We're trying to save it as a custom map rather then a scenario. Is there any way to simply make a map instead of a scenario. Been through reddit and back and still havent found anyting except manual scripting in a txt file

Hey man, thank you for the tutorial videos they helped a ton! Im trying to make a map right now for me and my brother, a 2v2 against the AI but despite having it on hard and making sure the diplomacy was correct not a unit is moving. My teammates plus the opponent are completely stagnant. Is there some sort of trigger command or another way in order to force the AI to function hostile? Thank you!
Ignore me!! If anyone is having the same problem, make sure you have the other teams set to “AI” not “human” if they are set to “human” they will be completely stagnant as the game is expecting a user to pilot them

How do I make the Trojan wall, Trojan Gate, and Trojan Long Wall to have 9999999999999999999 HP?
Sorry for the late reply. I've been heck a busy with the holidays. At exactly 19:46 I go over how to buff units/buildings/etc. - In the example, the unit type was 'Cyclops', but you'll want to change it to 'WallOfTroyGate'. The Trojan wall, Trojan gate, and Trojan long wall will all be found under 'WallOfTroy_____'. You'll need to add an 'effect' for each piece of the wall you wish to change. - The 'Player' should be set to the same team as the wall. - Under 'Field', select 'Hitpoints'. - 'Delta' will be the amount of 'hitpoints' you're adding, multiplying, or changing. - For 'Relativity', set it to 'Assign' so that whatever you type into 'Delta' will set the total hitpoints of that wall. How do I increase HP for a building with high defense in editor mode? I will build a map where you cannot cross or fly on a big map except for this one small opening at the center. In that center is the Trojan Wall with stack 150k HP, which I don't know how to modify the stack defense.

@@KevinVang1000 I recommend starting from the beginning if you're new to triggers. However, if you just want to change the stats of an object go ahead and skip to "19: 20 - Modify a unit (Buffs, and debuffs)"
Great tutorial! But, I have a question. I already made a map scenario and the enemies build their settlements and advance their age. But, they only build little army and don't attack me. Do you have any suggestions? And, if i remember correctly, we used to be able to assign AI to the enemy right? like attack, economy, etc. But i haven't been able to find those AIs in scenario player data. Thank you!
Thank you! One solution would be to simply turn up the difficulty for the AI. In the editor: select the 'scenario' tab - Select 'playtest scenario', and you'll be able to select the difficulty there. Keep in mind that the difficulty will be locked to what you had set it to in the editor when you load the game into a skirmish match or online server. (I'm not sure why this is) I'm sorry. I wish I could help you out more, but this is the only method that I know of. I recommend this website if you want to ask the real experts. They'll be able to give you a better answer than I can, but you'll have to make an account to ask questions. They might already have an answer somewhere on there. When I give the trigger for my units to move to a point in order to attack it sometimes they just do not do it and just walk forward a bit and run back, not sure what causes this.
Hmm. That's odd. I can try to give you some tips to help you out. But it's hard to fix the problem unless I can actually see it for myself. -I recommend NOT setting your target location (point) right on top of a building as it might cause the pathfinding to bug. Instead place the point next to the object. - Make sure they have a clear path to their goal (Wide enough to support that army). If their point is in an unreachable spot sometimes they will give up before even trying, or take strange paths that don't make a whole lot of sense. (Like behind cliffs/trees/water/etc) - Sometimes the AI's pathfinding will get confused when it comes to walls especially if it has multiple layers, and sometimes the AI will take the longer path if that means they don't have to cross paths with that wall. - if there are enemy objects in the way I recommend to turn "Attack move" on. - 17:50 I've never experienced them not going to the target point with a clear path to it. So my best guess is that there's something blocking the path that might not be too obvious. I hope this was able to help you! Lmk if this doesn't work for you and I'll try my best to talk you through it.

Thanks! That honestly means a lot to me! :) One day I will get around to streaming. Perhaps on my next challenge run I'll have to stream. For now I'm just getting reacquainted with TH-cam itself, editing, and being comfortable in front of an "audience". My next step is to get a face cam up and going.

Wow! 9 years later, and this video is still getting veiws. I really need to make a new tutorial for Age of Mythology Retolds Editor. Anything you learn from this video can be applied to Age of Mythology Retold's editor. So worry not what you learned will not go to waste.

