United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 ก.ย. 2024
Welcome to Ray’s Rides, my two wheeled adventuring TH-cam channel created with the motorcyclist in mind.
I’m Ray, and I’m here to share some of my motorcycling moments with you, be it good or bad. I’ll take you with me on some of my adventures, whether that’s a local Sunday ride to a biker meet, in the garage with a cuppa for some bike maintenance, or something a little further afield - my GoPro will be with me all the way recording the action as it happens! Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just getting into motorcycling, I invite you to join me by hitting that subscribe button and help me to grow this channel. I will be filling it with all sorts of content, ultimately related (mostly) to motorcycles, motorcycle touring and everything that comes with it. I’ll have my own hints and tips, gear reviews and inspiring travel content from my own trips to share with you all. I hope you enjoy Ray’s Rides, let’s hit the road!

BMW F900 GSA Review
The BMW Bike Reviews, Episode 1
Welcome to the first episode in a new series for the channel. This weekend I have the fantastic BMW F900 GS Adventure on test, and I’ll be taking a leisurely ride through the local countryside to tell you all about the bike. Thanks to Wollaston BMW in Northampton, each month I will be reviewing a different bike in the BMW range. In this episode we will be going over the basic bike configuration and equipment, how the bike handles and feels, and my general thoughts and impressions of the F900 GS Adventure. There is even a little bit of light ‘off roading’ and a bike wash to finish off!

Urban GS seat, luggage rack and GPS mount install
มุมมอง 4242 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today I fit the Wunderlich comfort single seat and luggage rack, along with a Unit Garage GPS bracket. Some nice cosmetic upgrades for the Urban GS!
So a quid pro quo advertisement video.
Why would one want to get a 1300GS ? This 900 seems good enough for anything, actually better.
I borrowed the exact same bike overnight from Wollaston when they had my f900r in for a new back tyre (nail 🤬). Have to say it was a great bike and spoilt me with the comfort and cruise control which I used going back up the M1 to Rugby. I am around 5’8 and could reach either side on the balls of my feet . Nice to see you explaining the configurator as it did confuse me a bit when looking to get my bike ! Great service as ever from Wollaston 👏
Hi Clive. Thanks for your message, yep great bike and great dealership. Enjoy riding the F900 😄
Great review 👍 I've got one of these great bikes and absolutely love it. One of the best bikes I've ever riden, for a midrange adventure it gives you everything you need 👍👍
Thank you for the comments. I agree, amazing 'do it all' bike and one of the comfiest bikes I have ever ridden. Happy riding, all the best 👍
Enjoyed your video and would love a GSA but would be worried about going from a NC750X to a 1300, any thoughts?
Thanks for your comments. I think the only difference to bear in mind would be the additional weight of the GSA, however I would say the GSA is good at keeping the weight down low due to the boxer engine. The weight just disappears the moment you start moving. My recommendation would be to go and test ride one at your local BMW dealer. If you are anywhere near to Northants, pop into Wollaston BMW and speak to Will, let him know you have watched my video and they will sort you out the best possible offer on a bike. There is no discount but they will help you as much as they can. Good luck with whatever you choose.
@RaysRidesTWA thanks for your time Ray, really kind of you. I'll certainly take into consideration what you have said. Cheers
Mine 1300 gsa is now sat in my garage after a 5 month wait ! They certainly are a grower 👌
Nice update Ray.
Non livrable avant printemps voir juillet 2025…bravo BMW
Ordered in October but not available “until 2025” !?!?! 🤬🤬🤬
A tank on two wheels, can’t wait to get one with asa 😊
Nice panniers .Thanks for sharing video. I had to put my own bungee hook holders on my Vario cases. Whz up BMW 😒
That guy should have taken more care with your bike !
It’s hideous 😢😢
They look like plastic.
I was thinking same thing….Alu cases would fit the bike better to be honest…
They are aluminum.
Well, I like that new 'not just square' design but isn't it too wide?
Very nice! I'm torn between this one and the Blue/White.
Maybe this time I prefer the silver ones.
I have a 2023 1250 GSA and actually really like the new 1300 GSA ASA version however the 10k cost to change takes a bit of digesting! I also done an insurance quote and it £1250 for the year with tracker & thatcham alarm so based on that i will be keeping my 1250 for the time being. Can I ask what you paid insurance?
Hi Matthew. Tough decision for you there, especially with that balance to change. If I had a 2023 1250GSA then I wouldn't be upgrading at this point, however as I was wanting to come back to BMW from KTM, the 1300GSA was the obvious choice for me. Insurance is high due to being a new model but I am hoping this will drop next year. I didn't pay as much as your quoted figure but I suppose location and things like NCB, age, bike security all play a part in the figure insurance companies will charge you. Good luck in whatever you decide to do 👍
What tyres are on that ?
They are the Michelin Anakee Adventure. I rate them, some people say they are on the noisy side but I don't really notice any difference, is my opinion.
I've counted 14 videos by influencers saying "It looks better in the flesh". Whoever owns or buys these bikes I hope you enjoy them. BMW will sell loads. Personally I think it's so ugly it's funny. On the move the size, weight wont be an issue, but the petrol station, cafe car park drops is when riders will realise yup it's heavy and big.
