by not playing blind? Seems very black and white and passive aggressive. And yeah it's nice that you have this special relationship with the games like many do. But you're doing exactly what I argue against doing in the video. You are prescribing "intent" based on your own rules for play. It just seems to be assigning some intangible value to playing the game a certain way.
@@Weird_B0nes people who use guides on a first run, although not all of them (some know exactly what they want) , have never played blind. So how can they know which is better ? Or how can they know what they would enjoy if they only rush to use guides without experiencing the other way? I would never tell someone who uses guides they’re playing wrong, if they knew what they were doing. But so many players fall into a trap and do it without knowing the other side. “If I asked people what they wanted, they would’ve said faster horses” Henry Ford Sometimes people don’t know what they want until they experience it. Someone who uses guides out of the gate, cannot possibly know if they’d prefer going in blind until they actually give it a chance. Humans often rush to optimize everything if given the chance, it’s a human condition. Sometimes they shoot themselves in the foot by having a less than stellar time and then base an opinion around a subpar experience. I try and tell new players just play the game , you don’t need ten tabs open. It does kill the immersion. Some people rather that, and that’s fine. Some don’t know what they want, so maybe try first before killing the first experience that you only get once. What do u have to lose if it doesn’t work out? Then open a guide. Why take the chance ? Using a guide is playing someone else’s experiences and you’re stripping your own by doing that. Again, if they actually want that, who am I to tell them not to? What I do is, ask ppl to make sure that’s what they actually want, and not just something they feel like they need to do.
Yea, Miyazakis life experience that inspired coop means limited play, brief help by *strangers* in situational affairs then moving on and never seeing them again. What it doesn’t mean is - summon friends who are over powered and steamroll the game side by side beginning to end. Two completely different philosophies right there.
I’m not sure why is this a debate. Fact 1 - summoning coop in a souls game allows the player to make mistakes or completely disengage while still progressing the story. Fact 2 - it is your choice if you want to do that
Certainly a ruthless weapon. Very light on the flair tho...run, poke... 😂
I don't care much for visual spectacle, just reliable, responsive animations. Poke attacks are some of the best in pvp because majority of people will keep panic rolling and get vortexed. That said, the whole great katana moveset is solid, and is elevated even further with the right Ashes of War.
@@Weird_B0nes you have to learn how to wavedash, the cr1 is the best thing about the gk imo
Agreed the crouch is fantastic, especially with the talisman that boosts it. Believe me I'm utilizing it where possible! I need a new controller soon tho because the crouch button on mine is consistently getting stuck lately :(
@@Weird_B0nes I would recommend swapping ur crouch and jump buttons (crouch on X and jump on L3), it takes a second to learn but really helps
I use a Dualshock with 2 back buttons (1 mapped to roll, the other to crouch), because of wrist tendon issues. So the problem is that back button sticking. It's a similar issue with the triangle button too. I wish "pro" controllers had more consistent quality and held up for more than a year. I can't claw grip nowadays so the back buttons really are necessary. I really appreciate the suggestion though, I might give that I whirl!
Fav AOW on the Great Katana?
Flame Strike is my go-to because its very good at controlling multiple opponents and has a lot of opportunity for free-aiming and followups. Close second would be sword dance since the last hitbox will usually catch people with decent latency.
I remember the music, I just can't remember what games they were from.
@@robertmenottis8989 first one is from Smash Bros Melee. Second one is Hollow Knight. Third is Metroid Prime 3
This video has been profoundly validating to my total experience with this game. If a friend didn’t tell me to use co-op after I took 3 months off, I never would have made it out of limgrave. And now I always leave the blue cipher item on and throw down a summon sign whenever I have the time, hoping I can help people along their own version of that journey. Thanks for putting things into perspective.
I'm very glad you got something meaningful out of my ramblings!
I bought the game myself I’ll play however the f I want 🎉
If im extremely tired with a boss, i sometimes summon a player. Immediately after the victory i just go and help a few times to give it back to others. Co-op is a blessed mechanic, dont be ashamed. Just help out someone else after!