Thank you for this vid! I remember playing this when it first came out when my dad bought it for me at Wal Mart on his way home from work, because he thought it looked badass.. I'm 32 now and downloaded the Extended Edition two days ago on Steam and played again for the first time in over a decade. It's exactly how I remember it and I never forgot how much fun I had in the editor. I'd say it's the best map editor on any game I've played. I only came here for a quick brush up, and now it's off to map designing!!! I can't wait I'm so excited!! Probably the No. 1 strat game I've ever played, partly because I'm an ancient history buff and always have been since I first played it. I'm also Norse decent.

Hey mate, I've set up a scenario where I've set the diplomacy of all teams through the scenario editor. My goal was to play this online with a few of my friends, but the diplomacy settings I set are overwritten by whatever has been set in the online game set up. It's pretty unique diplomacy settings that I can't replicate via the online settings - any tips?
Can you modify protounits in a campaign map? Say, for example, i want to destroy General Melagius's army with a bunch of unkillable animals of Set. In any random map i could do it just fine, but i can't do it on a campaign map. Is there any way to do so? Should they be assigned to a group trigger?

Made a pretty massive map myself today, but sadly when I go multiplayer - even with just AI's - the map crashes after about 5 - 15 minutes. Haven't really found a fix for that. Any tips?
Do you have any triggers on this level? If so one of the triggers is most likely the issue. I would try to troubleshoot the triggers and figure out which one is bugging it out. If not that it could be too much clutter on the map. But it's hard to say. I recommend just try different things; you'll basically be shooting in the dark. I've never had a map crash on me before like that but I have had myself go into a multiplayer game and, the map's triggers not working after hours of work. These things unfortunately happen, and you just have to troubleshoot until you can find the issue. I wish you the best of luck with the problem you're having. @@SlapMeGaming-Realms No triggers or anything fancy like that. Just a scenario to mainly be used as a map to kill eachother on. No objectives, etc. My main worry is maybe the map is too large. Works great single-player, no lag or anything. Only on multiplayer does it crash. 7 AIs, 5000 size map, lots of cliffs, hills, valleys, a sea and a river.
It could be that with the AI on there's too much going on in the map at once. Basically because over time in a game there's more and more added to the map with every building, and more units being made. I'd have to say you may need to scale it down a bit in the editor like make a smaller population limit or delete some of the units/buildings/nature/ecs If it's none of the above then I'm really not sure.

Say I want to use a trigger to create an army (A) when another army (B) is in a certain location (C); Is there any way to cause A to 'patrol' the length of C?
(Keep in mind it has been about 5 years since I played this game) There's a couple ways to do what you're asking but unfortunately I don't really remember as of now. I'd need to redownload the game and get a refresher on it. I apologise. I would of liked to help more. I do plan on revisiting the tutorial a revising it one day. When I do I'll be sure to cover that. Or if I end up messing around with it for who knows what reason I will get back to you on it.

Atlantean gain favour by holding their town centre or settlements. The more claimed settlements the faster favour generation.
This tutorial is useless..........you're using the old version of the game not the newest version on steam. I wish that when they remade AOM on steam that they wouldn't of screwed with the overall user interface because they changed alot of the game. Anyways...yeah
This is the steam version however it is outdated. This video was uploaded about 4 years ago and I really haven't play aom since. I want to make a new tutorial but I have yet put the effort in to making a new one. Honestly I didn't even know they changed the editor since I last played. Thanks for letting me know. I'll check it out and see if I need to make a new tutorial.

This is the most incherent guide i have ever seen in my life. But still pretty nice.
I was younger and inexperienced with editing videos. In my head I thought it would be a good idea to do it all in one go and, just for the most part leave it unedited. I can definitely say it probably is confusing because there's really no order I just randomly jump around. I ended up actually making this video because of the fact that there were no other tutorials on youtube and, I thought I could help share this information with the rest of the world. Maybe get some cool maps out of it. lol

Mohamed friha You're trying to reload a file in the editor? When you're looking for the save are you looking in the right file? Are you saving it in the right file? There's a little back arrow too try hitting that. If all else fails you can try uninstalling and reinstalling it. I'm in the hospital right now so I wish I could be more help. :/