Not an influencer, but was one of those who hated the looks of the bike at the reveal in Germany. And like some others who felt that way, I’ve also come to like the purposeful look of the bike, especially in triple black.
A direct competitor to the GSA would be the Triumph 1200 with its shaft drive.
Yes it would, and as anticipated that was the bike I forgot about 🤦♂
🤔 I heard it actually have lightened buttons
I will go double check and let you know what I find. I am wondering myself now!
@ please notice it’s just what I heard from other people, I’m also curious is it absolutely true, finger crossed. Let me know back how did it went
That is the ugliest bike ever made. The 1250 is very cool.
Congratulations and all the best on the Beast. New sub. Look forward to your follow-up videos of your ownership. Cheers
Thank you, yes will be posting more content as soon as poss 👍
@@RaysRidesTWAlook forward to that. I like the huge proportions of the GSA 1300, the GS 1300 didn’t work for me. It seems to have lost the GS DNA. From a 2022 Multi V4s owner 😊 Ride safe.
I love the look of the new 1300's GS and GSA, much better than the 1250.
its so ugly i wouldnt put it in my garage
If you want to ride in a 'very calm bubble' you should try a R100RT from circa 1979..... You could ride at ...ahem....motorway speeds without any wind noise or buffeting......back then you needed to 'pay attention', if you were travelling at motorway speeds as there was no ABS , Traction Control, or active cruise control, if you were closing on traffic too quickly you wound back the throttle.... Anyway enjoy your new bike...
You still didn’t address my question over my fee for the camera work. 🤔
I thought we agreed a sausage bap at Super Sausage for the mediocre camera work and sketchy pillion ride 😉
It’s a good one Ray, nice little mop up to your previous video, ride well…ride safe mate.
Ugliest bike I've ever seen...😅
looked better in the crate
So when are you getting your 88mm fitted ?
Just remember not to get it wet!! after several You Tube vids the bike seems to have a problem if you get it wet something to do with failing ECUs .
I think that issue was sorted on the GS pretty quick, so hopefully no concerns there with the GSA.
what about panniers. good review
Thanks, panniers to follow and will be the OEM BMW to fit the bike - in black to match 👍
1 litre of petrol is 740 grams. Not 1 kg.
Doh - my bad, sorry about that!
I could understand buying a GSA in Australia or other large countries, but in England? Isn't it a bit of an overkill, like someone having a Land Rover in the city? I'm sure it would be a fantastic machine to experience. I do like the colour and look of yours, and have hit the sub and 👍 I have a 2022 Pan America Special (army green version), so me picking on your choice is like the pot calling the kettle black, and I use it as a sports tourer and commuter in Melbourne Australia.
Well Australia would be the place I would like to be riding with all that sun and space to explore. England has its fair share of adventurous routes though, and the GSA is perfectly suited for this as well. I also purchased it for my European tours, so she will be used as intended 😉 Happy riding Down Under 👍
Shit helmet
Digging the brutalist Germanic looks but I would love to see an R850GS with boxer engine and shaft drive. Devoid of electronic gizmos.
My word. That's an awesome bike 🏍 👏 👌
Thank god you've gone for the triple black. It will look very good at night 😂
thanks for sharing, can't wait to get mine !!
Years back, I used my KLR650 as a work vehicle. I strapped all sorts of tools and equipment to it to get me through the day. This BMW in my mind, is built for just that, strapping all sorts of gear to it like a true adventurer. This is not a bike to go weekly to a coffee drive through.
@pmbnet If I've paid my money, I can do whatever I want, I'm pretty sure I can go on a weekly coffee drive through if I want to...
Additional GoPro or 360 to catch the FPV?
I am definitely not color blind, but why is that tank look so Purple? I though this was the triple black.
Mentioned this in my Q&A comments video I posted last night 👍. I can see how it looks purple, more bronze when you see it in person, but a lovely finish on the tank.
Im sure its a very capable bit of kit but boy that bike is ugly. Looks like its a tractor designers first go at a motorbike. Or Ssangyongs first motorbike.
I did address the 'love or hate' looks in my latest video. All I would say is go and have a look at one (unless you have already) as it looks totally different when you see them in person. I can appreciate it maybe not to everyones taste, depends on what you want from a bike 👍
Have you seen it in the flesh, I thought ugly until I saw it and it’s a great looking bike!
Stunning
a bit jealous ..would of got the ASA personally ..
me too :)
Take it back and see if they’ll do a refund
Just replace gear lever which is idoticly made of plastic....
Gear lever comes in metal as standard on the GSA.
Did mention this in my comments video last night. It's definitely made of aluminium or steel. Think there is a small nylon bush to link it to the gear linkage, but lever is metal of some sort 👍
👏👏mine comes next week 👍🏼
Great, you must be getting excited. Hope you enjoy the bike - good luck 👍
@ had it on order for 3 months ! Part exd my 1300 gs !
@@markshirley7639 I have to admit I took a 1300GS for an extended test ride and decided to hold out for the GSA. I think you will be pleased and hope you enjoy it.
@ I'm sure it will be a cracker 👍
