Easy to move😂
@@mikepage9520 Our wheel system makes it easy to move the coop around to fresh grass when needed!
This is delightful to see
@@smiley9872 Thank you!
I just figure it you're gonna sell or charge people for the plans for this thing, it ought to be complete. Currently there are 3 or 4 things i have had to figure out on my own. Things not included in the blueprints or in the video. Overall its a great build but i would hope you might add these things to your plans 1. The need for penny nails 2. The need for wire 3. The need to tie the hardware cloth at the ends and in the middle of the arch. 4. When doing the 2 panel coop, the need to add an additional 2 ft wide hardware cloth section in the middle to full cover the panels. Again adding in how you would tie these sections together to secure them as one unit. Thanks
@@11hourpower41 All items mentioned are covered in the video. We do realize sometimes it’s easy to overlook when you are going through a build. That is one great thing about the video, it’s always for reference if you need to go to review. We are also happy to answer questions or provide clarification, just shoot us an email. We pride ourselves on responding to questions in a timely manner. Thank you for the feedback and will keep those points in mind for future build videos!
how would you go about winterizing this? Where I am in zone 7 it gets both above 95° and below -5° (F) my old coop we built up as a shed, with insulation and the like. And we kept heat lamps in there during the winter. Was just wondering about this because plastic is very thin haha
I want to keep chickens so badly (I lived on a huge farm growing up and we had tons of chickens, cows, goats, etc) but the people who live with me hate the idea of them. They act like they’re the ones who are going to be taking care of them when they literally don’t even go outside except to get their mail thinking about doing it anyways. If I can live with a rooster crowing every morning I can live with a bitchy roommate
@@meady50 We love our chickens and wish everyone could have them! That is what I love so much about the hoop coop, it really reduces the amount of time needed to care for and clean the coop. I don’t mind roosters at all, but I might not be the person to ask because I also don’t mind guineas! 😂 Have you considered quail? They have less space requirements and aren’t AS loud as chickens. It’s a much softer crow. Although they don’t tend to be as “personable” as chickens.
I love your enthusiasm! Not sure what I can do with any of this information, but it did make me smile :)
@@Rang89 thank you! I do love chicken keeping and sharing ways to make it easier.

Musics so -____ loud can’t hear you
@@harley475 I am a wonderful chicken keeper, but learning the “technology” side of video editing has been a steep learning curve. I will remember that next time. What sounds great on my iPad doesn’t always sound the same after upload. Thanks for the feedback!
I think the volume of the music is fine, you can hear your voice clearly over it. It sounds like it does start to peak when you aren’t talking though , so it probably could be lowered a bit
@@meady50 Thank you for the feedback!
Just use runners?
@@paulashe61 our coop does have runners which helps, but the wheel design is our own also! We feature it in our short and full build videos!
GOOD MORNING ☀️ GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS 🙏
Can you tell us what camera you use? And don’t have to have a subscription?
@@lesliewilliams765 I use the Ring products! We have the Ring doorbell, floodlight cams, stick up cams, spotlight cams, and Ring security system. We’ve used Ring products since 2017. The one in this video that we use for motion detection + light is the spotlight camera. It has EXCELLENT night vision, much better than any others I’ve tried. I also love that you can turn on the light or trigger an alarm sound remotely. You can get motion alerts sent to your phone (or turn them off). You can also set “motion zones”, fully customized to make sure you only get the alerts you want. For example, I set custom zones on my bunny hutch to ignore the movements of the bunny and alert for anything else. All of this is without a subscription. If you want recordings of any motion detection then you do need to subscribe to Ring protect. HOWEVER, it covers ALL Ring devices at your home. We currently have 8 devices and they are all covered on the same subscription. I’ve used it both with and without the subscription, but I like knowing if any predators are in the area + for extra security around the home.
@@lesliewilliams765 if you need help finding the products, I do have them linked in our Amazon storefront. You can find that link on our channel page! Any further questions just let me know!
@@CottonRiverFarm thank you for taking the time to answer my question thoroughly.
@@lesliewilliams765 Of course! When I’ve looked at cameras over the years I found it to be a frustrating process. I am always happy to answer questions if it helps someone make an informed decision. I despise wasting $$! 😂

I have a coop big enough for twenty...built heavy but moveable with our bobcat. Works perfect and fertilizer for our acres
@@daniellebuck5691 That’s great! We had and older chicken tractor that was SO heavy and we had to move it with our farm truck. We love fertilizing the land as we move our coops. It’s amazing how well they do at weed control!
Does it prevent predators?
@@jamesf1165 We’ve never had a predator get into our coop, with the exception of a black rat snake that came in the open chicken door. We also have a predator apron build video, be sure to check it out!
Hello, is there anyway to get a paper copy of the plans? I have no way to print- i am off grid and in a tiny trailer so I don't have a printer.
I'm sorry, at this time all we have are the downloadable plans! I do know some have worked off the plans using a tablet or desktop.
You could probably print it at a local library.

How do you adapt the coop to keep snakes or vermin from coming/digging underneath your coo
@@EPFIREMAN We have a predator apron to keep predators out. The only predator we’ve ever had get into the coop was a black rat snake that came in through the open chicken door. Our typical predators are coyote, hawk, owl, raccoon, fox, and occasional cougar. Check out our predator apron build video here: th-cam.com/video/ZlGbyINvHwA/w-d-xo.html

Could the end walls be made with pvc pipe? This would make it even lighter.
I know some that make hoop coops from PVC pipe. However, it’s a delicate balance between being lightweight to move and heavy enough for storms/predators. We prefer to make it out of pressure treated wood. We do want some weight to it to withstand the storms we get and to keep predators out.
@@CottonRiverFarm True, although pipe is hollow and one was creative a person could add weight.

How many chickens fit in the chicken coop
I know it's an annoying answer, but it depends. Mainly on whether you are free ranging or keeping them confined. It also varies for meat chickens vs layers, turkeys, guinea, etc. A good rule of thumb for chicken coops of any type is to provide at least 4 sq ft of coop space and up to 8 sq ft per bird if they are confined. Additionally, each chicken should have 8-12 sq ft of outdoor run space and 10-12 inches of roost space. Our 2 cattle panel coop provides 200" of roosting space and 67 sq ft of run space. So it EASILY accommodates 16-20 free ranging laying hens or about 26 broiler/meat chickens. The meat chickens vary by breed and age of harvest. I also know lots of people keep many more chickens in their coops with no issues, but I do prefer to give ours a little extra space. This also determines how often you end up needing to move the coop. We also include a 3 cattle panel option in our plans.
THANKS FOR SHARING 🙏
We are really excited to share our design!
