I had a copy right on the same video. So edited out some of the sound. Well what can I say. We did the best we could. Made it to the second round of the Ropin. I ran outta rope and couldn’t dally. Clyde gave his best at the ranch cutting. We chase cows not cut em. But it was different and it was fun. Then ranch roping. That was a completely new experience for him. So this is my friend Zack. He told me his dream was to ride a horse. So I made that happen. I told him. If he wants to keep riding we’ll have to do riding lessons. As you can see in the video. He has no idea. lol. He wanted to give the barrel pattern a try. So I did my best to help him. Then he wanted to do it alone. In the last clip if you zoom in. You’ll see that young man. Roping with Mr Frank. I wish I’d took my camera stuff. But unfortunately it’s in my green truck which is at the body shop. He did pretty darn good. Just introduced him to the sled by following it while i lead him around. He was more worried about the sled. Cared less about the 4wheeler. He didn’t care about the rope sound hitting the sled. Or the noise it made. But he was like umm what exactly ...

    These are great suggestions. I have a little mare who has the potential to get hot like a barrel horse, and I have children riding her walk/trot in lessons, so doing everything solid at walk is key. She’s already naturally handy with her feet. I have a couple of other horses I have started that are much more level, and I could see using this as a drill could help them speed up and get more handy with their feet.

    • @lisabliss79
      @lisabliss79 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@monicasmith8082 I get all my ground work on them as yearlings. Backing, turning, stopping, side passing, standing tied, some ground driving. Depending on how big they are. Keep every session short. Then I throw them out to pasture. I show so if the vet says I’m good to go. Then I start them. If the vet says wait for whatever reason then I wait. I don’t like to make the training sessions long for them. They get bored and I don’t want that. By the time it’s they are ready for the saddle. They know everything. Just have to fine tune it in the saddle. So if I have to wait til they are 3. I don’t have to really do anything. As all the ground work has already been done. I just sit back and watch them grow in the pasture.

    Thinking about trying sorting. I love working cows and giving a horse a job , but the jerking and snatching and hollering is not what I am use to. A good and fun sport for sure.

    • @lisabliss79
      @lisabliss79 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ya I’m not big into the hollering either. It is extremely hard to not use your hands and jerk on em. I honestly struggle with that. But I can say the more you practice the better it gets. It is definitely fun that’s for sure. It does help if you have a trained horse. Green horses like the one in my video can definitely make one form bad habits with your hands and everything else. But I love training them. It’s very rewarding I find.

Besides roping. The real sorting shows I go to is ok. Long story short. There’s folks that take that stuff way way to seriously. I’m in it to have a good time. But those folks don’t see it like that. I was in the same boat as you. But I never got invited. Finally went out and bought a trailer. There are sortings down your way. Are you on Facebook at all? There are groups that post those kinda things. As well as ropings. And if your ever up this way. Your always invited to come ride or used one of my horses to go sorting.

I actually have to call and order one for Clyde. Being he has a smaller mouth. Franks is just to big for him. I haven’t really been doing anything different with Clyde. Same stuff really. Clyde is turning out to a heck of a sorting horse. Frank can sort. But he needs a lot of metal maturing to do. They are night and day. I’ve never rode a draft before. How tall is he? • @mingram008

He’s about 16 hands, you can mount him from the ground, but ya better stretch out first! He’s just BIG and all muscle! I never expected his gaits to be sooo smooth! Next roping idea! Rope off of Teddy Van Halen! Times might not set any records, but all eyes would be watching! Man I’m just crying for attention. I’m working on a bay gelding that just came off a ranch in Florida and is supposed to be broke and super gentle. The hand that was working him was an older gentleman and the horse is supposed to be one of those been there done that kind of horse. Maybe I can rope off him and put the mountain bike up! Girl, your livin large! I could do that all day long. I live in a suburb in north Texas and my roping practice didn’t go so well. I strapped my bale with the steer head on a furniture dolly, then tied it to my buddies truck. He would go down to the intersection and turn around, then came by me. The box was my neighbors parked car and I’d back my mountain bike up against the bumper. When the “steer” would pass I’d pedal like hell and start swinging my loop. I’d throw it like at the second driveway. Had a few waveoffs but finally hooked up real nice but the coils in my left hand got hung up between the handle bars and the brake lever so when I pulled the slack, the rope pulled the handle bar straight to the right and I went over the handle bars! Face-plant in the middle of the street! People were coming out to see what was going on, and someone called the Police and when I got up the law was out of the Tahoe and walking up. Lucky we live in Texas because as luck had it, he’s a heeler on a team roping team. When he quit laughing he told us, “just buy a horse, it’s gona be cheaper than all the dental work your gona have to pay for”! You do what you gotta do, right! You need to make up some posters of Clyde and sell em. I’d hang one up in my room. Man he was getting after it! He’s gona be the next “Jackal” roping horse!!! Keep it up and we’re looking forward to the next installment!!!!!

      Lmao oh I wish I was there to have seen that. To bad that cop couldn’t help ya out and get ya going with ropin. Now you have me wanting to try it. Imma record it to lol. I mean your right tho. We gotta use what we have. Even tho ya don’t have a horse doesn’t mean ya can’t practice. Heck get all that practice in and heck one day I’ll team rope with ya. I can definitely get some things made of of Clyde man. 🙂 hopefully he’ll be a good roping horse. Got my fingers crossed.

      @@lisabliss79 I’ve been taking riding lessons over in Ft Worth for about 3 months now. Heck most of the time I’m just paying to ride their horses twice a week. I’m totally addicted to horses now. You know how school horses are, most of the time you can’t pay um to call a trot. They have one, a giraffe of a gelding that is about 12 and was a ex barrel racer. I learned what all go and no whoa was! He won’t stand still, won’t walk, just run at every thing wide open! They say he’s a good trail horse if they put the right person on him but walk into the arena with him and the fuse is lit! A couple of the trainers always say, Man, I hate that horse, but you got to love his spirit. I learned to bend a horse and do circles with that one for about 45 min. Was wobbling when I got off him! Crockett the rocket I call him. He responds to cues faster than any other horse they have there! The big plan is to get my horsemanship skills up and either buy or lease one and board it. Yea, roping off a mountain bike didn’t quite work out! Keep in contact and we’re waiting for the next videos! Michael

      @@mingram008 now that you say that. I think you might have mentioned something about doing that. He sounds like he’d be a blast to ride tho. Glad your able to work with him. Sounds like your on your way to being a good horseman. Keep up the good work. I love a horse that has a spirit like that. Just something about them. Will do for sure. 🙂
