    Love my Milano. All of my Rinaldis for that matter. They're forged from excellent steel and ground to bite well. Upper 50s HRC and thin but still a really tough alloy. A big perk of these axes is the way they're hafted. I have 2 different handles that I carved for my Milano. One shorter one I carved out of White Oak that I use for carving and when I want to use it as a hatchet, and another longer one I made out of Shagbark Hickory that I use when I want more of a small axe for felling and bucking small trees like the tree in the video. I really like that ability to go back and forth that Rinaldis offer with the slip fit design

    • @ItalskeSekery
      @ItalskeSekery 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with you! I really like Rinaldi steel! It has a hardness of 56-57 HRC, sharpens very easily, and holds an edge well. It’s also super practical to have more than one handle for the same axe. The Milano is great for carving, and personally, I also find it very efficient as an axe to bring along for camping and other outdoor activities. 🪓:) Have you tried other Rinaldi models? Which one is your favorite?

    • @AnarchAngel1
      @AnarchAngel1 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ItalskeSekery I have the Calabria felling axe and the "American" Boy's Axe as well. I like them all, but I think I use the Milano the most. I use it a lot to rough out shapes for woodworking, like spoons etc. that I sell, and also outdoors. I have kind of a specialized grind on mine because I use it mostly for carving, almost like a single bevel chisel grind. If I had left it closer to stock geometry, I would probably use it outside more. It still works extremely well for smaller trees though. I like the relatively wide, flat bit profile. I've been thinking on getting the Trento as well. Looks like it would make a very effective limbing axe with that long edge profile it has. I've found the Rinaldi axes in general work well for dead wood as well because of how thin they are compared to American pattern axes. Rinaldis have become my favorite as of late

      @@AnarchAngel1 The Milano is still one of my favorites 🪓. I find the America great for chopping, and I really like the Calabria for its versatility. The Trento is also a great chopping axe, and I agree its wide blade is very useful for limbing. It’s nice to know that Rinaldi is known and appreciated abroad. It’s a family business that started in 1780. There aren’t many like it left in Europe anymore

      @ItalskeSekery I feel most people here in the States simply aren't aware of them, or if they are, they don't know where to get them. They are on Amazon now, though. I get mine from a knife company here that carries them. It's also a very different style of axe than many people are familiar with. The lack of a poll, the slip fit head, and how thinly they are ground make them a little bit alien for guys used to American patterns and Swedish axes, etc. I've made it my job to introduce as many people to them as possible though, because like I said, there's a lot of things to like about them and I think I people gave them a shot they would think the same. They are definitely known, but mostly only by serious axe users who aren't afraid to stray from "traditional" designs from wherever they are from in the world

      @@AnarchAngel1 That’s great to hear you’re helping more people discover Rinaldi axes! I agree, they’re very different from the more common American and Swedish axes, which are also fantastic in their own right. But I think anyone who tries a Rinaldi will see how versatile and effective they are :)

      Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy my videos! A characteristic of southern Italian axes like the Sicilia and Calabria models is their thinner handle shape, which is almost triangular in the lighter versions. The wedge shape and blade angle of the Calabria are unique, but you might also like the Rinaldi America model, which has a rounded handle. Dobrý den. Nástroj vypadá moc dobře a hlavně užitečně. Už jsem dvakrát měl prst na vložit do košíku. 😃 Ještě jsem se úplně nerozhodl. Můžete mi prosím říct jestli to zvládne sekat i běžnou trávu, která se prostě jen nechala příliš vyrůst? Samozřejmě mohu vzít strunovku a posekat to během chvilky. Ale jsou případy kdy je potřeba ticho a klid a to se strunovkou nejde dohromady.

      Dobrý den, tento nástroj doporučuji především pro čištění pozemků, kde je odolná vegetace. Snadno zvládne sekat keře, ostružiní, větve, mladé stromky atd. Posílám ho velmi ostrý a v některých případech může být pohodlný i pro pozemky s běžnou trávou, která je přerostlá (hlavně na nerovných pozemcích nebo ve větších svazích jako tady 3:17), ale pro specifické použití na rovném trávníku s běžnou trávou je kosa vhodnější volba, pokud se umí správně používat a udržovat. Tento nástroj je spíše jako mačeta než kosa nebo srp. Je snadno použitelný a udržovatelný, nenaklepává se jako kosa a její ostří oproti kose vydrží po dlouhou dobu, ale tloušťka a úhel čepele jsou méně vhodné pro použití při sekání trávy.

I could tell you had become more comfortable by the third notch at rhe beginning of the video. It was much more efficient than the first two. Good job showing what these can do for an axe that weighs just a little over a pound total.

      I agree with you, it's a very versatile axe. Despite the very light head weight, it performs incredibly well in both chopping and splitting, and it's super easy to carry! Thanks for the comment!

    Really Nice ! I like how you used the lean of the tree and the holding wood you left , and the trees standing to roll the larger one you fell away from the fence. Which Rinaldi axe is its. What weight ? And length of handle ? It works great to process the limbs on the trunk of the tree they came from . Good video ! I subscribe. Looking forward to future vids.
