Making a College Landmark Into a Rocket
มุมมอง 623ปีที่แล้ว
For the past quarter, I’ve wondered if my knowledge of rocket building can make things other than rockets fly… like a building. So I made a 3D printed 1:60 scale model of Stanford’s Hoover Tower. And as it turns out… it CAN fly! Standing 4.5 ft (1.4m) tall and weighing 14 lbs (6.3kg), the tower took flight on June 3rd, reaching an apogee of 396 ft (121m) - slightly higher than Hoover Tower itse...
How to design foam board RC planes in Fusion 360
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show my workflow for designing foam board RC planes in Fusion 360, which can be laser cut to create highly accurate planes quickly. The plane designed here was made into kits and distributed to members of the Stanford Flight Club to build, eventually giving us seven new planes to fly. Massive Cardboard RC Plane
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I've always wanted to build a massive RC plane, but didn't want to waste foam. I decided to try cardboard on a small plane, and to my surprise it worked great! While not quite as strong, it has fewer fumes while laser cutting, is cheaper, and is more sustainable, and for quick prototypes it makes a great choice of material. This plane was built over the course of a week, with support from Stanf...

    If I want to rotate the arm and keep the end effector at the same starting angle (i.e., change in end effector angle = 0), the formula in the video would suggest a gear ratio of 2:1. That doesn't seem correct. Am I using the formula incorrectly?

    • @notsaltysugar
      @notsaltysugar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you want the end effector at the same angle, then it should be a 1:1 ratio, which is a parallel 4 bar linkage. at the same time i'm having slight trouble understanding the question so my answer might not be that helpful

    • @jemnguyen5841
      @jemnguyen5841 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@notsaltysugar I am aware we could use a 1:1 gear ratio to keep the angle the same. At the 4:00 timestamp in the video, there is a formula to calculate the gear ratio based on the desired angles. I am validating the formula with a 1:1 gear ratio scenario and got a different answer using the formula provided. I am wondering if I am using the formula incorrectly.

  • @rexbrodie4024
    @rexbrodie4024 ปีที่แล้ว

    Greetings, In your Fusion model, you show the arm and the end effector both rotating counterclockwise. If you are using a chain and the large gear is fixed, doesn't the small gear and the end effector rotate in the opposite direction, clockwise?

    Thank you for sharing, I tried this, but I am trying to create a trapezoidal wing to no avail, just the conversion to sheet metal fails to infer the thickness, when using a square wing it works fine; any idea, suggestion how to make it work with a trapezoidal wing?

    • @lskaling
      @lskaling ปีที่แล้ว

      It's finicky, I've had that happen a number of times. Ensure the body isn't connected on the back side, and you give a large and constant bend radius on both sides of the wing profile. Perhaps from the square wing try to slowly alter the shape to get closer to the trapezoidal profile until it breaks.

    Why not build in balsa? Do you really prefer the low poly look and feel? Not hatin, just curious

    • @vedpatel8365
