Great question. However, removing the extractor is not something I would do until I need to, but I can reach out to my contact at Rost Martin and get information on removing the extractor. Are you having issues with your extractor?

It has been a while since I shot a Hellcat Pro, but I definitely preferred it over my 365XL (I won the XL through a company contest). First, let me say the Hellcat Pro is considered a micro-compact and completes against 365XL. RM1C is not micro-compact - but there is not huge size and weight difference between them. But if I had to choose between the two - I would choose the RM1C. For these reasons 1) fully ambidextrous out of the box 2) reduced recoil (low bore axis)/smooth firing 3) excellent trigger (maybe not as good as a Canik out of the box, but close.) 4) excellent build quality 5) bang for your buck. However, at the end they are both excellent firearms and will come down to what you are looking for and what feels good in your hands. Hellcat Pro v. How do you like your Gideon optic? They have on my radar for awhile just haven't pulled the trigger yet and it looks like they are picking up some traction on TH-cam. Also, Muddy River Tactical makes great holsters, glad to see that they are making one for the RM1C. Not sure if you were if you were looking for confirmation corncerning XD/XDM sights, but yes according to Rost Martin spec sheet they sent me - Aftermarket Compatibility: XD/XDM sight configuration.

@@thehumblesouthpaw so far I like it. Clear glass, robust construction. I have the green version , gets plenty bright in the sun , hasn’t lost zero, was almost dead on out of the box . Only issue I had was the screws included were either too long or too short . My gunsmith found the right size screws . You only have a circle and a dot. I prefer just a dot but that’s a personal preference. I mainly use Trijicon or Aimpoint or Holosun optics so this is a test to see how it holds up. It also has a shake to awake feature which conserves battery . So far I’m pleased . I think Gideon is an up and coming company with some affordable options .

I don't think Kimber is going to discountinue the Mako - They just released a tactical version (threaded barrel). They might add a full size or compact version.

I can do quick video on it. I just broke one down not and it wasn't that bad to do. But according to Kimber they recommend purchasing new ones. They do not sell parts and I don't think there is a lot of aftermarket accessories for the Mako. I did question them on the maintenance of magazine (cleaning), they didn't have an answer to that.

Thank you for responding. I bought a Mako for my wife's birthday. I normally run a rag through the magazine after shooting but the Mako's doesn't have any kind of button to push to release the baseplate. I shoved a small screwdriver into the hole and was able to take it off, but I don't know if I damaged it in the process. She really likes how it shoots, but there are some definitely quirky things about it.

Sorry for late reply - getting the optic cut will not affect the integrity of the holster of holding your gun. I always recommend getting the optic cut on holster if your firearm is optic ready, but don't have the optic on it. I purchased mine for my Canik SC (optic ready) and took the optic off, but I still use the holster with no problems

Is the base plate missing?

No the base plate is on I bought two new 15 round mags and the both have a bent wire on the bottom of the plate

Is the bent wire inside the slot on the bottom of the magazine base? If so, that is how you remove extended mag base to replace for a new 3-round extension or flat base making it a 13-round magazine. I have not played with replacing magazine bases on the Kimber - I am not sure how their system works. Will definitely look into it and make video. I hope this is helpful.

No, I have not - Yes, it is possible. However, if you maintain a well-disciplined thumb forward grip it won’t be an issue. The Mako provides excellent texture and ample thumb rest space on their frame. I worked at range for years and most failures to extract (with the ejection port on top of the slide) occurred when someone allowed their thumb to start rising and resting on slide - preventing the slide from recoiling properly. With the Mako, the difference is a southpaw will block ejection port causing issues, but a right-handed person will still cause the same issue if they rest their thumb on the slide.

If you are looking for a Micro 9mm - I would pick the Kimber Mako 15 round. For several reasons; 1) Easier to rack, 2) fully ambidextrous out of box, 3) Ambi slide lock function is smoother and easier to manipulate. (This was a big factor for me.) I do not own the Canik MC9 - but worked at a range/gun store and had the opportunity to play with them. To me, it seemed to be difficult to rack or manipulate the slide lock. Also, heard that complaint from other southpaws. Canik is known for their heavier recoil spring to handle NATO grade ammo, and supposedly had put a lighter spring in the MC9 but didn't see it. @@thehumblesouthpaw Thank you ! I did handle the canik mc9 and found it hard rack and just moved on. I handled the s&w csx and it was very easy to operate,but all the fuss about the trigger made me pause. I have yet to find a mako in the wild so I can handle it. I also have interest in the Grand power pistols. I've decided after years of using right handed firearms it's time to find something that works for me.

I like it so far. It's a great "satellite " bag since I have my main bag locked in a storage compartment in the truck. I keep a G3C and 2 x 17 rnd spare mags in it. Plenty of room for flashlight, lighter, small tool kit, etc etc. Will need to get some extra padding for the sling, but that's not a big deal. I still carry concealed but the bag is more for a backup carry.@@thehumblesouthpaw

Andrew - Thank you for your comment and joining the channel. TacKnives were known for their budget OTF knives but have stepped up their game with folding knives. The Komodo is a nice solid budget knife, and the design is pretty slick too - that is what caught my eye.

It is a very nice knife; I was tempted to keep it. The TacKnives BF16 is very similar; they just missed the mark on the scales.
