UDPBD plugin for XtremeEliteBoot+
This is a plugin for the Xtreme Elite Boot Plus dashboard for the PlayStation 2.
It allows XEB+ to load PlayStation 2 games from a PC via neutrino github.com/rickgaiser/neutrino .
It is bundled with a windows app `UDPBD-for-XEB+.exe` to automate the setup process.
Features
- Load PlayStation 2 game backups straight from the Xtreme Elite Boot Plus dashboard.
- Two different editions:
- Standard edition for quick and easy setup. (udpbd-vexfat)
- VMC edition with support for virtual memory cards. (udpbd-server)
- Quick navigation functions for browsing large game lists.
- Remember last played game.
- Display game-specific artwork on the menu.
- Set neutrino compatibility flags and other options on a global or per-game basis.
- Favorites list.
Requirements
- A PlayStation 2 console configured to run unsigned code via an exploit such as FreeMCBoot or PS2BBL.
- LaunchELF v4.43x_isr (bundled with PS2BBL) or LaunchELF v4.43a 41e4ebe (bundled with FMCB v1.966)
- A PlayStation 2 slim with built in Ethernet or a fat model with an OEM network adapter.
- A MBR FAT32 formatted USB drive that is ready to be erased.
This is used for XEB+ and assorted files. Game ISOs are stored on the PC.
- A Windows PC with enough free space to store game ISOs.
- An ethernet cable to connect the PS2 to the PC.
If your PC does not have an ethernet port available, a USB ethernet adapter will work.
Standard Edition or VMC Edition
In the latest release github.com/MegaBitmap/UDPBD-for-XEBP/releases there are two different editions to choose from.
The standard edition uses the udpbd-vexfat server which supports windows NTFS and exFAT partitions.
This means that game ISOs can be put almost anywhere on your main C: drive or any secondary drive.
The limitation of this edition is that virtual memory cards (VMCs) are not supported.
The VMC edition uses the original udpbd-server built for windows and includes support for virtual memory cards.
This edition requires extra steps to setup as it only allows games to be stored on an exFAT partition specifically created with GParted/Linux.

You totally have a "narrator voice"! 😅 Reminds me of "My Lunch Break".
You saved me with this video! If you have a newer USB please follow this tutorial to have your games running in your ps2. Also a tip, If you have games' ISO higher than 4Gb (FAT32 format has a limitation to store files +4gb) try using "USButil v2.2" and convert ISO into ps2 game in root folder from ur USB. Never store converted ISO on DVD folder, DVD folder only works for ISO file.
Game buttons not soft.
I'll leave a thumbs up because the tutorial technically worked for me. However, the game runs excruciatingly slow for me. I have no idea why. EDIT: turns out my PS2 doesn't like it when it isn't detecting a Dualshock 2 controller (I mostly play fighting games with a Dualshock 1) in controller port 1. Everything works fine now. Thanks!
hello, thanks for your incredible work would it be possible in the future to get accurate reads using udbpd?
Mine was already MBR and is FAT32 but my PS2 still can't read it :(
I had to change wLE_ISR's IP address to 192.168.000.010 like shown on this video because the one I used (192.168.001.010) didn't work and made this fork close. Also, for some reason, said fork doesn't work if ran from mc1 since it freezes and so I ran it from an USB device. How to know which Neutrino version comes with it and how to update it?
@@afonso4474 Xtreme Elite Boot+ and the neutrinoLauncher plug-in must be installed onto a flash drive, not a memory card. My fork has neutrino v1.3.1 included. When i enter Xtremeeliteboot+ there is just black screen. What do i do?
@@jacklope79 That happens when XEB+ can' locate the files. Possible solutions depending on the case scenario: - Are you sure you unpacked/pasted the whole XEBPLUS folder in the pendrive? XEB+ requires the contents of every subfolder. - If you're using a pendrive that has two or more partitions, paste it in the first primary one. -If you have checked everything and the issue persists, format your pendrive with Rufus and try again.
@@MegaBitmap formated my pendrive with rufus, unpacked the whole folder in the pendrive, problem still persists.
when I launch kelfbinder.elf it just loads a blank white screen
This actually worked, thank you! Tho I will be using it to play EyeToy Camera exclusives as it does fix the problem. Great tutorial!
Turns out the crashing problem came from my side of things, i don't really know why it happened i had the games on an external hard drive and they crashed if i stayed in a level and didn't progress for a while when i moved them to my pc however everything worked great and also artwork loaded which is also great (aside from that issue i think devil may cry crashes sometimes while using a yellow orb and also some games display in weird aspect ratios (the games i have encountered this issue with are chulip where it displays on half of the screen on a crt tv and dark cloud 2 )