Coop summons are fun. Spirit ashes make the experience somewhat future-proofnfor offline play
I remember defending someone who likes to summon by telling this guy that. “Elden Ring isn’t darksouls it’s an open world RPG, you wouldn’t tell someone you’re supposed to play Monster Hunter just like DMC since they’re both action RPGs from the same developer team”
Not a single one of the people who shame others for summoning are actually good at these games lol
And you know this how? I don’t personally shame anyone for using summons. What I do is, encourage people who are capable, not to. I can’t help but share my experiences with something I love, to someone else who’s engaging it. I summoned all the time and the games were always just okay. When I solod ds3, that’s when they became my favorite games ever and really all I play now.
@@stevemichael652 it’s really common knowledge. Do you ever see high level speed runners, challenge runners, mod creators, or people who have achieved anything notable talking down on people summoning? Or is it usually the denizens of x social media platform who believe that because they simply beat the game, they get to decide that someone else is inferior because they beat the game differently? Take it like this - if someone as good as Let Me Solo Her spent time publicly shaming people for summoning, we quite literally wouldn’t have the legacy we know today
@@Over9000Chainz I think people have a hard time accepting a reality that, doesn’t change despite what internet prowlers say. It is an irrefutable fact that summoning other players makes the game less challenging. Youre not as engaged with mechanics, boss encounters, room for era increases tenfold so on. The problem isn’t that people are shaming those who summon help. I run a souls group on FB, 160 K members. It’s incredibly rare I see someone actually shaming someone else for summoning. The vast majority of people summon. Non summoners are a minority. If I see it, it may be once every few months, and they get banned. the problem is when people who beat the game solo, don’t validate the experience of those who summoned friends. And they don’t have to. If you password up with a friend or two, and steamroll the game from beginning to end by hiding in the corner while ur coop tanks bosses and everything inbetween, your experience and my experience are not the same. Someone who spent 2 days on Messmer , learning his moves and finally beating him and being filled with euphoria, is supposed to put the guy who steamrolled him with two phantoms on the same level? It’s simply not going to happen. I’m not going to shame them, but I will say something like “man that boss was really tough for me, you should try it yourself sometime”. The problem is people who summon demand a pat on the back, and validation , and they don’t deserve it. I’m tired of people who solo the game get called sweats and try hards, yea I see A LOT of that in the community. I see solo players getting shamed by people who “have jobs” and “no time” to “sit in their mom’s basement” and actually learn the fucking game they’re playing. Give me a break.
@@Over9000Chainz I run a FB souls group with 160 K members, and I’ll say maybe once every few months will I actually see someone shaming someone who summons. And they get banned. A vast majority of people summon especially with ER and the dlc bringing in an entire new huge audience. Solo players are the minority. The problem is not shaming cooperators. The problem is when solo players don’t validate them. And they don’t have to. If I spend two days beating a boss, and someone passwords with two of their friends and stun locks that same boss into oblivion on their first try, we aren’t playing the same game. People who summon need to accept they’re playing a multi player campaign for different reasons than a solo player. You know what I see an awful lot of? People who summon calling solo players try hards and sweats, and how unlike them, they have jobs and don’t have the time to learn the game they’re playing. That’s all I see in the community. If you want credit, or to have your experience validated, start with yourself. Because anyone who summons, and then feels bad if someone says something, must be insecure otherwise they wouldn’t care. Again, being mean and shaming people is wrong across the board. But when there’s a discourse and an honest discussion happening around these games, you can’t expect a solo player to validate a summoner. It’s pretty entitled to do that.
@@Over9000Chainz I run a Souls group on FB. 160 K members and maybe once every few months will I see someone actually shame someone for cooperating , and they get banned. The problem isn’t shaming others for summoning, the problem is more so, solo players not validating their experience. And why should they? If I beat a boss after 20 tries solo and you do it summoning , on your first, we aren’t playing the same game. I shouldn’t be expected to validate your experience when you steamrolled a boss that took me hours to conquer. But you know what I do see a lot of? I see a lot of people shaming solo players and calling them try hards and sweats with too much time on their hands. Almost like, “hey I have a job and kids I don’t have time to learn the game I’m playing”. I see that context every day. So give me a break.