how do I uninstall PS2BBL from a Memory Card?
@@ClaudioBelatoSato The easiest way is to format the memory card within the freeMCboot installer. This will completely remove all files from a memory card. If you don't have another way of loading PS2 homebrew, make sure to install freeMCboot before exiting the installer.
@@MegaBitmap it worked, thank you. Do you know how I can detect the bootrom on my 900xx
@@ClaudioBelatoSato This is from consolemods.org : Early batches of the 900xx use BIOS version ROM 2.20, but beginning in batches made in Summer 2008 (datecode 8C) and later, they use BIOS version ROM 2.30, patching-out the conventional loading of FreeMcBoot and other memory card mods based upon OSDSYS.
@@ClaudioBelatoSatoyou can use ps2ident on your PS2 and look for ROMVER. Or you can look at the datecode of the sticker on your console if it still has it, anything 8B or below is gonna have 2.20, 8C or above (9x, 0x, 1x, 2x) is gonna have 2.30
EDIT: It works thanks to @MegaBitMap please check his reply under this comment for similar issues. Don't set a weird IP number, that might be the issue in my case (also all the weird leftovers from using so man VMs beforehand) I'm dealing with multiple issues on my Slim PS2. 1 - When I try to use XEB+ UDPBP plugin you made, I get "Error: Could not read mass:XEBPLUS/CFG/neutrinoLauncher/neutrinoUDPBD.list. The File may be missing or corrupted" 2 - On the server application, I'm getting "Connection Failed: DestinationHostUnreachable" when I'm idling on uLaunchELF (after PS2NET) I have confirmed my Ethernet cable works with OPL over SMB. Direct connection is successful with OPL over SMB. Tested this with 2 USB devices, downloaded the files again and got the same error (1). For the second error, I have no idea what is wrong at all. What I have tested: - Disable share of the game directory - Try downloading the files again - Different uLaunchELF versions - Check written guide and try most of the steps again - Python is installed, I guess the app wouldn't work without it anyway?

I think you would be better off doing the mmcx modification. Then you can replace the cable for whatever you want, anytime.
Thank you, this method is better than your newest because XEB is buggy as all hell and OPL allows for GSM, which crashes on XEB. Thank you, this works great. I could not get the wireless method working, but it works fine thru direct connection PS2 to PC.
Do these aps work on a ps2 phat? I tried once and it just went back the hud menu
Yup. It works on all PS2s that can load homebrew. You probably have something misconfigured somewhere.
I have torned 12vhpwr psu cable do you think this can still be fixed?
For anyone who's had loads of issues trying to set up UDPBD with a router and not PC direct connection; Make sure of three things: Correct IP Address, in this case, completely ditch OPL and get XEB+, OPL forces a static OP no matter your settings. Second, check your ULE version, i recommend updating to the latest possible fork. Seemingly, completely ignore what your router says about connected devices, my PS2's have seemingly never showed up in the router connected devices, dunno why, but it has no affect on if this works or not. Finally; you need to launch the PS2 server and sync BEFORE opening XEB+, this didn't seem clear to me in the tutorial but that's how it works, it was dropping the connection every time i entered XEB+ but i realized that's how it works. -And of course, if games are launching to a black screen, completely clear all your firewall settings for the server, in my case i had some old ones from when i was manually launching for OPL, clearing them and then relaunching the server from the XEB+ launcher to make new ones fixed this. Now it's working 100%.
Nice, thanks for the fix. My issue was the launchELF version that came with my funtuna install. I switched to El_Isras version (wLaunchELF v4.43x_isr), and I was able to ping my ps2 right after launching ps2net.
i got strange method when i try on Fat 39000 it goes black screen evertime but when try on slim 70000 it work flawless
@saharatch1432 I don't think it's compatible with the phat models
How would we use GSM in this? It doesnt work unfortunately as it just crashes when you try to open it.
Dude you are amazing, after like 6 hours struggling with OPL which I have to do every time I get a new computer this worked in 5 minutes. thank you so much
When I'm trying to connect to PS2, it gave me an error "Connection Failed: DestinationHostUnreachable" I'm already on the PS2NET process.
Same dude
I kept clicking it and it worked! try again, it took mine 3 times but now it works everytime. I didnt change absolutely any setting other than getting pissed off and clicking the button over and over lol. loaded up a game on my ps2 and it worked :)
same, im at my wits end with this shit lol. I updated my ulaunchelf after realizing that was horrendously out of date, and got a connection to my PC through the router, yet the PS2 still doesnt show up in my router.. trying to then load UDP/XEB shows that the connection completely drops once i enter that app. -got it working, making a new comment for anyone who runs into issues in the future.
Thank you for bringing fresh stuff to the PS2 scene! Is there a Linux alternative to your UDPBD-for-XEB+ backend? It would be nice to have the backend running constantly on my homelab Linux server so I wouldn't need to turn on my main PC every time I want to play PS2.

Great to see this development. Networking loading is something I was hoping to add to this plugin eventually, but I wasn't entirely sure how to go about it. This method seems a bit more cumbersome than I'd prefer, but I'm very impressed with how you got the plugin to read the game list from over the network. Right now I'm working on a major update that adds support for USB and MX4SIO, which has involved a major overhaul to the way game lists and title IDs are handled. I'm not sure how compatible my changes are going to be with your implementation, but there will be a framework for loading from multiple devices with a single plugin, so hopefully your developments can be rolled into the main branch down the line. I'd also really like to see a verson of the server and sync software that can run in a headless Linux environment. That would make network loading much more practical for myself and anyone else who has a NAS or homelab to host the files from.
@@sync-on-luma Thank you for making the plug-in. I am looking forward to seeing the future updates.

What's the benefit over using OPL?
This plugin loads games with neutrino, which is known to have better compatibly with certain games than OPL. This is currently one of the most comprehensive and user-friendly neutrino front ends, and I've been working to fix bugs and expand it's utility further. It's also (IMO) the best option if you want to load games from a hard drive larger than 2TB.
@@sync-on-luma thanks so much for the reply!
@@sync-on-luma So unless I specifically need Neutrino over OPL, then I shouldn't bother, right?
@@beetheimmortal Or if you want more than 2TB of disk space on the PS2, the hard drive version of this plugin will let you do that, or if just prefer the XMB style interface.
@@sync-on-luma I use an SMB server for my PS2, since it's a Slim which can't be modded to even have a HDD, so that also doesn't concern me. The interface does look cool though, but replacing my entire OPL installation just for that seems a bit overkill.