Typically I don't use summons and only use spirit ashes outside of bosses, but I use guides basically constantly and cheese the hell out of bosses with glitches or whatever else like it's nobody's business. In order to avoid feeling like a gigantic loser what I usually do is only read the enemy's name that drops [item, weapon, consumable, etc] and from there try and figure out where the guy might be. When I'm learning how to murder a boss via glitches I'll only look at the end of a guide in order to "set the scene" and get a general idea of what things should look like when I'm on the right track, from which point I'll try to recreate the glitch by brute force. With my method, I've only been able to successfully recreate Grayll's, the Night's Calvary in Caelid's, and the Nox boss' in the town of sorcery.
I think it's such a cool concept to have strangers working together in a game like this super rewarding to come back and people with a boss you struggled on too
It's a super unique system that others have tried to replicate to varying success. Definitely not to be discounted.
38 minutes to say "yeah if you want"
I’m glad the point came across clearly :)
@@Weird_B0nes Less is more, Bye. /stops 20 seconds in cause he just made your entire video pointless.
Attention spans are different for everyone! I like to spell out the many reasons and supporting evidence behind "yeah if you want", because that's how arguments are constructed. Maybe next time consider listening to more than 20 seconds of the video before judging it's quality. Hope this helps :)
elden ring to me as a new player is an art piece i don't care much to prove my own skill i want to chill and enjoy the beautiful world, enemies, bosses, armors, etc. i did beat margot first try yesterday but if i get stuck on a boss you bet your ass i'm going to search up best summon and i'm going bleed build already, i know if i wasted 1k hours of my life dying 1000's of times to learn all the attack patterns i could do whatever these elitists do.. but for what? i'm a very competitive gamer i basically only play competitive games but i don't see the part in elden ring where i have to try hard at all, if a boss is coming up i'm gonna get ready yes but it's just dying till you get a grasp of the attack patterns then getting a feel for the timing then either getting lucky or just out playing the patterns to me that's not that insane mechanically. I'm an osu player so i have a decent idea of what trying hard/perfectionism/never quitting is, i've also played semi pro in cod i understand that thing people talk about or mean when ''naked with club or no skill'' but it's not impressive it's literally just dying thousands of times..
I think any approaches are totally valid, as long as you don't try to instruct others on what is "intended" or "legitimate". I've done try hard runs and super casual ones. Pros and cons to each type! But I do agree that the community attitude around the topic could be much healthier and welcoming than it is.
Very well put assessment on why you shouldn’t care of what these “purists” think about summoning/asking for help. I appreciate the fact that you put the Miyazaki quotes in there to further prove your point. It’s always so odd to me how toxic the player base can get but that’s just crowd mentality I guess anyway I enjoyed the vid and I’m really excited for the DLC to drop on Friday so see you on the other side fellow tarnished 🫡
I love that he criticizes him self by saying the need for guides is a fault on his part. A level of criticism most souls fans are incapable of emotionally excepting. The blind play threw is all in someones mind, i have done both and got the same experience. The CEO has always been on the side of play your way and no gate keeping.
Always good to be self aware. Not sure if I'd use the term "fault" for anyone needing a guide, since it's I don't consider it a shortcoming on the player's part. But definitely agree with your overall point!
T- Bagging? Have SOME honor dude
No :)
I lost a friend over this. I didn't use a guide and aimed to 100% without guides. Until a certain point, like invisible walls or bridges, I did. Exploration was phenomenal. But my friend struggled to do the same. He got super angry at very basic "are you following the questlines?" "have you met x?" "What do you mean you haven't gotten torrent yet you're in caelid" He was a anti-guide purist. He looked down on my hard won knowledge, and said that I read guides. No mother fucker, I experienced 90% of the game through exploration, you just suck and want to cry and dismiss. My point is that these people that hate guides, are the ones that would benefit the most from reading one or two.
Sorry to hear your friend reacted like that over basically nothing! Sounds like he cared more about comparing himself to you rather than actually enjoying his time with the game. Sadly not uncommon...
